  1. been onto the police, theres no CCTV on that part of the street, no shops nearby just wondering if anyone who might have been at the Tunnels Last night had seen anything.
  2. Yeah I saw them both in Nice N Sleazy's after the Editors gig in The Garage a couple of months ago. Now that night was a celeb-fest. But alas, no celebs spotted last night. (Apart from the ones on stage) Was totally digging Paul Thomson's David Shrigley T-Shirt. Andy Knowles, the guitar tech/drummer/keyboardist is Shrigley's Studio assistant dont you know?
  3. yeah reported it this morning. waiting for Autoglass to come and give me a new window. still mightily pissed off.
  4. personally id like to stick a large blunt instrument up their tooter
  5. 22, born in dumfries, lived in stranraer till I was eighteen, moved to Dumfries to go to college for a year, got into grays, moved to Aberdeen, have been living here ever since. Hopefully moving to glasgow when I graduate.
  6. a fucking ace gig, The 1990s were pretty good, cool songs bit of Bowie in there, good raport with the audience although the singer was the goofiest person i have seen in a long time Editors, what can I say? Blew me away, always knew they would. The Franz, oh my fucking god, Alex Kapranos is the ultimate showman. Every band should start like that blasting out two huge songs as loud as hard and as energetic as possible. And playing for an hour and a half, five song encore. my god, three people on one drumkit! I have an entire new level of respect for the boys Ferdinand.... What else can I say?
  7. My car was broken into last night outside the tunnels While I was DJing. Some inspired soul smashed my passenger window in and stole my jacket. Not sure how much it will cost to repair the window, and there was nothing really in my jacket apart from the stub to the Franz Ferdinand gig which i was SO FUCKING PROUD OF! If anyone was leaving the tunnels after the Miles Hunt Gig, or at some other point during the night and saw anything (The car was parked on Carnegies Brae, just around the corner from the actual Tunnel) please let me know, it must have happened between eleven thirty and two thirty while I was in the building. Put a damper on what could have been a fucking amazing night. oh and if the person who did pan in my window and steal my coat is reading this.... your a fucking cunt.
  8. I use Lassie much to often i think. Never thought about it really

  12. Im in my final year of Art School, and I came here to learn how to be an artist, to improve my skills and I want to go on to a job in Visual Arts, be it in a gallery, an arts office or as a practicing artist. Art School gives you the time and space to work out how to be an artist, how to make Art and how to critique your own work and that of your peers. It also allows you to study alongside like-minded people working in a variety of different ways. Its not easy, its not a joke, we are expected to do nine-to-five days, produce a massive body of work and at the end of the four years put on a show of professional standard. To many people, the subjects they study are the subjects they study which, like a job, are put on hold at the end of the day. Artists are different, the subject is so personal to us that we are constantly thinking, recording, and critiquing, it is not a job, it is our lives, how we deal with things. Also Art School is not an easy ride, it can be infuriating and at times soul destroying. If you dont do the work, you get a hard time, even when you do the hard time we have crits where your work can be slated picked apart and you can be left totally flattened, I know its happened to me many times. The real world for an artist is a difficult one as well, and we are taught that from the beginning. We know its hard we know its a struggle but there are still plenty of us willing to go on and try and make a living from it. I just find it contrived that people are still having a go at art students. We study fine art for a purpose and too right it should be subsidised, simply because you cant understand it does not give anyone the right to start throwing the "TAX PAYERS MONEY? FOR "ART"?" banners across the rooftops. Art is as valid as every other subject, some people may not see it as such, but if there was no subsidised arts subjects we probably wouldnt see the films we do now, listen to the music we do and the world would be a rather drab place. It is possible to be an artist without going to Art School, and many successfull artists didnt get a very good degree, but Art Schools provide the basis for people to blossom in critical thinking, and creative expression. If art was so redundant why do people still buy works, why do local authorities commission public artists to make work to brighten up public spaces. The "Art Degree is not worth the paper it is written on" is something else indeed, it is a subject that cannot be fairly graded, the grading is purelly subjective therefor you might do really well at assessments at art school but be shit as an artist in the real world, and vice versa. Basically that last paragraph is the only relevant part to the debate, but the rest backs up that studying Art and the level of degree you get at the end of it are purelly different kettles of fish entirelly.
  13. Oasis? what? one, it sounds like every other oasis song and two, it rips off an old Travis song.
  14. Franz Ferdinand - Take me out Cracking monumental tune.
  15. i know about the trappings of DIY promotion, and understand the fact that if money isnt made on the door then it has to come out of the promoters own pocket. However at the end of the day paying the bands is priority. I dont think this argument is ever going to be settled, but i am with the 44s on this one, they came played a blinding set and then expected to be paid for their travel. They arent money grabbing shits out for their own profit, they are trying to keep themselves afloat so they can keep making music. Anyway their music is great, they're a sound bunch of people and are just trying to keep making that music and playing to people. Like Ian said, if they play two or three unpaid gigs then they'll go under.
  16. Fair play, but i would loose respect if the promoter was careless enough to leave a pile of money in a place it could be easily stolen, Not saying it was not a pretty shitty thing to happen. Just dont have a go at them for conducting themselves in a professional manner. They have been around the block a long time and have passed the "Playing as payment" stage.
  17. oh god that looks shit. I preferred the old heads
  18. dont be a cock, the band showed up, played their set. They should have got paid whether or not half the takings got nabbed. That isnt their problem. They had to go back to glasgow, how were they to know if they would see any money at all? Dont have a go at them for covering their own back, three cars dont run from glasgow to aberdeen and back on nothing.
