  1. well Panic! are back with the wonderful Manda and the Marbles (Go Kart Records) but you'll have to ask Sharon bout that. As for The Hunchbacks, I thought they were band of the night too and I'm going to speak to them about me sorting a tour out for them and Regal Beagle (an ace American band who The Queers cover!)
  2. well how ace were Broken Sunshine...it's always better seein them play Drakes cos sounds always better. First time I've seen em since april (I've had good reason tho, you know I do!) and i reckon this was the best they've played...that song number 4 was a great song and even the older songs they've changed around, some nice time changes and soundin a lot more punk... Gilman Street also played best I've seen them (cept the string mishap). I loved that song they played 2nd to last...a right good hardcore tune... shame on anyone who left after them (like most people) cos The Hunchbacks kicked ass and were really funny too and Panic! were also good for that matter, both bands sounded different to the stuff I'd heard but great nonetheless...one of best punk gigs this year methinks

sounds fair. Their's so many views in hardcore than contradict each other anyway and I don't think that just because someone is Christian, they are evil. I have friends who are Christian...perhaps if these bands prove themselves to be homophobic, sexist, racist etc then it's a cause for concern. You don't have to agree with every band you hear. I listen to a lot of sxe bands, doesn't mean I am and I don't feel hypocritical listening to this. I am, in no way pro-Christianity. I don't think it's just christianity that is a concern in hardcore. Just look at the Leeds punk scene, their so politically correct it's frightening!
  6. I can see both sides of the story...the promoter and the venues do suffer by bands bringing a less than full crowd but also bands need to play. There is no better practise for a band than playing live and so the more they play, the better they become.

hmm, i haven't made my mind up on this. im quite partial to the band Ackercocke who are satanists although I'm not a satanist myself. I don't like any Christian hardcore bands (unless comeback kid and the deal are christian...i know their label is christian) and so I can't say if I'd let that get in the way. I suppose as long as they don't preach christianity then i dont have a problem with it
  8. i gotta say i lose a lot of respect for labels that lose their independence and although ive never been a fan of any of the above labels, i can understand how many who do would be upset by this...part of the attraction to me, is this romantic idea of all these great records coming from a little garage...the fact that only a few people have put out these records, for the love of it, not for the money...think of asian man records, dr strange records, recess records...id be very angry if these labels changed their ideals
  9. them lyrics are a bit poo...good emo lyrics are like this: what doesnt kill you makes you stronger, i've heard it said before, my eyes wet through with salty tears but i'm the bastard, "emo kid" i hear you cry, "why let some girl fuck with your mind?" - Fig 4.0, "Angst 4.0 the memories"....well it sounds better when you hear it...maybe like the above but this is from the best album ever, "Action Image Exchange", if you like hardcore please buy it now! www.bombedout.co.uk

    punk zines

I know I'll get accused of being an emo kid for this but I really loved Fracture. Most of the above mentioned are too anarcho orientated for me and are very heavy reading although thats not to say I don't enjoy them...I just like a bit of a mixture of politics and humour along with the music. My fave zine is GADGIE, written by a PE teacher/diy promoter in Boston, England....it has me in stitches, it's so funny! other zines I enjoy is: Small Sailor, Suspect Device, Scanner, Artcore and Headwound to name but a few.... check these out from Death Wish zine Distro www.runningriotrecords.co.uk/smallsailor (i think) im also starting a zine distro in Aberdeen, hopefully that will generate some interest. At the moment I've only got copies of Running on Empty (emo/indie) and Initonit (punk/hardcore feats Send More Paramedics and Swellbellys interviews), if anyone is interested PM me
  21. Misled Youth were ace! A lot more hardcore than I remember...I missed Normans Fetish cos I didnt think they'd be on till 9. Supatones put on a good show but seemed too much like a cabaret, Butlins type band and the singer was annoyin as fuck...still got me dancin tho
