Probably the best example, I reckon...
-
Is 7.45 p/h that much for someone with food hygenie certificates etc? I really don't know.
Jobcentreplus website seems to suggest that the going rate is about minimum wage to 6.25 in the private sector - so yeah, I'd say that it's excessive.
There's other examples too, like people working in leisure facilities getting well over what the private sector would pay for the same person.
-
Not sure about this, personally. I can't say I'm keen on a leadership that chooses cuts in discretionary spending on services affecting the most vulnerable over playing hardball with the unions regarding salaries, pensions and redundancies, which has got to be where the most pork barrel spending is but I somehow doubt this will change that.
The system where people are made redundant and then immediately rehired under somewhat dubious consultancy contracts has to be one of the biggest scams going.
The fact that many casual council workers are getting far more than their equal in the private sector should be looked at as a priority as well - look at this for instance. Aberdeen City Council Job Vacancy . You're not telling me that casual catering assistants in the private sector are getting that kind of money!
-
I'd prefer the Kurt Cobain route. Or even the Chris Benoit route!
If Sandi Thom comes and kills you all with the Crippler Crossface, it's not my fault!
-
Jesus, what kind of psycho murders someone just because of them not working properly?
-
She's in America, surely she could end up starring in a 'stolen sex tape' scandal?
-
The sad thing is this has totally got people talking about her again which I would imagine was the idea behind it anyway. For every person slagging her there is unfortunately an evil opposer spouting shit like "Oh Sandi, you are amazing. I still love you - dont listen to that guy" - Exactly her plan! I smell a massive PR stunt!
It's not a bad ploy to get people talking about you again at all. She got some newspaper column inches out of it and got people talking on here - so for a ten minute job, she's probably got more publicity than she would've done by releasing an ordinary song.
The fact that some people on here are so anti-Sandi means absolutely nothing anyway - they were hardly likely to buy her material in the first place!
-
I'm not telling you. You'll only fucking argue about it...
Oh come on, don't be such a misery guts!
An answer like "It was too expensive to put the physical PS2 hardware inside the PS3 and emulation is too inaccurate" would have done
(I imagine that was the reason, though I could easily be wrong)
I believe "Pwned" is the correct term?Come on..you can only talk about men when you're actually old enough to drink/have hair on your face.
Shouldn't you be outside demolishing phone boxes instead of sitting on the internet, anyway?
-
Every PS3 will play a PS1 game (there may be a few games that don't work at all though). It's only emulation for PS2 games that there is no backwards compatability with on newer models.
What was the logic behind scrapping the backwards compatability anyway?

Any joy with this? Fingers crossed for you.
Me too. Wouldn't wish it on anyone.

ill do it when i get home tonight, ill put a heap of local stuff up ive got gigs on my pc of local music, sirrius eps and stuff like that im sure someone would like a listen.
If you've got any of the Purple Munkie stuff floating around, I'd love to hear it...I lost my copy of their stuff
-
where would i do something like that? Ive got the liber8 ep if someone has the WBL, that is of course if no one from the bands mind.
I've got the WBL cd on this computer somewhere, and the video they did for 124 worlds, which was a bloody ace song.
You could stick it on MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service or RapidShare: Easy Filehosting

mBank and Plus for being a pair of wankers and not letting me pay my mobile phone bill online, tossers.

I just hope that Alan keeps performing live in some sort of fashion. Every time I have seen him has been very enjoyable to say the least, and I don't like anything apparently...
Couldn't agree more.
One of the very, very few people that you actually feel privileged to watch, I think.
-
Liberwishprais were not overhyped, maybe just undermotivated to really get somewhere with it, but you couldnt question the talent or the ability to write very good songs.
I dunno, I saw all three and wasn't impressed at all - Edgar Prais bored me to tears when I them, but the atmosphere might have had something to do with it (a mostly-empty Tunnels), I suppose.
-
I think you should offer some examples first, Cloud.
Fair enough.
Liber8, Alyssa's Wish and Edgar Prais. All three dreadfully hyped up, busy gigs and plenty of talk of how they were amazing and were on the edge of being signed and dominating the world. Seemed to be the same pattern every time, people would rant and rave about them being the best thing ever to come out of Aberdeen, yada, yada, yada - and yet nothing came of it every single time. In fact, this thread was inspired by someone asking me the other day about them.
Colonopenbracket also come to mind - busy gigs, a fairly innovative genre (I remeber talking to Mart about it well before anyone had mentioned 8-bit anywhere), clearly some sort of interest, yet they completely blew it.
Amy Sawyers as well comes to mind, everyone was talking about her, whatever happened to her?
-
I'd be losing out on 72 bucks a week.
I can't stand the use of the word 'bucks' to talk about pounds. Why the hell people have taken an American word for their currency and using it here is entirely beyond me.
It would be like calling 1 euro a quid, or something.
-
I'm sure you're right, Mr Ratner..
Ack, to lose, you have to have something to lose in the first place.
-
There's been plenty of them as far back as I remeber, but what was everyone's favourite overhyped band locally?
-
All publicity is good publicity, so they say....

Would Calderwood had the group stages consisted of home and away games against every team as opposed one game?
Let's see...
Assuming that the current results stand, then Aberdeen would have had home games against Panathinaikos and Atletico Madrid, and away games against Lokomotiv Moscow and FC Copenhagen.
FC Copenhagen would've had home games against Aberdeen and Lokomotiv Moscow, away against Panathinaikos and Atletico Madrid.
Lokomotiv Moscow would've had home games against Aberdeen and Athletico Madrid, away games against Panathinaikos and FC Copenhagen.
Aberdeen would probably have got 1 point from 6 out of the Greeks and Spanish, 1 point away to Copenhagen and 1 from Lokomotiv Moscow. That would've given them 7 points in the group.
FC Copenhagen would've got the 1 point from Aberdeen, 3 from Lokomotiv and nothing from Panathinaikos or Atletico. That would've given them 7 points in the group.
Lokomotiv Moscow would get 1 from Aberdeen, nothing from Atletico, Panathinaikos or Copenhagen. They'd be left on 3.
So - Aberdeen would get the tiebreaker on goal difference most likely (they wouldn't lose by much at home). So yes, purely speculatively, Aberdeen would've done it regardless.

Drop the comic sans - seriously, it's absolutely horrible! It's simply not a good font if you want to be taken at all seriously. If you must have it, then stick with it throughout the website - it's a major design error to use different fonts on a website, at least in my eyes
The other thing - if you're paying for it, then don't accept it until it works through the W3 validation service

Chav metal?
Loads of 'alternative' bands have acted like chavs for years, what's new there?
Some of the most chav like behaviour comes from the alternative crowd anyway.

It seems the wikipedia article on Spotify is incorrect. Their FAQ states availability in Sweden, Norway, Finland, the UK, France and Spain. So, I guess you'll have to use Compact Disc or reel to reel or whatever they use in Poland, unfortunately.
Pah, you think we're using such modern technology?
I'm not surprised Poland has huge problems with piracy when most legal services aren't even available here

About You Now is an ace song full stop.
Fuck me, I hadn't heard this version...even better!
