  1. Mr Cynic, u were @ NN9, GS & Future PIlot, which was part of Triptych The Mute night was a brave attempt @ doing something innovative @ the LT, ie an upstairs downstairs leftfield night, however for me it just didn't gel, Wire & Pan Sonic were fine, but just too throbby at times, Pink Grease were a joke, Liars were influenced by too much Birhday Party but were okay, Irmin Schmidt not playing live was poor, T Raumschmiere being ill was a miss. the much maligned Komputer (window tinkles aside) were okay & Tim Wright's set which most people missed was excellent. 5/10 Trans Am just wonderful, where was everybody? 9.5/10 Tigerbeat 6 Night 1st two acts okay, main two urghhhh too late for this old chap, Kid 606 drill & bass far-too intense. Dav'e Kung Fu arm dancing was a delight. 3/10 NN9, GS & Future Pilot FP shambolic, disjointed & full of loveliness, GS lots of variety, NN9 three or 4 songs of genuine class, not enough meshy trademark guitars, set too short 6/10 Space is the Place turned up @ 5 delay for 1.5hours, directors cut not available, went home a big dissapointment 0/10 Moog night shambolic but likeable old people 5/10 triptych this year 5/10 ps Paragon Ensemble tonight will be special, be there...

    Trans AM

Trans Am were magnificent & by far my favourite live artist in Triptych.
  3. band details Purto Muerto Fucked-up alt.country, which cuts Kurt Weill with Tom Waits and the Handsome Family, mixing mazurkas with sea shanties, polskas with noir-ish, cinematic sweeps and Spanish folk with post punky fury as it goes. Marvelous, mad and mordacious stuff. See them live a totally fantastic experience. Desc Formerly known as Khaya, who recorded three albums records and recorded two sessions for John Peel. Out of theses ashes, Desc have formed & are inspired by many things but to put their songs into context they have been said to sound like an acoustic Sonic Youth or Ennio Morricone on speed.
  4. doors 8pm, lots of very interesting people playing with all 3 artists???? the music mafia are in town
  5. according to my playlist then yes. ru working atil then?
  6. Seminal Scottish band coming from the ashes of the best scottish indie band of all time THE FIRE ENGINES, play drummonds tonight with the immensely talented Future Pilot aka (we he have his band with members of B&S as usual) & Gareth Sager (PoP Group) Be there

  15. Full artist details:- all have websites to check further, just use google Kasule Are from Albion Rovers country & are Interesting Music's most favourite NEW find, Their sound is diverse, melodic & challenging & fits the mood. To generalise their sound can be best related to Joy Division big chords; Ulrich Schnauss Slowdive, Elbow guitars; slow-faster-harder-louder type Spaceman 3, Mogwai; however this is only reference points to their unique sound. Their 1st LP Demonstaration, contains many moments of utter sublimeness. Kasule also wrote the soundtrack for an award winning film Black Coffee, which was voted most popular feature film @ The Australian AUSFEST 2002. Kasule's 2nd LP called VHOR is out in May & they will feature quite a few tracks from it as well as some of our old favs. This is kasule's 1st visit to Aberdeen & we hope it isn't their last...... Frog Pocket Is a rising star on the Benbecula & Planet Mu labels. His live shows are a fantastic spectical as witnessed at last years Unknown Pleasures, where he literally wiped the floor. He is a man who looks like he should be fronting some lo-fi guitar band playing a mixture of insane gabba and folk reels. The best thing is that the Chris Morris rave works incredibly well with the live sound of Frog Pocket's violin. Even at his most extreme he still allows the listener to make out traditional folk melodies beneath the scree. If there was ever to be a Noughties remake of 'Restless Natives', Frog pocket would be the man to record the soundtrack. He often swings wildly from the ridiculous and berserk to the sublimely beautiful in the space of one song, The man is accessible & challenging, he will be 100% dynamite at Drakes. Chevron Hails from Blackpool & is a recent Plant Mu signing & his "in your face" live shows are earning him a great reputation. Here is a review of his last single; "Devastating goodness from Lancashires Chevron on the Mu, Swimming Lessons on the A-side unleashes chopped-up stuttering chords and IDM templates offset by a harrowing dubcore echo of reflectve vocalising pressured deep into a squashed beat mix. Killer. I Remember on the flip taps into the hardcore juice awesome destroyed production and metallic twists lock into oldskool vibes reduced into something altogether new. Mighty mighty stuff". His 1st LP is out later this year & is keenly awaited. Electric Tibet Are one of Aberdeen's most innovative four piece bands; influences range from Eric Satie to Sonic Youth & lots in between. Their live shows can be full-on in your face wallofsound, or a very much improvised slow sets with lots of space, like the magnificent show they performed with & supporting The Microphones last year. Tonight they will be....................... "To comfort the afflicted & afflict the comfortable" Their clothes are faded but their souls are black - Electric Tibet InterestingMusic hope u enjoy this show, we all will, tell your pals......
  16. hey dave did u know that the paragon ensemble are playing john adams shaker loops & gavin bryers jesus blood never failed me yet. theis is at the LT on Monday 3rd May 04. hehehe ps paragons contemporary interpretation is astonishing. The LT should be full to see this, but it wont be
  17. this is very true, however we saw Cat Power at her absolute best at the LT last year, but she was totally OTT at the very next date she played on that tour, lying on the stage & talking jibberish for half an hour etc etc. Mr LP was obviously very nervous & he seriously overplayed audience participation. He said afterward that last night was the most difficult date he's ever played, mainly due to that table of utter twats who should have been mouth muzzled to bring them into line with the majority, who make Drakes gigs iv'e been to always special. We live & learn. ps ZC & JE lovely stuff & the new harp song is excellent.
  18. thats what happens when u support a duff team thats lost two of its last three games shock horror martin o'neil gets the sack...hehe
  19. by his own admission as well, depends which way you say the the anti, ante or aunty...................... i suggest anybody tries WMFU playlist the Irene Trudel show. Here you will find Kitchen Cynics almost permanently on the play list, even more so than his esteemed & mightly paid peers. They have some superb downloads of live sets including Kitchen Cynics, Espers, the mighty Low etc etc
  20. I hope you are wearing a sugical mask (abit like Clinic) on thursday night. Kitchen Cynics was in very fine form & his in between banter was excellent. 67 were charming & david's visuals were ace. Black Forest Black Sea were very improvised, very strange in places & astonishingly good. I applaud all those that really listened intently. A very good night
