I really liked Steven Milne, he seemed a bit out of sorts after having to get up quickly after his disco nap, but I was really impressed by his set.
Winter in Siberia were great for a new band, loads of promise there IMO.
I was impressed with Katerwaul's acapella bit, but I guess their style just isn't my cup of tea.
Didn't stay for IRL cos I'm old and can't hack the pace.

Thanks for that!!!
I should have another one ready by the end of August, hopefully.
So how many albums and songs do you have in total then?
-
I've been playing the new album 'Disconnected' and I have to say it's a real grower. To be honest I put it on as background music the first time so didn't really pay any attention to it. But I find myself wanting to play it again and again. Superb!

Because as a woman, you're almost guaranteed to have terrible music tastes.
That's all.
ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh!!! *handbags*
Just like, as a man, you're almost guaranteed to think you are brilliant at music, but in reality you are an embarrassment who makes everyone want to pour bleach in their ears.

Aye... Westlife's " you raise me up" has 4 choruses and 1 verse i'm pretty sure. a keychange before the last OBVZ.
where would celine/westlife/leona be with out a key change eh? the gutter... that's where.
Over-produced pish.
ooooooh, let's throw in a key change.
I'll maybe even stand up and do some air grabbing so people know just how emotional I am

owning a ding dong has everything to do everything when it comes to the difference between male and female perception of things.
In the case of musical wankery then look no futher than youtube: the ratio of guys to girls doin shredz lolz videos must be infinity billion to one.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...........*nods and rubs chin*
I think you might have a point there maybe us girlies are a bit more reserved. Or something.....
-
That would be because you are not the proud owner of a penis, love.
I have to ask, how does whether or not I have a walloper have anything to do with musical taste....?
-
Well, it kinda does. It's their prerogative what they do with their musical abilities. I don't like the majority of overly complicated music, as there's rarely a tune in it, but some people dig that kind of thing. It does come across as a format of just showing off, alot like these "Shred Videos" on youtube or whatever, but it's a musical output all the same, and is equally as valid as a band writing simple pop songs.
yeah that's my point, it's just not my cup of tea.
In the limited experience I have had to going to gigs, it seems that the people who try their hardest to show off are actually the people who are the least talented.

Hey guys
Your new stuff is really great, but there are a few problems with intonation in the fiddle. Not to pick on Carol or anything, but I don't think she should be playing all the time, just leave it to the odd gem...? I think this would help a lot to tightening up your sound.
I think I would also like to hear a few more unusual sounds from the drums i.e. use toms more, snare, etc. But hey it's just my opinion, feel free to it out the window if you like

I've noticed I have a bias towards music with singers rather than instrumentals which I guess are most prevalent in classical music.
I don't think that when you learn an instrument that you are necessarily better able to appreciate a good piece of music. I think that perhaps you are more able to express why you like or don't like it.
I truly hate bands that do complicated stuff just for the hell of it. It's that type of musical masturbation that I try and avoid at all costs. Ok, you are good at your instrument but FFS that doesn't mean you have a right to indulge in some musical wankery.
There are a few local bands that are guilty of this 'everyone else shut up, I'm going to play like I'm doing a constant solo' type of guff. /rant.

Hi folks
I have finally got round to recording some new songs:
Jayne Carmichael on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads
The recordings were taken with a minidisc so the quality is pretty piss poor and it clips frequently but you can get the jist.
Any feedback would be appreciated, cheers!

really good gig, and Kitchen Cynics will be sorely missed.

"We didn't start the fire
Sandi's ears are burning,
PR wheels are turning.
Ms. Thom's tunes are dire,
No we didn't like it
It's a crime to fight it".

ok good point, want to encourage as many people as possible, and I guess there's nothing better than cold hard cash Or maybe a bit of both? 1st prize 50 cash and a few beer tokens?
-
It will increase if we get a good turnout.
That's the minimum prize, which I think is pretty good, not to mention 2nd, 3rd, bad beat and high hand prizes.
