I was in OneUp the other day, and they were playing Cathedral. Groovetastic! And METAL to the core. So shut your flapping mouth!

Entertainingly, the Cathedral CD was replaced by a Tindersticks one, and the phrase "Tindersticks kick the crap out of Catherdral" was uttered for the first time in history by the shop lacky. Good to know there is some originality in Aberdeen after all....hey, where's Stripey when you need him.....

*EDIT* I can't actually remember which band it was that replaced Cathedral, but it was someone fey and wank like the Tindersticks. But the story is funnier with false detail than none at all.....

No, I'm afraid they're not reforming, but Tim Williams is back with new band Bloodsimple. (www.bloodsimpleband.com). Having problems downloading the new tracks, but it seems the band pick up where VOD left off at "From Bliss To Devastation", which, while not the peak of their powers, I liked a lot. More metal than hardcore, but should be ace stuff.

Off to listen to Imprint now......

New Converge is ace, I reckon - it is a little different, but still Converge to the core. Reckon you'll dig it - not quite a "Jane Doe", but better than 99% of the stuff out there.....

I dunno, it's just the way things are - mates go see mates bands, and usually don't give a fuck about the music. That's how it is. Stick the touring act in the middle, if they have a low profile, and they'll probably play to a few more people.....

OneUp is now my favourite record shop, as each successive visit to the West Nicolson branch of Avalanche has been more and more dissapointing. Used to be so ace...

As to the Belmont street situation - I leave this city in a mere 13 days, so my opinion is really becoming irrelevant.....

Here see how this goes down. You are offered to start a label and buy fives bands to start you off. Probelm being that you are given stipulation on each band that you sign

1. first band has to be very established band. 3 albums or more and very well known by most in the comunity/genre.tag they are part of

2. second is the popular new band. not released more 2 albums but have had phenonmenal succes so far

3. third band is dedicated following band. a band who in total have sold lots of records but over a period of time. mainly only bought as i say by their dedicated following

4.fourth is a uk band. no more stipulation that that.

5.fifth is the next big thing. the band who have yet to be noticed but you believe are about to explode

only other stipulation is the band have to still be a band at the present time and not split up
