  1. Cult of Luna - Somewhere Along the Highway. Brilliant album. They still sound huge and metal as f@*k but have more layers and can take it down beautifully whilst still being very dark. Very impressive:headbang:
  2. Really hope I'm proved wrong and don't want to disappoint but last deftones gig at carling academy was terrible. Sound was awful - even chi was getting pissed off. Really hope its better this time. Woulda loved them to be playing the barras
  3. I'm with Dave Officer on this one. Panopticon is one of my all time fave albums but got a kinda tool-10,000days-esque wave of disappointment when i heard this. Too much bass effects? Prefer it when they are beefier and slightly more raw. Need to give it loads of listens tho. On another note, the 1st song on the fishtank ep with aereogramme is absolutely immense.
  4. Shutter blew everyone that I saw away. They were truly awesome.
  5. Take it easy - she is 11 for god's sake. Roddy Woomble from Idlewild took an EP and an album to realise he had to drop the american accent
  6. I would go with the 3-4 track demo and make the first track your strongest song - as someone has already said, it is what labels will listen to. We have recently found a great studio that costs only 200 per day and the sound quality of the recording is great. Its called Unity Studios at Auldern (between Inverness and Nairn) and the sound engineer Alan was great to work with. Check out http://www.myspace.com/smallenclosedarea to see for yourself. I also agree with the whole DIY idea, but you have to have a good ear for sound and know the limits/advantages of the equipment you have.
  7. Yeah Shutter's guitarists Matt and Pete were in Polar. Polar were good but Shutter are sooooo much better. Pity u guys can't sneak along. I'm really looking forward to it
  8. Go and see Shutter. They're easily one of the best bands in scotland at the mo and I reckon the tunnels is the perfect venue for them. smallenclosedarea - Lo Down, Aberdeen, April 2nd
  9. Is fucking brilliant!!!!! Quite a difference from their other stuff and very mezmerising. I suggest everyone rushes out and buys it.
  10. Yeah I think it was non-profit. If I remember right it was only 50 for the supper room. I wouldn't bother with the main hall as the accoustics are pretty crap.
  11. What Jammer says is pretty much right. That gig with Cayto on our tour was the first we had orgainised. We sold just over 300 tickets and we made about 500 after costs to split with the bands. A lot of that was down to the fact Nick (ex-Deadloss, Taylored Sound I think) only charged us 200 for his amazing pa and expertise, and also the promotion element. We went round town flyering, postering and round the two schools to advertise it. I didn't see that many posters/flyers etc for the KLC gig but that might just be me. Its shocking that the local paper won't even feature such a large event for the area, especially when its for charity. Not much you can do about that. I thought 20 was too much to ask punters to pay but it seems overheads were really expensive so I understand the pricing. Please don't give up after one event. I saw enough potential there for something good to happen. Keep trying and good luck in the future.
  12. I have one spare ticket for wednesday at ABC in Glasgow for sale, 15 if anyone fancies it. Just call 620216 and ask for Blair or Drew. You can try me (Blair) on my mobile at 07739969020, but it has no battery and won't be switched on til tomorrow.
  13. oops each to their own is what i meant to say. Look i've been up for 28 hours revising, I'm allowed to mistype.
  14. I can tell you that you don't if you think its nu metal. Maybe that why you feel the way you do about the situation. Do you think its "cool" or part of the show for some guy from a band to stage dive into the crowd and land on a girl and hurt them? Say Ian MacKaye from Fugazi did it? I would say thats probably as bad if not worse than taking down a guy who jumps onto the stage, where he shouldn't be. Anyway I can't be arsed arguing anymore, but thats my opinion. Each to there on own....
  15. What is it with you guys? Just cause a guy buys your cd's and tickets to your gig doesn't mean he has the right to climb on stage mid-song. Get a grip. Where do you draw the line? Do u let a fan shag your wife because, hey "he spent his hard-earned cash on your cd's, t-shirts and tickets." He could have fucked up someone else in the crowd's favourite song. That person has also bought the cd's, t-shirts, tickets etc. Its different if he asked people onto the stage, like FlavaFlav (spelling?) from Public Enemy at the Music Hall. But he didn't. Ah maybe exaggerating a bit with the wife bit but you get my point.
  16. Bullshit. MJK is a legend and a kinda mythical figure to tool fans, partly because of his amazing vocals and partly because of the mystery element surrounding him. Tool fans in general can be quite obsessive (for want of a better word) about him and the band, so if one guy goes on stage and hugs him, you could bet that within 5 mins there would be someone else trying the same thing. Guy got what he deserved I say, he had no right to be there. If he wanted to hug him he could have waited til after the show and asked him, not just climbed onto the stage mid-song. Especially during 'Pushit' which is a brilliant song. Its not as if he punched him.
  17. I couldn't agree more with justincutyou. Serj is an amazing vocalist who has been pushed to the side to accomodate that little shit who plays guitar. Get the feeling he's on a bit of an ego trip. I don't mind him singing in the harmonies which are ace but not the main vocals. Even minus his really annoying vocals the songs aint anywhere near as good as most on the last two albums (not heard steal this album). The album has some ace parts but I'm really disappointed. As for audioslave I've not heard the album the whole way through but I don't like them at all. Chris Cornell's vocals are very nasal and the lyrics terrible. He used to be one of my fave vocalists in soundgarden. Despite that the songs aint good enough anyway. Expected way more from them.
  18. Tempercalm, Small Enclosed Area and Open Air. Will be rocking! Doors 8pm, (not sure of tickets but no more than 5). Apologies for this blatant plug!
  19. This is just a blatant plug to remind everyone about the gig!
  20. Ah I see our reputation goes before us..............!
  21. Just as the title says, Elgin/Aberdeen's Small Enclosed Area will be playing at the Tunnels on Tuesday 26th April supporting Tempercalm, from Glasgow, who are moving along in the world quite nicely. Check out http://www.tempercalm.com/ for info on the band. Not sure how much it is, but should be no more than 5 and doors are 8pm. Hope you can make it http://www.smallenclosedarea.com
  22. No-one comes close to Maynard James Keenan. His vocals in both Tool and APC are both beautiful and haunting
