  2. I dunno why everyone is getting upset. I see where the guy was coming from. At least the guy knows what he wants - a good idea of image and philosphy before he starts. To be honest it's what you need to get ahead, and if you can back it up with good tunes and lyrics, then you're gonna go far.

If I was in Aberdeen and sans band, I'd go for this.

  3. I like politics to be related to things I like.

    Eddie Spaghetti says:

"That's right, it's down to the nitty gritty. I know that many of you

think that my emails should consist strictly of "liquor, women, drugs

and killing, rock-n-roll, outlaw country and the occasional joke or two

and to you, I apologize. Feel free to bury your head in the sand once

more and delete this missive now because I am here to use my (very

nominal) influence to tell our fans to please get out and vote for a

    change this Tuesday.

To my republican friends (and I hope you are still my friends if you've

made it this far into my email) I have this rock-n-roll analogy for

    you:

Let's say that the Republican Party is Van Halen and (for the sake of

argument we will time travel quite a bit) Abraham Lincoln is the David

Lee Roth of Republicans. An ass kicking, slave freeing,

minimize-the-government-in-our-lives bad ass. The glory years. Then

let's say that Sammy Hagar is the Ronald Regan character, he totally

lost the die-hard but for some reason Van Halen had never been more

popular. Hit after hit. The Van Halen machine makes more money than

anyone thought possible! Next, sadly, it's time to enter that guy from

Extreme, Gary Cherone. Here is our G.W. Bush. Even the most

dyed-in-the-wool Van Halen fans have to admit, this was one bad idea,

it didn't work and, thankfully we only had to put up with one record

from this version of the Republican Par..., uh, I mean... Van Halen.

Gary made Van Halen so bad that Sammy Hagar returning actually seems to

    be a GOOD idea!

So there you go, even Republicans have to admit that G.W. has totally

"Gary Cheroned" this Presidency, don't you think? I thought this would

help clear things up for you. Now get out there and buy one of those

"Republicans For Kerry" stickers and help us make this change. Sure

Kerry's no Diamond Dave either, but who is anymore? It's not like Van

Halen's gonna ask ME to sing for 'em...

  4. try picking up a second hand flextone II. wipes the loor with those spiders, which if the truth be know, suck donkey balls.

You may not have developed a good ear for tone yet, so just trust me on this one!

  5. Me and chris from the band went down to the Bannermans gig in Edinburgh a few days ago.

    Boy did it suck!

There had been very little promotion done for the gig, and as a result, me and chris made up the majority of the paying customers.

    No Radio Lucifer either.....

So we saw Aceface who were, to be honest, dreadful. They kind of sounded like Deep Blue Something without any tunes. I actually wondered why the hell they were over here wasting money instead of staying back in Canada and getting better. I almost felt sorry for them.... They reminded me of one of the shit bands we get stuck on bills with in crap pubs in Greenock, and wonder "why the fuck would you put us on with such turgid bilge water?"

Neil Leyton was playing with Aceface as his backing band plus some other guitarist. it wasn't a good mix. Neil is pretty good, but the band were like a lead balloon dragging him down. I dunno who the guitarist was but I have never seen such lifeless and uninspired playing in a long time. Technically, he was playing the parts, but Craig's official verdict was: "suck". Big Neil needs to get his old band back playing with him, they were much better.

The atmosphere didn't help (not that there was any), but my finely tuned bullshit detector was pinging for Aceface.

Hopefully it'll be better up north for you heathens.

  6. Weird? Why? Most of those who become vegetarian/vegan' date=' do so not because they hold with some bizarre belief system, but because they disagree with the cruel practices involved in the rearing and slaughter of animals for food.

Oh, and I guess you never tried their vegan cheesecake. Its reputation extends far and beyond.[/quote']

Ahh, but Chris is a veggie since birth - I find that weird.

I do understand why people become vegetarian. I personally think it is a dumb idea, but hey, whatever turns you on!

Alas, I didn't try their cheescake. I generally try not to eat foods that don't have any meat in them, as I feel that I was placed on this earth to correct the cosmic imbalance created by their being too many pinko liberal veggies around.

    They call me: "The Equaliser"

  7. good place, worth playing. We've played a number of times.

The food is fucking awful. But I absolutely hate vegetarian food, so never ate there out of principle. I had the misfortune of being so hungry that I tried one of their bean burgers. sludgy crap.

Vegetarianism is just weird to me. However, I ate 3 different animals in one meal yesterday - a chicken, a sheep, and a pig had to die for my dinner - so I'll call it quits with the veggies. I'm making up for them!

My views however, do no represent the views of deadenstereo - Chris the bass player has been veggie from birth. Now that's weird!

  8. Playing a Jap Tokai Les Paul standard, which compares favourably to a number of Gibsons I've played. Only problem is the really small strap buttons off of which my all-stretched-out strap falls off all the time. Kind of ruins a AAA quilted maple top when it has yellow gaffer tape over it to hold on the strap.

Previous guitars were an 80s Yamaha SG (which I really fucked up the tuning heads on), and a sparkly pink Charvel telecaster with a reversed pointy headstock. Both were good guitars, but the tokai is a step above (and also worth 3x as much) I don't think that the tokai is (objectivley) worth 3 times as much as the others, but that's what you gotta pay (or con your insurance company into paying if you're smart)

  9. Just downloaded and watched this on the reccomendation of a Canadian friend of mine.

It's a movie that half mixes Spinal Tap with Wayne's World and sort of Candian redneck moshers. Incredibly funny. I think it is coming out to the cinema soon, but is on dvd in ths states so is downloadable.

    check it out peeps.

  10. I've got a date with a pretty hot chick to go see the Edinburgh gig.

I bought the first Sugarcult album by mistake in Santa Barbara, California a few years ago, before it came out over here. I was listening to the cd in a music shop, and thought it was cool, so bought it. However the cd I bought wasn't the same as the one I was listening to.

I'd been listening to Thursday's Full Collapse album, but they'd put the demo cd of that in the sugarcult slot on their headphone thing. So I burned a copy of sugarcult, took it back and got the Thursday album.

My friend was at uni there, and said that Sugarcult used to play all the house parties along Del Playa drive which is where the frat houses are. Supposedly that's where Incubus started playing as well.

  11. Here are some MP3s from our last gig in Edinburgh. Recorded using an SM58 mic and a minidisc recorder.

Trust the Tale (Not the Teller) - This is gonna be the title track from our next EP, as is pretty much our best live song at the moment.

Smooth Stones - Named in homage to Kyuss, this is our set opener. It's quite long (6MB) as it has an extended intro.

The solo at the end is when I get a bit "Slash" on yo ass. The bass was broke for the whole song too.

Axis of Evil - Our set closer. Sounds a lot heavier than the recorded version

Comments, are always welcome, although I will say we were under-rehearsed and the playing was a bit sloppy....

  12. we (deadenstereo) probably sold 90 or so of our last split single with Stigma. Mostly at gigs, although rumours abound that one was bought in OneUP.

We had about 150 pressed up, and probably sent the rest away, lost them, broke them or gave them to chicks to try and get them to let us touch them in nice places.

But, we don't consider ourselves very succesful at selling cds.

  13. big difference between a spider and a flextone III.

Maybe you should look into getting a cheap small tube amp, like a Peavey Classic 30. I've heard very good things about them, and saw a blues guy using one - it sounded real nice. Supposedly you can do some heavy rock tones with them too.

A marshall 201 or 401 is another option, they're good in the house amps and can cut it at gigs.

  14. I played a duoverb, was thinking of picking one up. They are pretty nice. I liked the SLO setting, and the Vox AC30 ones.

One of the guys from The Cherykicks was using one when we played Mosholu with them, sounded immense out front.

check the clearance section on www.pmtonline.co.uk They have one for 300 or something.
