  1. Utter bullshit through and through - it's a shame that APA are pulling exactly the same nonsense that the old Lemon Tree management used to pull.

I could understand them knocking you back based on the interview - but to reject you on the basis of not having relevant experience? What utter crap, and more to the point - their loss. You would think that an "assistant programmer" would be expected to have their finger on the pulse of the local community, but obviously not!

I recall that you were successful in getting funding from ACC in the past for music related projects - which anyone sane would see as a huge positive.

Probably, and sadly, they simply didn't want anyone who was capable of shaking things up a little and away from mediocrity.

Awe shuks Cloud. I'm warming to you ;) And yup, a number of successful funding apps across music and art. No matter, I have moved on and reckon the job is a bit of a poisoned chalice. Which genuinely had me a little wary but thought what the hell... Not that I need have worried eh..

  2. No way, man. When I applied a few years back, I think they took one look at the fact that I had put on DIY shows, realised my motives weren't about generating a profit, and classed me under: "Not A Fucking Chance".

hahaha I woulda preferred a letter like that really. and jeez it took them long enough to tell me.

Much better than the generic kick in the fud that I got. Although I realise that sincere intent is limited at APA so no biggy now that I have calmed the fuck down! I am tired of this towns almost tangible lack of ambition, not the folks though, just an over arching sense that motives are driven by a misguided ambition!

I hope the Warehouse, The Tunnels, The Moorings and Drummonds keep the in their place!

  3. Ouch. I didn't even get an interview for this.

Apparently there are more people out there with "relevant experience that would enhance [the] organisation"...

Go figure. Good luck to whoever gets the job, I mean that. But seriously, not even a fucking interview?!

    Fuck off!

  4. Ach well, I just had visions of Bass Drums moving all over the shop, y'know drummers with their rugs and carpets to stop sliding things, I just multiplied that hassle by the scene in the Likely Lads film where they have a caravan.

I admit I'm jaundiced on the business side of things, from reading the countless litanies of ripped off musicians, and my particular antipathy to administrators wasn't helped by Aberdeen Uni moving the History of Art department out of Powis Gate to make way for administrators ie disrupting the actual business of the institution for the aggrandizement/comfort of those who only support the functionality. That this happened after I graduated is small consolation, that department was glorious, and such internal sabotage is insupportable-2nd Rant Out

Loving the rants! This is the kinda stuff I miss on here :)

  5. Cant remember the makes I have. I use two different kinds. Not at the same time though :)

Clear moulded ones and also a more traditional looking plug with a ridged body. Both offer different uses but I find my drumming is better with them in as I tend to not hit so hard in order to hear myself over the din of bass and guitar. Flattens out the volumes.

  6. He also seems a bit 'slower on the uptake' than Miss Pond......maybe she's not all that she seems???

(Perhaps an intergalactic hit-woman hired by the daleks to gain his confidence before knifing him in both hearts.........which would make her a Glaswegian!).

I too was thinking, 'hmm this Doc ain't the quickest eh' One could think Miss Pond was the doctor if you hadnt seen it before...

  7. I still maintain it was in the chandelier for some unknown reason. It dropped straight down in my eyeline. Seriously.

I never really understood why someone would think our table randomly decided to break a glass on the floor when we had been quietly enjoying the music, the barman got my back up a fair bit. If we had been generally rowdy or something fair enough.

Jan just looks like trouble. Being so intimidating a presence and all.

I was all for having you all binned out the back door and beaten senseless. ;)

  8. Saw this on a poster in Tunnels on Sunday night but haven't seen it listed on here as yet - caught this band by chance supporting The Low Lows a couple of years back in Drummonds, great band.

If you like western tinged, instrumental music such as Dirty Three, Ennio Morricone, Calexico and the Twin Peaks soundtracks then you will probably love them....

    Highly recommended!

Seconded! Great band and great entertainment. The support act Jeff Healey is/was the Low Lows Drummer. Stanley on the bill as well so a great night to be had!
