  1. from a website perspective, it is so simple and to the point it can't be flawed, totally effective for what your meaning to do.

Only thing i'd do is change the 'visited link' colour on the home page as it gets lost in the backround image. Apart from that, all is well!

  2. Just to ease the confusion over the 'how many stars you can have' discussion, it says the following on the Burj al-Arab's wikipedia page:

    * The hotel's self-characterization as a "7-star" property is considered by travel professionals to be hyperbole, and an attempt to out-do a number of other hotels which claim "6-star" status. All major travel guides and hotel rating systems, however, have a 5-star maximum. According to the hotel's official site, the Burj al Arab is a "5-star deluxe hotel".

  3. It feels like that time of year for the obligitory wasteland Halloween thread.

Is anyone doing anything for it this year? i know theres a gig on in Drummonds and Moshulu shall be open as it is every year. Only bother being it's falling on a tuesday, but hell, it only happens once a year!

    Whats everyone doing/dressing up as?

  4. Okay, ignore my original Post...

15th gig has fallen through and as is explained in the other thread on our forum Ragnarok has been cancelled

But on the brighter side of things, halloween's still there!!

There may also be some scope for a gig in december, but we shall be back to you on that one.

    Gar....

  5. The learning curve on the first game was very smooth i thought.

Of course you will be shite on the hardest song on the hardest level if you dive in there first.

If you work your way through all the songs from beginning to end on easy then through the difficulties, they've done a great job of introducing slightly harder licks then speeding it up a bit then chucking in harder buttons as you go through slowly bit by bit. Am currently half way through Hard and its not nearly as bad as i thought it would be when i had my first stab at it.

No need for the rant really, its was just one of the main things that struck me about the first one that it's learning curve was very organic.

  6. I'm not sure i'm awfully keen on half that playlist, doesn't seem to be as full of guitar anthems as the first one.

Mind you, opening with Shout at the Devil probably got me off on the wrong foot to start with, lord knows i'll buy it anyway.

  7. Yeah i'll agree with all that, the beggining was ace, there was a big ahhhhh! when they panned out of that book club and the leader of the others appeared and started barking orders.

Looks like the first few episodes are going to be fairly slow burners with very few answers, setting the scene for the rest of the season. It was pretty good tho.

Problem is, i got into lost when season 2 had nearly finished, so i kinda tanned 3/4 episodes a night catching up from the start, so waiting a week for the next one is gonna be a bit of a drag.

  8. Hey dudes, Got some Atom gigs coming your way for Oct/Nov...

15th October - Black Atom, Seven Stone Under & Risactonia @The Moorings Bar

31st October - Fat Hippy Halloween Show featuring Karloff, Hot Mangu, Black Atom and Captain Face @ Cafe Drummonds

3rd November - Fimbulvetr, Ragnarok Festival Preshow @ Doghouse, Dundee

Hope to see everybody at a couple of these, we're currently trying to make up for lost time over the summer due to other commitments.

Hopeing to unveil our new, as yet un-titled opus at the Halloween show, so don't miss it!

    Hope everyone's well out there.

  9. 'Paperback Writer' by The Beatles always makes me laugh. I used to piss off an old friend on mine by singing the whole thing in a scouser accent so it kinda reminds me of that. It's also uber up beat and just a superb wee pop tune. :)

Which also reminds me, Lady Madonna, its got such an ace feel to it.

and possibly Go Go Gadget Gospel by Gnarls Barkley, but im not sure that thats maybe just because i think its ace and it makes me happy, as opposed to it being a happy song.

  10. I thought the piano worked quite well with their sound, it gave the whole thing a certain mood. It wasnt brilliant, but i think if they sat down and re-wrote it a bit better for acoustic it would of been ace.

Oh and whoever was wondering why the backing artists were wearing masks, i guess it has something to do with the artwork from the album no-one seems to have ;)

  11. When we used to sell tickets through See' date=' they would state that the tickets were a box office collection, rather than just inform that the code they give out is shown at the door on the night for entry. Confusing, we got a load of phone calls from people wondering when they could pick tickets up. [/quote']

Same for Moshulu shows, print out confirmation email and present it at the door for said gig, you'll get your ticket there.

  12. Its fair enough i think that they finally came up with a definition for a planet and tried to re-arrange thinga a little bit. I always got the impression that they were finding new largeish objects in the solar system all the time and just not classifying them as they didnt want to shake up what we've known about the solar system for the last few hundred years. Like with Xena, which is bigger than pluto and seemingly more deserving of planet status, they can't just not classify it because it would ruin some books and spoil what we already knew about the galaxy.

Tho i liked what they had proposed last week which was upgrading xena and charon to 'plutons' along with pluto as a kind of outer belt of planets. That also left them some scope to add more as theres talk of there being a host of other celestial bodies beyond pluto we havent discovered yet.

Either way they had to fuck with history, with technology advancing and new things being discovered all the time, be it adding more planets or re-classifying them to loose some, i just find it weird that until now there had never been a proper definition of a planet.

  13. it may be shallow, and although i thought the idea of the programme was good, the whole thought of beauty pageants makes me wanna vom, not to mention that irish bird who was organising it just irritated me from the start, i only saw as far as the american pageant she was in as i had to go out.

Mind you, was only watching coz the only channel i get in my flat is 4.... :(

  14. yeah i spent faaar too long on there looking up tool one night.

Alas it is true, for every intresting post on there theres atleast 10 "dumb fucks" saying "tool are fucking awesome!!1!!one!"

There is some pretty intresting stuff in there tho.
