  1. I think the format is identical to the CL.

Yep, except nothing for 3rd place finishes. Not keen at all on this setup :( Results such as Aberdeen or Lech Poznan getting through to the last 32 just aren't going to happen - which means we'll see the same old teams in the last 32 year in year out, exactly what's wrong with the Champions League. Fair enough, it's better than the nonsense system of the last few years, but it's still designed to ensure that crappy teams don't manage to get very far - which seems completely counterproductive given Platini's vision of getting more countries represented.

I'd have loved to have seen a return of the original Champions League format of having two leagues in the semi final stage with only winners progressing - maybe 2008/2009 wouldn't be such a great example, but taking the year before, you'd have had Bayern Munich, Getafe, Bayer Leverkusen, Zenit St. Petersburg, Rangers, Sporting Lisbon, Fiorentina and PSV Eindhoven all battling it out to get a spot in the final. If that's not enough spots, then they could add in an extra team - 8 games, 5 teams in each semi final league with just one team going through would produce some amazing football as they'd almost certainly have to go for the win in every game.

As an aside, am I right in thinking that Rangers are now in Pot 2 for the Champions League draw as a result of Copenhagen and Panathinaikos going out?

  2. Cadonas has Virtual Striker. Best game. I love how useless the keepers are, except the CPU's keeper, who is unstoppable.

My tried and tested tactic is to play for the draw, then beat them on pens. If you try and score against the CPU, they'll just brutally expose your back four time and time again.

Mind you, if you can get a decent cross in, you should be able to score - it's as bad as FIFA 2001 for that :/

  3. I'm not a fan, because they sometimes act as a trigger for migraines.

Any idea if there's bulbs available that are as 'soft' as the old ones and don't emit such blinding light?

Speaking of which, 100W bulbs are freely available here...yet another case of the UK following an EU directive to the letter?

  4. Cloud mate i dont know obama personally and didnt appreciate he was born in america...I frequent an american forum and there going bloody hooplala over this....I didnt do any searches i simply copy and pasted there argument onto this board to see what you fella's thought....

Well, you've certainly adopted some of their ways....

  5. Both teams should be binned from the competition IMO.

I agree, and West Ham should play their next few cup games behind closed doors to boot. The pitch invasions are just inexcusable, especially as they happened twice!

Five Live are hinting that the policing and stewarding wasn't up to scratch too.

Why didn't the ref abandon the game though?

  6. Thanks for that....I did put rumour in the topic title as i was finding it difficult to actually believe..I knew the folks on this board would soon put light onto it....Also as i stated on the board i read it on any message/postinfo that has >on every line i find laughable...

    Thanks again

Reading too much of those David Icke forums again?

The fact that Obama was born in Honolulu combined with even a slight knowledge of US citizenship laws (anyone born on the soil is automatically a citizen) should've told you that it's complete rubbish.

  7. I think I'm as confused as Ross about this issue that people seem to have.

    Can someone please explain?

Call yourself a music promoter and yet you don't know who Del is? Pah!

Adam's bang on the money. Del's supported (and booked) Luke a fair few times if I'm right, and it wouldn't have been a huge shock if mistakes in animation came along for the tour too :)

(Del's also a thoroughly decent bloke and comes highly recommended if he ever wants to gig up here...)

  8. He'll easy get more than 220 for a 60gb PS3 on ebay as long as it's in good condition, despite of the price drop on the later models (which don't have SACD playback, card readers, 4 USB sockets and PS2 games playback).

Why on earth did Sony cripple the later models so badly? Fair enough, they did it with the PS2 as well, but you'd tink they would've learnt from their lesson?

  9. At least he actually looked like he was working for the full 100m unlike the heats and the Olympic games.

He still wasn't giving 100%, he lost a couple of hundredths by looking left and right and lost some more by not dipping for the line - if you saw the photo at the finish, he was still upright when crossing the line. To think that he could take another tenth of a second off if/when he gets better with his starts is just intimidating.

Scary to think that he's only 22 and could break 9.5.

Tyson Gay threw his dummy out as well after the race.
