  1. Atari 5200, NES, SNES, N64, PS2, in that order. Curiously, that's also the order in which I owned them... Diminishing returns?
  2. Are these tracks you've ripped from CD, or tracks you've downloaded? I have a few tracks which have "hiccups", but these are ripped from CDs with supposed "copy protection".
  3. Got one of those for the new Mac OSX "Time Machine" backup feature. Works so well I got a second just for storing films/photos/music.
  4. The service must have had a kick up the arse since I last used it, if they keep sending you lot to the hospital... 2 years ago I went to see them because I'd had a hellishly sore head all weekend and my nose was pouring blood (and great big, thick clots too!). The student doctor who seen me said I just had a really bad migraine and an irritation in my nose. They gave me some tablets for my nose, told me to take some ibuprofen, and sent me on my way. Within half an hour of leaving their building I had collapsed from a brain hemorrhage. On speaking to the neurologist who looked at me when I did get to hospital, he was shocked they hadn't referred me as I'd had all the symptoms a particularly nasty strain of meningitis.
  5. Make Magazine is a good source to get started - makezine.com: MAKE: Technology on Your Time
  6. Ok, replace Orange Box with Portal. Still stands as one of the GotY Didn't know that - I thought it was early 07. I concede the point. I left myself open to that, didn't I? Ah well, each to their own I suppose
  7. I thought the RRoD was caused (mostly) by overheating in the first place? Either way, deliberately overheating it can't be good for the console in the long run...
  8. Are you on crack? Smooth Moves was utter tosh. Top 5 from the games beside me: 1. The Orange Box 2. Gears of War 3. Assassin's Creed 4. SKATE 5. World of Warcraft (not from 2007, but it's the game I've played most all year)
  9. Nah, go AAC. It's noticabely better than MP3 IM(H)O. Some of the Other AAC-Supporting Portable Players: * Creative Zen Portable * Microsoft Zune * SanDisk Sansa e200R * Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) with firmware 2.0 or greater * Sony Walkman S Oh, and most likely your phone'll play AAC too.
  10. Ethernet over Power Adapters are another option (the 200MBps kind - look for Homeplug HD, I think). I had my Xbox 360 connected to them, before I sold it, and they worked really well.
  11. AAC = Advanced Audio Coding. Not Apple Audio Codec, like most people assume. All Apple did for AAC was popularise it. Wikipedia sez:
  12. Gears of War for a quick, satisfying, single-player thrill.
  13. Assassin's Creed is pretty much the only game I've been playing since I got my PS3. In fact, it was probably one of the reasons I got the console in the first place. That, and MGS4 & DMC4 Memory Block 4 here - I've been trying to collect the flags/kill the Templars, etc, as I go along. I've killed a lot of Templars, but my flag count is reasonably low Yes, it is a very pretty game to look at, and though the plot is damn easy to work out (i.e. the "secret" behind why you are killing the targets), it's a fun game none the less. leaping from rooftop to rooftop to knife a guard in the back has never been so much fun! Can't say I've had any frame-rate problems. The odd annoying camera angle, but it's nowhere near as bad as the Tomb Raider games, so I'll let it slide Funnily enough, no! Throw them into trees/walls/merchant carts. It's a lot funnier and sometimes provokes a (violent) reaction.
  14. I got socks, jumpers, pyjamas and slippers. Like Chris I also got a chest infection so I've been laid low these last few days.
  15. But then the building would be blurred and you'd lose 90% of the photo's impact.
  16. Oh, and in response to the original question: Siagon on Crown Terrace is pretty damn good. We had our office Christmas "do" there on Friday and it was lovely.
  17. I was thinking that might be the case...
  18. The idea with UMD was Sony were going to use the PSP to kick-start sales of it, then start selling more devices which support it. At one time the PS3 was supposed to havw both Blu-Ray and UMD drives. Unfortunately for them, UMD-Video sales have been a shambolic disaster at best so it's never taken off. People are just copying video files to Memory Sticks instead. By the time Sony gets the PS3 released over here, and there's enough films available to buy (at a semi decent price), HD DVD equipment will have been out for ages and will have started to corner the market. The Xbox 360's HD DVD drive's already out over here, isn't it? Sonys on to another loser, methinks.
  19. I bought a PSP, but now only use it for watching downloaded TV shows on the way to work. There's bugger all decent games for it, and TBH the graphics aren't up to much on the small screen.
  20. Snap. I got so sick of dealing with Windows virii and malware for family members that I either installed linux on their PC or strong-armed them into getting a Mac. Thankfully my helpdesk calls have dropped somewhat since...
  21. The usual stuff: adenoids + tonsils as a kid A&E for sprains, etc (mostly happening when pished as a fart at The Palace) More serious: Emergency following a stroke + follow-on subarachnoid hemorrhage A&E a few more times, for hurting myself during epileptic seizures
  22. Me and the family are off to my Mum and Dads for Christmas dinner for the first time in years. After that it's a case of sitting on my arse doing fuck all until the 3rd. New Year is probably my least favourite time of year, so I try and avoid doing anything if I can. It doesn't help the Missus having a large family who insist on the whole first-footing thing. I'm not even allowed to get smashed anymore (not even a single drop!) to make the whole shebang pass quicker...
  23. fanny farmer pole monkey "FeSTR are gash"
  24. Nah, just making a fleeting drive-through (or is it a drive-by?) Aye, 2 weeks tomorrow until the big day. You coming to the evening do?
  25. if you want to download the album, but still pay for it (so you get that warm, fuzzy feeling of being honest), you can get it at http://www.karmadownload.com/. They've got My Minds Weapon as well, should that float your boat.
