  1. Will you be publishing this directory once complete?

All info will be available when ready. Probably feed up into the web portal :)

Primary objective is looking at what is out there and how is accessed by young music folks if at all. The kick on is we end up with a handy, as you say, directory... Win!

  2. Hi readers...

    Info sought

I am starting in on the first stage of research into music recording facilities across City and 'shire. Initially collating info on what is out there across the priviate and public sectors. If you own, run or simply know of a studio then fire me wee email at smpnortheast@gmail.com or message me on here.

    I'll be following up direct.

Cheers for any info and pointers.

    Jim

  3. Note to all promoters, studios etc: feel free to get some posters, business cards to me. There will be table/stalls for placing things. Equally if you want to hang around and chat that to is good. Be great if we can see the extent of what goes on in and around Aberdeen. It's surprisingly more vibrant than one thinks. As I am finding once again.

  4. Who is playing I hear you ask>>> Andrew Brand kicks off the night with some fine acoustic songwriting. There may or may not be a gap after Andrew to fill. This gap, or not, is followed by The Brothers Reid and their fun filled entertaining music sensibilities. The day is then finished off in fine style by le massive Taco And The Sharpies and their internationally flavoured soul, funk, hip hop sensibilities. Cracking gig and only £3 unless you have been along to the earlier activities at Aberdeen College and the Lemon Tree and therefore free.

Did I also mention that Murray and Jordan of Excerts fame are being flown in from the 'sarf' as special guests on the Q&A from 6pm in the Lemon Tree Studio? Free? Yip!

  5. The evenings Q&A will focus on all aspects of touring and gigging outside of your home town. Please note that the special guests for this event ar Murray and Jordan from the Exerts. This is a free event

    The panel will be

    Jamie Gilmour

Hit The Road Project Manager, Artist Manager (We Were Promised Jetpacks / Over The Wall)

    Murray McLeod

    Vocalist and Guitarist for Xcerts

    Jordan Smith

    Bass player for Xcerts

    Jen Hunter

    Musicians Union Scotland

    Steven Milne

The Little Kicks, promoter, Lemon Tree music Programer

More info and registering at smpnortheast@gmail.com

  6. Battlefield 3 on the Xbox isn't much fun at all. Dicking about in the vehicles is good, but pretty much everything else sucks. The matchmaking especially.

Agreed. Its actually rather awful and infuriating so now added to my 'not played anymore pile'. Completed the really short campaign. Was dealing with stuff but tried MW3 today and boy does that hit the spot... Yes more of the same but a real pretty game and the maps are very nice. Will enjoy it until all the geeks get their geek on and it becomes very annoying. Oh and quick scopers are dicks!

We are in the process of finalising the those that will be participating in the delivery of the day and contacting directly but there will be those we miss. Knowing the sage bodies that frequent this site a post was needed as a shout out for all the hidden gems and fountains of knowledge that live and work across the region. If you think that the objectives list below is in someway an area of expertise then contact us on the email address at the bottom of this post.

The aims of the event are:

    • Show and explain process involved in writing, producing, recording and performing music.

    • Provide insight into venue and promoter expectations.

    • Demonstrate the wide-ranging career options within the music industry.

    • Provide advise on self promotion, marketing and professionalism.

    • Explain process involved in self releasing

    • Explain royalties and methods of income generation.

    • Promote professionals and facilities available in the north east

    • Promote new and existing networks.

An equally important part of the day will be promoting the music facilities and services, available across Aberdeen city and Aberdeenshire so again contact us with any queries and for further info at smpnortheast@gmail.com

    This is a free event!

    Cheers

    Jim
