  1. add a bit of hemiola and you're taking about a good old - fashioned progressive night in!
  2. I think we have all forgotten one excellent example of blistering Atom guitar work - the intro to Chasing Ghosts... ...without blowing my own trumpet, of course.....
  3. Indeed! I would have also accepted Who is the bass player in Black Atom? Who knows? (or who cares, depending on how brutally comical one is feeling at the time of delivery). For the record, I do actually like Erskine, but he's such a soft target. His fists, knees and elbows, however, are very hard and so I will take this opportunity to apologise for any emotional scarring this ribbing may have caused. I await my punishment with fearful anticipation.
  4. I think you've succeeded in annoying our forum members. I hope you've change your profile. Please go away.
  5. Re: Re: Re: Re: What would you like us to cover? It's not sad at all. It's paying homage to a band or performer that has influenced that particular band. Sometimes it's an obvious cover, but occassionally a cover can show a completely different side to a band. All my favourite bands have performed covers at one point or another during their careers. In particular, Dream Theater have performed 'Number of the Beast', '2112' and 'Master of Puppets' in their entirety during various concerts. As a fan, it was interesting and enjoyable to learn what had inspired the band to form and begin writing their own material. I doubt whether they did this to satisfy a few teenage MTV kids, do you? Either open your mind up a little, or change your profile.
  6. I thought the one about Erskine being a bass player was hysterical! ....that was a joke, right?
  7. Actually, suggestions for a spooky halloween cover would be great! Famous theme music or a tune from a soundtrack? Does that have any bells ringing?
  8. Nice idea, but we actually cover it two years back at the AUBL Halloween gig! Keep thinking!

While you're say charming (twice), also try these choice cuts from the rump of the English language. Whagina (to possess alot of vagina, ie. a whag of vagina) Trainy (to possess the qualities of a train) Boatt (A larger than average boat) Gluttiny (To eat alot but retain a small waistline) Decox (the remove the shouting man from the front of the boat) And you said they weren't real words, Johnston! Whose laughing now?! I am! I am laughing now! And with that, I bid you FADIOS! (a whimsical short - lived display of friendship on departure)

  12. It's not rubbish, it's quite charming. We were listening to ...Disco yesterday and there were some things we did which were ropey but there were also alot of things which we did originally that we'd forgotten about and stopped playing! I'm sure if you spoke to the right sources a copy could mysteriously turn up. If it does, pass on a copy to me!
  13. Do you prefer the lengthy metal fests of Sign of the Cross, Paschendale, Alexander the Great and Chasing Ghosts (amongst others) or the short bursts of Futureal, The Last Day, For Whom the Bell Tolls and Wildest Dreams? I'm not restricting it to just Maiden, Metallica or Atom, it's just they were the first ones at came into my head!
  14. The only thing I'm not keen on in DOD is the chorus of Age of Innocence. I'm not convinced it makes sense in the context of the song. Apart from that, it's a great album with lots to be talked about! Up the Irons!
  15. I think Overture 1928 would be a great cover. It's instrumental - MENTAL - being the operative word, but it's ace! The Prisoner, Die With Your Boots On or Revelations would get my nod. As for Metallica, I'm not fussy but a bit of warning for the early stuff would be nice to I can warm up by calf muscles! Oh and the theme tune to Cheers....
  16. Ersk, There are two ways to look at this 1. It's probably the least amount of notes you're going to have to play in a long time or 2. If you don't do it, I might just accidentally write a bass part for you in 46.9/8 No pressure, just love
  17. I've just checked! The 16th is a Friday! I don't feel so bad now! What a considerate genre of music Prog is....
  18. Indeed! I got a bit excited there. It's kind of difficult walking around with about three songs in progress in your head and then being asked to understand words in front of you! You'll thank my stupidity some day I hope. In the meantime, mock away...
  19. Um.....well, I did consider being diligent for a good 8 minutes after that post.... And what's worse, I've not only rope fellow music teaching diploma student Mac into the carnage, but Dan from Loaded is going to be joining the mayhem! Oh well, there goes my future.... BRING THE PROG!!!!!!!
  20. I only wish they'd play further north so it wasn't such a moral conundrum for me! Should I miss college and prog out with the Theater or should I be a good student and stay diligent to my course work? Stay tuned.....
  21. I'm up for it. It's a Thursday innit? We're playing on Sunday at Drakes already but what the hell! Will get hold of the others asap.
  22. So do I, but unlike our intrepid bassist, I don't go about pretending I've drunk so much "beer" that I can't remember how to play our songs! Incidentally, I still don't have a clue what Joe is talking about and apparently neither do the other guys. ....the plot thickens.....
  23. I'm pretty sure they know about Erskine and his secret fondness for dandelion and burdock. He pretends he's a drinking man, but really, he switches his pints of vicar's ruin with a refreshing glass of girlie juice.... Or maybe it's Mac's secret brand of mullet sustainer, Gu Doo... Or is it a certain singer's love of kittens, flowers and the colour pink? He has pink balloons in his house folks, and takes baths in tubs of strawberry milkshake..... Thank goodness I'm too lazy to conjure up blatant lies about Rass and I. I only hope that what you know I somehow know, because I have no idea what it is. I'm just the drummer, after all.....

    Yey!!!!

I think someone should make Joe an avatar in his hour of need. He may not be long for this world.... I am away to write a progressive love ballad in his memory...
