  1. Which episode of CSI was that, I downloaded a whole bunch of the latest ones ages ago. Now I have no Idea where they are up to? o_O

The one by the 2+1/2 men writers is cleverly called "two and a half deaths" and all about a bunch of comedy writers. series 8 episode 16, it's a bit dump, lots of cameos and in-jokes.

I think there' been once since that but i haven't been arsed acquiring it yet

In other news, your avatar is awesome, zero punctuation is freaking ace. :)

  2. CIS (original version)...... Occasionally it throws in an 'amusing' episode which usually doesn't work (like this week's comedy writers one....the in jokes about jumping the shark were too accurate, I thought.)

Yeah this weeks was a bit odd, apparently the CSI writers and Three & a Half Men writers swapped shows for one episode, so that was the 3+1/2 men's take on csi, i fear what the csi guys take on a 'comedy' show may be.

Actually, quick rant, i also noticed a pointless mythbusters cameo in last weeks ep, i hope they're not going to pad all the new episodes out with needless cameos and writer swaps, theres been heaps in this season, it kinda makes me think they're starting to run out of ideas. Sad Face.

  3. 1. CSI - Mainly the Vegas show because of the characters, Gil, Rick and Greig especially, plus they have better storylines imho. Tho i do like the sheer excess of Miami (and H's crippling disability to utter anything other than cheddarific one liners). NY is ok, stories are good but not much a fan of the team.

    2. Lost - Surprised to see this in so many lists actually, despite the fact i (without fail) let out a disappointed sigh at the end of every episode, i do like lost, just clinging on for dear life in the hope that they'll reward us after so many years of head scratching with an answer or twa. Regardless of how much it annoys me, i watch it/dl it every single week without fail, compulsive viewing.

    3. Heroes - Was very unsure of it for about 3/4 of season one, but it was so worth it. I hoping it's not going to descend into mediocrity as the seasons go on. Love the scale of the interlinking storylines, tho pretty mind bogging at times.

    4. Without a Trace - Now, i've not watched much of the recent series of it, but S1 was essential viewing. Jack Malone is an awesome character, great writing, love it.

    5. My Name is Earl - One of few comedies on at the moment that make me "lol" and want to come back for more.

    6. Mythbusters - Coz i'm a closet science g33k really :) plus they're a tad more thorough than those brainiac boys.... and well, it always ends in a big bang, easily amused, what can i say.

    7. QI - Always seems to be on Dave in the wee hours when i'm searching for something to do, love it.

(i should probably mention Mock the Week, HIGNFY and Buzzcocks as they're always on around the same time as QI and i aaalways watch them, tho the second two are really only good depending on the host/panel)

    8. Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares - Not watched it since it was on originally, but More4's been showing the American ones recently and i've been quite enjoying it. All episodes are pretty much identical, but i do so enjoy the looks on the smug american owners faces when he tears them a new one.

    9. Scrubs - Love scrubs, alas its always the same episodes that are on telly. Tho i think i could probably listen to Dr. Cox ranting for hours on end and not get bored.

10......I've run out of telly... I guess just to fit in i should prolly mention Family Guy, the first couple of seasons made me lmao, but there's only so far you can go before you turn into south park and you're in it just to piss people off and offend. Red Dwarf's always on dave too, i do like, but i fear i may of watched them to death. Which is a seriously bad thing! Futurama's pretty much in that boat too, seen them all so any times! which is a shame coz it's probably my favourite animated show on.

    Fin.

  4. Oh right, then I guess myself and everyone else who read the article had the exact same image in their head. It was like when I read that story about the hero cop who broke his back after getting hit on his motorcycle. For some reason, I had this disturbing image of a police constable writhing in pain or possibly paralysed or dead, lying beside a toppled motorbike!

ok you're hilarious, you win teh internetz0r, it just make me laugh thats all, knowing drunks and their (very occasionally) funny ways (like the guy who used to frequent our bar dressed as sherlock holmes claiming to be a part of a fancy dress party, but was by himself). I know there's nothing funny about alcoholism, just the things they come up with can be pretty (tragic, but) funny.

I apologise for posting something that might come across as blindingly obvious, that clearly didnt come up to your high levels of what you deem acceptable, i'll take your critique on board and aim to do better with my next post.

  5. What on earth put such a vivid and obscure image in your head?

Might of had something to do with the story on the bbc website that stripey linked to (at the top of this page) about an alcoholic who dressed up as darth vader and "attacked" some young jedis with a crutch.

Other than that i'm not sure.

I guess my imagination just works in totally, like random ways.... lolzosaurus

  6. Haha when i read that earlier i had this fantastic image in my head of some alcoholic falling out of a bush wearing a binbag, waving a crutch around shouting 'daaaarth vaddddeeeerrr'. Best Vader impression ever.

It was likely funnier in my head mind.

  7. Thats cool, i keep buying these rythm games then realising a)i'm pap at them and b)they generally hold my attention for about a week then i never play them again. So that horrific price should save me 'accidentally' picking it up. That and it's not on the PS3.... Hold on....

Why the funk isn't it on the PS3? Wasn't 360 exclusive anywhere else?

..oh right summer yeah... meh, no room for any more plastic peripherals anyhoo.

  8. Just to reply to a couple to things said....

I dont understand how bassment is always mint when I go in there. Good atmosphere, toilets are aright and they do great cocktails (fuck off, you're gay). But then you go to Moshulu and it is an absolute shit-tip, they are related aren't they? o_O

Without offending the hard-working and long-suffering moshulu staff... That matter is really all down to staffing.

The bassment is open every day, and at far more sociable hours than the club. unlike moshulu we actually have such a thing as full time staff. And atleast until Barfly took over, we had a very commited bunch of full timers. When the place is dead cleaning will be done, and with Sun-Tues being pretty quiet, theres plenty of scope to get the clean on. Unlike the shulu, which is only open 3 nights a week (unless there's a gig), the staff come in, stock and set up the bar, get an arse-raping, clean up and go home. Because of the nature of the club there's really not much scope for maintaining any level of cleanliness outside of the bare day-to-day minimum. Especially now with the 'powers that be' reducing staffing levels to bare bones to save money.

i remember the palace being loved for being a dump. being as dump was one of the things that gave it "character" apparently' date=' and I remember people always trying to benchmark moshulu vs the palace.[/quote']

funny, i was thinking this too, i dont really get it.

The palace was (in all honesty) a fucking hole, and it is remembered fondly by all (myself included) moshulu is a hole, and people stop going and bitch about it non-stop.

I'm hardly arsed, but i dot follow. I'm sure in 5 years there will be a thread celebrating the state moshulu is currently in and there will be lots of fond memories to be shared :)

At the start of termtime in September they pushed a new metal/alternative night on Mondays and a monthly metal/hardcore night on Thursdays' date=' but they never got off the ground. I can't say for sure whether this was down to poor promotion, excessive competition or simply the quality of entertainment on the given nights, but you can't accuse Moshulu of lack of effort in this sphere.[/quote']

First off, great post. Nail. On. Head.

Also, the Punk/Hardcore night on mondays never kicked off mainly due to mondays being a fairly diluted night already across the city in terms of clubnights. Also, without offending anyone, the bar didnt really do to well with a room mostly consisting of straight-edge punters.

The Thursday Metal night started off very promising but as is too often the case with moshulu, everyone moans about there not being 'A Metal Night' but no-one turns up when you do one. The first night was very encouraging but a few weeks in the attendance had dwindled to the point which the promoter at the time had no option but to cancel.

In situations like these you have to remember, the 'powers that be' down the road just see a bunch of figures, and in these two instances which weren't very encouraging, they start asking questions. Alas, it is after all 'a business'.

The fucking guns are lucky they haven't been launched against any walls yet.

Hahah, i did this the other day, i strongly recommend it. Gave a great deal of pleasure it did.

  9. Having spent quite alot of time in Moshulu over the past 3 n a half years i feel kinda compelled to wade in on this one.

Its a shame the state of the place, it really is, for the best part there's a fairly commited and hard working bunch of staff in there, i know people will have thier objections to that but it's true.

Trying to clean Moshulu is very like trying to 'polish a turd'. The place has seen alot of neglect over the years and it isn't a case of just 'cleaning it'.

The Infamous Carpet has been there for a decade, so no surprise it's in an awful state (plus it's a carpet in a nightclub.. come on!), we have had a carpet cleaner on it a few times, but it is alot like painting a bridge, if you did manage to make it over the whole thing (which would take over a week) the front would be sticky again by the time your done. The carpet IS due to be ripped up in the near future. When i was in for my meeting with one of the head honchos about 2 months ago they were in the process of basically rebuilding the Borderline in London from the ground up, after that they were refurbing one other venue down south, then it is our turn. Carpet up, toilets fixed up and i think a paint job may be on the way too. I dont know if the structural issues are going to be dealt with (like the fact the main area floor is covered in holes, or when 300 people jump on the dancefloor the bassment roof looks like an earthquake is hitting, but i'd like to think they wont just overlook major issues like these).

In all honesty, if it was up to me and money was no object, i'd gut the entire building down to the bare bones and start from scratch, the whole lot, pretty much everything as far as woodwork/electrics/plumbing (see dirty water feature on dancefloor every saturday) is ducked and hasn't seen any proper attention in years (ie stuck together with duct tape rather than professional attention). But that's never going to happen, ho-hum.

Just to address a couple other things mentioned, the new tills, yeah, they're a bit radical they do take a bit of getting used to as there's no main console to them. They do seem slower, but its just a case of geting to used to where all those ruddy barcodes are (particularly hellish in the bassment with the hundred odd back bar spirits and 60+ cocktails each with their own induidual barcodes) but it is "the fastest epos system there is"... apparently ;) tis a steep learning curve but i'm sure it'll be second nature in no time.

as for bog roll, i dunno if it's the age group we seem to attract, but if you put bog roll holders up (which we seem to have to do on an all too regular basis) some fucker will rip it down, so you have to leave the bog roll beside the toilet, then some fucker will put it down the toilet, replace the bog roll, repeat happens and so on. I appreciate it just makes the place look bad, little things like that, but what can you do.

I'm sure its a case of the place looks like crap so why expect anyone else to treat it with any respect, but anyway yeah, thats why.

Oh yeah, and there's no goffs/metallers there anymore coz they're all sulking that we don't do air guitar in the front room anymore, (its still on in the back room incidentally) even tho it rarely broke the 200 mark on attendance.

    Moshulu Sold Out, man.

Theres no real reason for the rant, but the place never has anyone stand up and say exactly what's going on, and i'm bored of reading about the carpet being sticky, yes it's appauling, and if it were just a case of twiching our nose and conjouring a new flooring out of thin air i assure you we would of done it ages ago. I just like everyone else cannot wait to have a cerimonial burning of the current carpet.

Anyway, not making excuses for the state of the place, it is horrid and sorely neglected We do regularly spend far too much on staffing by getting people in to scrub, but as you can see it's just a massive undertaking.

I can only hope after the promised refit that it'll be come a nicer place to visit and hopefully the attitudes of some of the punters will improve towards the place.

    Cheers for reading :)

  10. ooh, what u got dude?

    rassnewbass.jpg

    Epiphone Blackbird :)

It plays great, which is why i dont wanna screw with it, but the strings are sitting too low on the 1st fret, so when they are fret they buzz off the second. Its only really bad on the G which i rarely use, but i wouldnt mind having it sorted.

  11. Is there anyone in town who does repairs/sets up instruments at a reasonable price?

It's been a while and im a bit out of touch. Havent put anything in since neil was at prosound.

Nothing major, really just needing my new bass set up and i thought i'd do it the justice of not attempting it myself :)

    Cheers!

  12. your cd might be corrupt,

and yes they should be unless you have a sata hard disk, how old is your computer?>

the cd's brand new (lost me old one), as for the parts, it's kinda a frankenstein of a couple of old pc's one HD is mine (western digital 120Gb bought in 2005) the one on the slave i honestly couldnt tell you, tho i think its maybe a year or 2 older.

It did say something in advanced bios about "-bootable add-in device: Onchip SATA RAID"

dunno if that's relevant but the word sata just rang a bell.

i'm gunna have a quick look n make sure i didnt knock any cables out when i put the side of the case on too, that would prolly explain the problem booting to HD if it wasnt in right?

  13. try booting it without the CD in see if it gives you an error message like invalid parition...change secondary boot to None if you can in the bios.

when i do that it just stops and says boot cd error, please insert system cd (or something to that effect)

ok quick question, in cmos, where it lists all the ide connections, am i right in thinking my hard drives should be in that list somewhere?
