  1. Dunno about the sound being too quiet. I wasnt even at the gig but I could hear it when I was walking through Golder Square last night on my way to Under The Hammer.
  2. Flaming Katy played for us a few months back, they were very good.
  3. I knew I should have resized it. It just says "I found it, it's real" nothing special really just a touch of herbally influenced pretentiousness.
  4. Any Ideas who support will be? Just out of interest, im going no matter what
  5. Man the garthdee campus is beautiful (If you ignore the buildings) We used to go and sit down the river on big trees which had half fallen into the water. Admittedly Old Aberdeen is nice, but you've got monstrocities like the zoology building and the halls and stuff, that and its surrounded by Tillydrone, Seaton and Powis.
  6. Why do you talk like somebody out of The Broons?
  7. Gad, theres still one of these running. Any need to start a new one?
  8. I say go for it. You might win a prize.
  9. I went to RGU, got my honours degree, and now work in a shop. Although that is just a stop gap. I did go to Art School and there are fuck all related jobs up here in my field. Which is why I am moving. I always resented being at RGU doing the course I was doing as the rest of the university is totally geared towards money and jobs and employment and selling, I wasnt there for any of that, I was there to expand my knowledge and further my development as an artist, which many people ridicule and slag because of the "How are you going to get a job with that" approach, Which was actually the stance of RGU towards Grays. Saying that Grays is currently the second highest rated Art School in Scotland and third in Britain. Which, kinda ballses up the arguement that every course in Glasgow and Edinburgh is better than its equivalent in Aberdeen. For your own personal case, I dont have a clue I'm afraid. Know nothing about IT Courses but RGU does have a pretty stong computing department apparently, but dont know about Aberdeen.
  10. I got a pretty decent pickup for about fifteen quid about five years ago. Have since lost that guitar to a house-fire and never got round to finding a pickup for my current acoustic. Dont play live at all any more.
  11. hah, far from. But we have pulled off an amazing line up this time, really looking forward to it. Then dont.
  12. I'll have to check them out, as for your other posts, well have to say I kinda half-agree with you now and see where you are coming from now you've said your bit. I still think there are a lot of really good bands in aberdeen. The bands you are talking about most definatelly weren't always as together as they are now and it'll have taken a lot of work to get where they are that is why they are touring more now. I find watching a band get better as they play is one of the most exciting things about watching them live, and there are a lot of bands that have won me round as I see them get better. Hopefully the local bands will be able to get good enough to win you over.
  13. I hardly bother looking in the wasteland these days. I'll probably not look at all now.
  14. Your only touting your own personal opinion, those bands you mentioned arent to my tastes, And at the end of the day "shit/gear/sound/professionalism" are irrelevant as long as people can put a good set together and keep people entertained. I know of plenty bands made up of people who are far from the greatest musicians but they can pull together a decent entertaining set. I dont think there is anything wrong, there are more decent, entertaining, together bands in Aberdeen than there are in Edinburgh for instance, and just because you dont like them doesnt mean they are shit.
  15. I think this whole thread is humouring you, plenty of people have made lists, not that they are needed.
  16. Ok, here goes, im either going to get ignored as usual or jumped on, but frankly I dont care any more. I think there are plenty of decent bands in aberdeen, Copy Haho, The Holy Folks, Kenetic, Stanley, Rescue Party, Kitchen Cynics, Edgar Prais and Hookers Green to name but a few. I'm not from Aberdeen, but I love music and thats what got me into Djing which eventually got me into promoting. But it seems to me that there is just one giant chip on the shoulder of this town. But it has a fucking brilliant music scene, considering the size of the place, there are plenty of decent venues and shitloads of bands. Admittedly there are a lot of absolute shite but there are decent bands in equal measure, and quite frankly this continual "oh theres no decent bands" pish which bounded around these forums on a regular basis are starting to really piss me off. Aberdeen is a small city, it is miles away from the "hub" of the central belt but still I am constantly amazed with the new, inventive and exciting bands which are based here. As for Promotion, i dont get this anti-promoter feel which I have seen, all promoters do is provide a new and interesting slant on the whole idea of viewing and listening to music. With Underflow, what Callum and I are doing is trying to introduce bands which are big in other places to aberdeen audiences and hope the effect works both ways in giving people the chance to see bands they dont usually see and allow the bands to experience an Aberdeen audience and local line ups which will hopefully allow the local bands to be talked about once the touring bands go home. There is a thriving music scene up here, being held back by its own attetude, stop moaning about how you think things are shit up here and take an interest.
  17. and I'd agree. See you against the wall come the revolution.
