  1. we constantly tried to send out positive vibes to Dick Byrne, "come on richie", "i believe in you", etc, anything to encourage him to play like a footballer, didn't quite work out though!

but i agree about the confidence, after Young scored on Sat we were willing him on to have a shot and he almost scored a screamer.

it's always about the rebuilding at Pittodrie, squads never last too long, players always move on,etc.

i don't know what the wage structure is like & i'm not asking milne to spend a load of cash but it's disheartening to read...

    Re: Barr

The Jambos were able to offer almost double what was on the table at Pittodrie.

Other targets such as Plymouths Steven MacLean and Swanseas Stephen Dobbie have also yet to be tempted north as McGhee bids to add some firepower to his squad.

why can't we just have the ability to attract a few decent players? all about the money & lack of excitement/belief & well maybe oil capital of europe doesn't do it for wags either.

would just like to see some progress, a bit more consistency, good football and an adoring crowd. not asking much o_O

  2. i'm all for positive vibes from the terrace to cheer on the players but I think a professional should really be able to perform to the best of their ability regardless of the noise from the crowd.

for all our "good play" on Sat we only scored one goal & could easily have blown the 3 points.

i think most aberdeen fans have no choice but to put up with the typically inconsistent seasons we always seem to produce, beat rangers/hearts/utd, lose to hamilton/st mirren, etc.

  3. Just back after 6 weeks away......

    Have the Dons signed anyone?

I'm glad I've missed all the matches, we are shite!

we signed all those players we were linked with, as usual, expect nothing less. milne splashing the cash quicker than you can say concrete it over.

those Barr signs for Hearts stories must be thinking it's 1st April, quite how all sources have reported this is uncanny, i'm just waiting for Beadle to make his entrance at pittodrie as his "agent" / right hand man. mulgrew/miller have signed a new 20 year contracts for less money per week just so that if anyone wants to buy them they have to give us cash, hearts of gold, eh?

you missed Young's goal of the season. you missed us putting Hearts out the cup.

you missed december's snowy hate of teams with H...

ps we are shite, piss game on Sat, apart from young's blackout, i mean, goal.

  4. Avril must have the best press agent in Scotland. I can't believe that people get taken in by his hoofball bullshit. I mean, what the fuck has he ever actually achieved? At the LSC he had lumps of wood like de Vries and McKenna battering fuck out of anything that moved, he was a holocaust at Leicester, and at the PJMs he's taken them to the heady heights of consecutive fifth placed finishes. Jimmy Calderwood's record is superior, and he's a fat fucking balloon.

alex miller must have a good agent too, never achieved anything of note in management either, unless you count cleaning boots at liverpool when they won in europe.

    Wilkie for captain.

  5. anyone on here use other movie review websites?

i still tend to use Empire for their brief verdict and star rating but wondering what alternatives would be worth trying (apart from this thread of course - not all films or future releases obviously covered)

  6. Last Chance To See on Sky Movies - Sky Movies

Any on here to recommend? Maybe the Sky Movie bit on the website isn't as bad as i thought, just a lot to shift through then check proper reviews.

  7. yeah that waste of trees is paid for by your subscription, quite a few threads online elsewhere about it due to the recent increase in charge, most folk don't read the small print but it's been going on for a while, I of course grudged it before, was during the time when I tried to cancel my Sky+ due to moving as I didn't want to pay again for getting it installed (at an address with a sky dish already installed but not the extra + cable) but found out you have to have sky+ for 12 month period, so in order to make use of what I'd have to pay for...

  8. upgraded for the time being to take advantage of extra viewing time while i recover from hangovers... recorded Pineapple Express & Tropic Thunder so far... any movies i should be looking out for & putting on the Sky+?

The Sky Mag is a shite resource, no help at all with movies, recommends 1 crap movie per day or something like that. I totally grudge being charged 2.20 for it, I asked them not to send it to me so that i could save the charge, they said it couldn't be done, awesome. Apparently you can cancel receiving the mag... but without saving the charge, some kind of VAT saving loophole, plus they get to send a mag packed with advertisements to all their customers, a big audience (in theory - if anyone reads it!), so lucrative for advertisers & another excuse to plug all their services, box office, etc.

  9. went to Vue in Stirling on Sunday afternoon, think 7 folk there in total, that's more like it. total contrast to the Cineworld Union Square shitey kid audience (the obvious advantage being the day/time and film choice - not that i've ever been there before or in stirling for a new movie on a friday night - anyway i digress).

law abiding citizen, quite enjoyable, butler's character a little ott in some actions but i was never rooting for foxx!

  10. If RATM comes anywhere near close to hitting a dent in the X factor song in sales, would simon cowell not just go out and buy 40,000 of the X factor singles? Bearing in mind a lot of the money will just coin straight into his pocket anyway. Hmm.

not sure what you mean by a dent in sales.

i don't think that the people that are buying RATM are buying it instead of the X factor song, they would have no intention of buying x factor song, therefore the sales of the x factor song remain unaffected.

and i think the chart would monitor a multiple purchase buy of 40k singles, he'd have to spread it out, but yeah i'm sure he could masterplan it if he felt the need to.

  12. THE CINEMATICS + FREE KORPS + THE MARRIONETTES

    Monday 7th December 2009, 7.30pm, Snafu, Aberdeen, 6

    Cinematics tickets via Seetickets.com

The Cinematics are currently touring the UK and Germany showcasing songs from their second studio album, Love and Terror which was released earlier this year.

About The Cinematics & Love and Terror:

With these guys, when they are good, they are damn good. They offer top-notch musicianship, lyrics that are far better than those from most rock bands, and what seems to be a new found passion for setting themselves apart from their peers. One cant help but wonder if this band is on the cusp of something huge and if this is a good album that will ultimately be but a precursor to a great one.

    The Cinematics on MySpace

High pace indie rock with edgy riffs and pounding drums. Highly influenced by anything from Iggy Pop to Aphex Twin, an exciting live show that has been cited as stimulating and with bucket loads of energy.

The second half of 2009 has seen the return of Marionettes with no less than two new members, a fresh sound and a new direction.

Free Korps are a electronica driven four piece who combine the synthetic sounds of electric music with a traditional live band set up. Playing songs that fuse traditional guitar based influences such as The Chameleons and Idlewild with masters of technology such as Depeche Mode and The Chemical Brothers, Free Korps create an infectious sound that permeates fans of all musical persuasions.

  13. aye a 15 certificate in the new cinema on a friday night, i knew i was playing with fire, not my choice, would've preferred elsewhere but guess it's not until you have a movie ruined that you wisen up. would really have liked some of the staff to quietly tell them to be quiet or ask them to leave but i didn't want to leave the film to go and ask them but i really should've asked for refund or them to be removed. i mean if they police the audience against piracy surely it can't be that hard to police against young knobs.

the film relies on you hearing the "noises" in the night and those ucks destroyed any anticipation/excitement with stupid noises & giggles of their own.

  14. The main problem is the misconception about x factor. In reality, it's a tv light entertainment show not a genuine singing competition. But too many of todays' quick fix instant fame crowd think it's an easy shortcut to celebrity, without all the bother of learning your trade and building a reputation over several years.

but it kinda is a quick fix instant fame for some with a suitable background story & awful vocals, gets them on the telly which is one of their main goals, another being the delusion of them (& all their family/friends) that they were any good & going to progress... so most have a no-lose situation, as even if they are awful at least they got on the telly.

i mean i had the unfortunate experience of seeing a bit of "the xtra factor" a while back and it was still giving coverage to that old lady with the dog that couldn't sing from auditions, guess that show struggles for content!
