There's an article on the STV website here:
Aberdeen music festival cancelled due to 'poor' ticket sales | Aberdeen City News | STV Local
It seems that once again Aberdeen has been offered something truly great - something innovative and fun and a massive coup for the city - but the dour North East attitude got in the way. Again. It happens far too often up here: change seems to be met with a Granite-set determination to keep things they way they were.
I really feel for the organisers - you've done a spectacular job, and you should be commended for all the hard work (and money) you've put into this.
P.S. According to the STV site it was Faithless who were supposed to be the mystery guests.
The population up here is nowhere near the size and spread of the central belt and nor does it have the transport infrastructure to get people easily around the northeast, the catchment area. Silly statement. Nothing apathetic about people watching their money, going other festivals and generally being a lot more shrewd these days. Yes we have our share of nae sayers up here but that has nothing to do with this. Many contributing factors unfortunately. Disappointing news for all involved and looking forward to it.

Not good at all!

Oh and we are ace!
-
After a rather enjoyable gig on the 20th we are now looking forward to the 27th where we will do the same again with a little less faffing with a mic.
-
We have some new tunes specially!
-
Tupelo Town Assembly are hoping to showcase an exciting new development on the 27th. More news as it happens!
-
Noone's having a go at the band's credibility are they?
Some folk didn't enjoy the gig. Not much more to read into it than that I reckon.
There is a tone I'd say. That said I'm not terribly fussed.
-
You guys at a diferrent gig? I was down not far from the front and plenty of folks loving the gig. New songs from any band can flatten a gig. James was touching his chest, blowing kisses to the crowd throughout the gig and the couple of singalong moments were quite touching. I'm not a signed up fan but they seem to be the new band it is cool to not like.
Maybe the subject matter of the songs is creative thing from what he has seen around him. Imagine
that eh, being creative in a band. I could write songs based on the amount of people that went to my school that are now dead for a number of reasons that would for some colourful prose.
I probably won't coz that isn't cool, it seems.

I quite enjoyed the gig. James looks uncomfortable at times posturing as a front man but other than that...

Tupelo Back in action at the Moorings. Yip!!

Don't let the inmates take over the asylum. Music fans buy all the tickets, no neds. Besides, neds shop at sports direct so I doubt 90 Is in their budget

Hey, Jim, don't get me wrong....I've nothing against any of the acts thats on, if its what you like ?.....but most are just not my cup of tea (saying that, I would like to see Madness, but even they are not worth paying that much for me!)......
..... and I would never presume to be skilled & organized enough to be able to "put on my own festival next year"..... so really, your sarcasm was lost on me...sorry !
Posting that you musical taste isn't catered for in this festival is akin to saying you don't like eggs. Not really any point. Anyhow, I'm nae picking a fight just thought it was an odd post
-
Very good news.... for some people !..... and I do commend all the hard work that this must have entailed....well done !..... a great thing for Aberdeen music lovers !
Having said that.... there is not much there that I would be willing to pay so much money on !
(does not really feed my musical tastes...shame ! )
I guess it isn't for you then. Maybe you can put on your own festival next year.

The Ticketmaster link has 90 + 9 booking fee. I was kinda meaning that if it is as much as that then giving the extra to OneUp would be better than Ticketmaster.
I am actually amazed by this whole thing. Really good work from everyone involved. I mean Kelis... in Seaton Park, who'd have thought that?!
Yeah buy the tickets locally.
-
Ah. Thought he might be a bit like that. Still, better than the last time then...
A carbon copy apart from the shit punters

In what way?...
He sa hard watch at times. I think his nerves transfer over to the audience and he is always on the verge of cracking completely on stage. That doesn't take away from the fact then when is hitting it it's goosebump stuff. Ziggy and me bailed for a catch up when he started playing the opening segment of his set again at the hour plus mark

Mr Lomond was tremendous. The pij was exhausting. And the turn out was amazing and extremely well behaved. Loving the Lamp as a venue theses days.
-
This definitely looks interesting. 90 is good value, but it'll be another 15 probably in fees + postage from Ticketmaster. That's the frustrating part.
So I guess for those who can, buying from OneUp (I presume they'll be selling them) would be the best idea.
Knowing how the guys behind this feel about booking fees I doubt there will additional charges on top of face value other than postage.
It's looking well good and extremely chuffed for them. The turn around from idea to announcing is remarkable.

All very true but... how do you rate his Mum?
Nae too shabby like
-
Good luck to him and hope he does well.
-
Fair play to the lad.
He will be looking back in a few years at some of the larking about videos and cringing much as most of were when we clicked play.
-
Jim is looking forward to TMG

Anyone with an interest in music, art, film etc will enjoy this night and its cheaper to get in than many a pint. We have done this so that extra drinkage can be undertaken to ensure that fun times are allowed.
8-early am so come chill and have a change of pace from a thumping beat orientated club.
Worth a look for the younguns coming through
