  1. funny you should mention that...i aquired a nice set of mellotron samples the other day...have used the choir sound on my album.

favourite mellotron moment has to be exit music by radiohead...totally haunting. sent shivers down my spine when i first saw them do it live :)

  2. if you want a professional looking finish...DO NOT DO IT YOURSELF!

    seriously...you will regret it.

i got a couple of dents patched professionally in glasgow and even they made an arse of it...the paint doesnt match the original colour and its coming off already.

Howere i heard there is a better shop in glasgow called Guitar Guitar who are good for this sort of thing.

  3. Interpol were blinding at the Carling academy in December. I can't wait to see them in a festival atmosphere. Should be great and hopefully not full of neds as they don't in any way strike me as a ned band!

hmm...i was surrounded by neds at that gig...all shouting "STELLA" at every available opportunity. good gig though.

  4. At the most basic level the process can be split into recording' date=' mixing, and mastering.

Most bands blow 90% of their budget on the recording, and leave a couple of hours for the mixing and almost nothing for mastering.

This is a really important point. A good quality recording means bugger all if the mix is rubbish...and good mixes take hours or even days to get right...even just for one track. Mastering also extremely important...expecially if you plan to get the tune played on the radio.

  5. Charlotte (one of the forum mods' date=' she still mod here?) was at the same screening as me.[/quote']

ha nice one. we thought it was pretty unexciting to be honest...it just wasnt as good as fight club, yet strikingly similar. was nicely shot though. the bits with the machine accidents made for some uncomfortable watching!
