For those on Abdn Music who support the cause, please read on as the time to get involved is upon you....... Dear all, Thank you all for all your support this year on Peacock's plans for a new arts centre in Union Terrace Gardens. We are having a Campaign get together on Wednesday night (16th) at 6pm at Peacock. Really hope you can make it! Sorry once more for the short notice however, the public consultation will be officially launched on the 11th January and since this will roll around very quickly we wanted to get people together before the Christmas break up. There's lots of things to do going forward and we would really appreciate your support. Hope you can join us for this pre-Christmas get-together. In the meantime please take a look at the below. It's about the public consultation. It would be great if you could take two minutes to help with this. Please do pass on to anyone you think might be interested. Thanks as ever for your support. Together we can do this! Elly Dear all, PEACOCK - CONSIDER IT! It has just been confirmed that Peacock's scheme for a new arts centre in Union Terrace Gardens will NOT be included in the Public Consultation on the future of the Gardens (to be launched on Jan 11th). As you can imagine we are very disappointed as we wanted to be part of a fair, open and inclusive process of consultation. We believe that the people of Aberdeen have the right to make sure the consultation process on their public space is as unbiased and open minded as possible. The consultation has been commissioned by ACSEF (Aberdeen City and Shire Economic Future) who are championing Sir Ian's civic square plans. It is being paid for with public money but will only be consulting on Sir Ian's scheme to concrete over the gardens at the cost of around 70 million to the public purse. We believe that the public MUST get the chance to be informed, express their opinions or indeed show their support for other options for Union Terrace Gardens and that therefore the consultation should include Peacock's proposals. Peacock's project has full planning permission, is fully costed and has secured 75% funding. It was ready to break ground this year with doors opening to the public in 2011. Over 1million of public money has been spent to date on its development. If you feel the remit of the consultation should also include Peacock's scheme you can help by getting in touch with the following influential people: Council Leader John Stewart: jdstewart@aberdeencity.gov.uk ACC Chief Executive Sue Bruce: suebruce@aberdeencity.gov.uk Scottish Enterprise Chief Executive Maggie McGinlay: margaret.mcginlay@scotent.co.uk and your own Councillor who you can find at WriteToThem - Email or fax your Councillor, MP, MEP, MSP or Welsh, NI, London Assembly Member for free Thanks in advance to our friends and fellow supporters. We have until January 11th to make this happen and have the Council and Scottish Enterprise widen the remit of the public consultation. Good Luck!

Sorry meant to post this yesterday, this is what the EE saisd about Bo Ningen Japenese Four-Piece push the boundaries. One of the hottest new bands on the London music scene are heading to the North East. Japanese experimental noise four piece Bo Ningen have been hailed as the most exciting live act in years. Guitarist Taigen said" When we first formed we would jam for 12hours every day. There was no real structure to those sessions, we would just make noise & see where the music took us. Bo Ningen moved to London Four years ago & release a limited edition ep Koroshitai Kimmochilater this month. LIVE they are a cacophonous clash between experimentalism od Ash Ra Temple & the abrasive edge of fellow Japanese bands like Les Rallizes Denudes & Boredoms (who they were heavily infulenced by in their early informative years) Unprdictable & loud Bo Ningen LIVE are UNFORGETTABLE. Taigasn said "For anyone coming to the show who has not heard our music before I would say Bo Ningen define our music as PSYCHEDLIC. To be a psychedlic band it is not just about playingsongs that sound like they are from the 1960's or rehashing a Krautrock sound. Psychedlic should be about pushing the bounderies, taking the music to areas it has never been b4. That is what Bo Ningen are about which is why our shows are so WILD.
