  1. UnionSquare - Car

btw - Parking is 1 per visit after 6pm. not used it yet.

"You can also park for just a pound between 18:00 and 06:00 at College Street car park."

    i like the travel map

    UnionSquare - Travel Map

Last night I saw two lassies getting asked to leave a seat, I think because they were eating "outside" food? Seemed a bit ott attitude wise but the security guy had apparently spoken to them before so maybe that explains his mood.

  2. booze update - of sorts.

was in the cinema last night, realised they have a bar close to the entrance so i guess it's available for all punters - cinema goers or not, i mean this as opposed to the restaurants that seem to be set-up for dining customers only (unless they have bar areas for non-eating folks?), didn't check prices but presume pretty high.

i tried out an onion bhaji burger at the homemade burger place, which was just 3 bhaji's stuck in a bun, made into a massive tower that I'd need to dislocate my jaw to tackle so had to take one of them out, kinda disappointed as i had thought it was gonna be a burger sized bhaji but suppose can't really complain... well except that it wasn't very warm (aye the ones kept in bun too) but the chips were a lot better, managed to keep their heat. was a bit weird having the set-up of pub style get a table, when ready to order go to the bar, pay for food & drinks, take drinks back to table, sit at table waiting for order while watching large queue forms through the restaurant blocking staff from going to and from kitchen and food orders, also blocking other customers from toilets, the queue reached back at far as right next my table which was a bit crap too. not sure what they do if you want more drinks as we never bothered.

Seems odd to build an indoor shopping thing then throw half a dozen or so shops out the back right in the weather folks are avoiding by shopping inside a centre!

i concur, if you are entering from train/main doors then apart from maps there's no real indication of the shops hiding out the back, and again, why would you bother going out there to window shop when the weather is crap, for a brand new shopping centre it is a bit weird. Also Next seems to be the perfect short cut through the centre from that side & using the stairs to get up & down rather than going to the ones beside the lifts.

what a heap of crap i'm on about today, off for lunch.

  3. i presume the upstairs bit at Jury's Inn is a cafe/bar?

other than that i think it's just cafes or restaurants with bars or M&S food (when it opens) which may sell booze but don't suppose that counts! speaking of which i was planning going to go to M&S food (before i realised it was closed) to save me paying something like 1.59 for a bottle of juice from WH Smith, ended up going to Sizzlers!

(aye i wis born in aberdeen, will walk for 2 mins to save 60p!)

  4. i thought the place would've been better suited to a "printworks" style place, a la manchester. just purely cos the weather is poop constantly it'd be a winner to have bars/clubs/cinema/restaurants in one place, again to keep all the bams in one place!

and yeah before you say it we don't need anymore bars/clubs, just like we don't really need more copycat shops.

  5. The new series of Curb Your Enthusiasm is brilliant. The first ep was good but the second is surely one of the best ever.

Series 7 starts on More4 (Sky 138) on Thursday night 10.55pm for those interested...

  6. Planes Trains and Automobiles was on last night. I think now im older i appreciated it more. I think John Candy would be so infuential in present Hollywood. He'd be doing some serious stuff being in his twilight years no doubt. Going to see District 9 the morn. Good times.

Uncle Buck was on last night too, don't know how many times I've watched it. Quality.

  7. Watched first 2 episodes of Underbelly last night, Oz gang/cop drama based on events in Melbourne from 1995-2004, seems worth sticking with so far.

The Underbelly series consists of two 13-part Australian television crime-drama mini-series' originally broadcast on Nine Network. The two series are based on true events; the Melbourne gangland killings and the Griffith drug trade. The first series is based on the book Leadbelly: Inside Australia's Underworld' date=' by The Age journalists John Silvester and Andrew Rule.[/quote']

  8. anyone know when the place will be closed down?

i don't like to ask while i'm in there but may have to drop subtle hints or pretend i heard a rumour, just in case it's a touchy subject...

ps was going to book a table at Rileys for a free hour taster but it says the place is no longer operated by Rileys, anyone know who runs it, if it's still open?

Rileys Aberdeen, Chapel Street - Play Pool, Snooker and Poker in a modern Rileys Club near you.

  9. camping is included when you purchase your Saturday or weekend ticket for Wizard Festival.

This year' date=' with purchase of a weekend Wizard ticket, camping and parking is free!

Is there somewhere to park my car if I am not camping?

Yes. Day parking will be available.[/quote']

Sorry if answer is in this thread or on the website elsewhere but...

Does a Saturday ticket mean parking is free or is there a charge?

  10. i never realised this news til today, seems a bit of a shame it was easy to miss as opposed to when other "legends" die.

saw him in NYC too, got a t-shirt, took some matches, didn't hang around though, kinda felt like they were used to people going to get autograph/stuff signed as they told people not to ask in between interval, probably as they knew he wouldn't say no, as did happen when i was there!
