  1. Doors 7pm Starts7pm = Big problem with everyonre trying to get in at the same time explain = clarify
  2. congrat ulations sounds like a very interesting evening's entertainment were in
  3. Aye that's a lot of top quality artists, probebly the best ever LT line up. Pity Unknown Pleasures veterans Komputer keep getting missed from detail?????
  4. I agree diversity is great, however I draw the line at going to things that are musically bangkrupt & genarally put on to "balance the books" far too often. I suppose we cant have Mute nights very often, got to keep the faithful mean & keen. Went to see Yo la Tengo & Gorky's a couple of weeks ago @ The Usher Hall must have been the quietest gig i have ever attended. The central belt has pigged-out on variety for too long & got complacent with choice. All I ask for is better quality music that challenges the public in Aberdeen.
  5. interesting music the same people who have put on Ballboy, Soulo, Schneider TM, Christ, Twine, Craig B (acoustic) Kathryn Sawer (twice), Monica Queen & local musicworthy supports. Tomorrow (WED) at Drummonds we have Thomas Truax (NY anti folk visualist) Desc (formerly Khaya) & local legend Kitchen Cynics. This is well advertised in record shops & elsewhere on the Aberdeen Music website. Look out for our newsletter featuring forthcoming events which feature artists in the electronic, improv, genuinely strange & sometimes genuinely straight music fields. ie music that is interesting, challenging & we'd pay to hear ourselves
  6. aye tribute to nothing, how can the LT go from putting on the best night in its history ie the Mute night on thursday 28th April 2004 down to a darkness tribute band. i'm exasperated by the inconsistency.
  7. .......booking we are chuffed to accomodate, especially having caught Desc as a manic two piece in lava a couple of years ago. Thomas Truax live shows are a combination of spectacular visual & musical virtuoso. To start our evenings entertainment Kitchen Cynics the ledgendary figure &permanent fixture on WMFU playlist will delight those who care to listen. Wednesday 24th March 2004 Drummonds Belmont Street Doors 8pm fee 5 Desc members dan, john and pete had been playing together for five years as members of KHAYA. They recorded three albums for sl records and recorded two sessions for John Peel. They gained a reputation as "sonic alchemists with pop magic" dancing from their fingertips" (NME). desc released their first album 'up here in the heat' on sl records in march 2002 to critical bewilderment. 'up here in the heat' was intended to be minimal and dark, a skeleton. they spent a year carefully removing all nnecessary parts, leaving the raw wires exposed. After the release of 'up here in the heat' they played tours in holland and the uk. They recorded four songs for an exhibition of photographic works by helena macgilp and also the soundtrack for a short film, 'Heel' by b-list productions, to be shown at the edinburgh film festival. desc are inspired by many things but to put their songs into context they have been said to sound like an "acoustic sonic youth or ennio morricone on speed". their new cd is called "4 songs by desc" and is a limited edition ep, released on the 26th may on sl records desc are : dan mutch - guitar/vocals helena macgilp - violin/vocals john mackie - bass pete harvey - cello alun thomas - drums/percusion/vocals check out www.bowloffrogs.co.uk Thomas Truax Thomas Truax (pronounced troo-aks) is a New York City based anti folk singer/songwriter and multi-media artist who performs with mechanical sound sculptures like his Cadillac Beatspinner Wheel and instruments which he builds himself out of found objects and spare parts (such as the Hornicator), as well as with more standard gear like guitars and toy piano. He is an illegitimate son of Screamin' Jay Hawkins and a mad scientist of experimental music with a history as a stop-motion animator. His carefully crafted songs range from dark, romantic lullabies to lively rock melodramas. His 'Wowtown News' radio show airs on Resonance FM in London. a scary website for your amusement.......... www.thomastruax.com Kitchen Cynics Local musician, prolific writer of amusement, combining ancient folk roots with lo-fi psychedelic aesthetic, that effectively blurs the line between Syd Barrett & Pearls Before Swine. Look out for the Interesting Music news-sheet at this gig, for forthcoming eclectica.... Next date for your diary Friday 2nd April .....
  8. excellent, worth the long wait. superb news about LW3 & SV playing LT will your bookings integrate into the national booking agencies ie wayahead etc?
  9. Interesting Music present for your delectation:- Dr Drakes Friday 2nd April 04 Doors 8pm fee 5 Probably Aberdeen's finest live band, supported by two of sl records up & coming starlets, trying to knock Ballboy off their pedestal.

Interesting Music tried to get Alan Sparhawk's other band to Drakes Aberdeen on this their 1st european tour but the furthest north they are coming is Glasgow (sleazies i think, then over to Eire). A band not for the faint hearted or squeamish my new house Away ps Alun Low are god's band on this planet
  13. were you inthe "jungle" another woeful performance by the wrong side of townl Aye last night twas pretty excellent Deadloss were exceedingly funny tween coughing bouts, cigs etc & the man in the wooly hat can sing a bit..... Kathryn was just fantastic.... as always Craig B was simply the business, proving that behind the wall of sound that he can sing a bit & hold the attention all in all i think the balance was really really good cheers to all who turned up & LISTENED More excellence from Interesting Music coming very soon
  14. We are shooting down to Edinburgh to see them on Wednesday night @ The Usher Hall. Missed them last July, but with the wonderful Gorky's will make up for it. YLT are on the UP hitlist, but we missed out this time?

  18. i'm not lifting in the sofa as well as Kathryn's bloody heavy piano. i have limits to promotional activities.......
  19. Kathryn is playing this Sunday night I'm sorry to say that some of the juvenile comments about the Kathryn Sawers should be ingnored. This probably comes from the same people who go to gigs and talk all the way through them & can't possibly judge. "Her music beautifully complemented the darker side of The Delgados" quote Emma Pollok. Kathryn Sawers is a remakable talent, her music ain't easy, but challenges the listener, beware her stare............. Come & see this outstanding line up @ Dr Drakes this Sunday night & make your own mind up, u won't be disappointed Craig B of Aereogramme solo & acoustic for the 1st time in Aberdeen Kathryn Sawers solo & piano Deadloss Superstar acoustic & settee Doors 8pm
  20. i think its all those bloody cigs u smoke thats causing that.
