  1. agreed. the films that come free with newspapers are usually good for that. The Carry On films that were free with some newspaper (the sun?) a while ago were really good. Some of them just went straight to the film and when they did have a menu it was just a simple menu.
  2. Courts are for justice, it's not justice if you "make an example" of someone. People should be sentenced based on the facts of their case, not to send a message to other people. That said, I think 45 days isn't enough, should be longer.
  3. Well there are a few possible reasons I assume: 1) They think it looks nice 2) They enjoy it physically (including spiritual reasons) 3) Cultural/Historical reasons 4) They think it makes them "cool" It could be any one or a combination of these. The same reasons people do everything. I'm no expert or anything though. I'm just some n00b.

So I decided to read Hard Times by Charles Dickens first. I just finished it. It was awesome. Perhaps I shouldn't have stayed up until half past three in the morning to finish it...but meh. Next: Search for the Dice Man *prepares to be disappointed*

    Your current read?

Just finished Jon Courtenay Grimwood's Arabesk trilogy. Very cool post-cyberpunk stuff. Today I bought: Hard Times by Charles Dickens Moby Dick by Herman Melville The Search for the Dice Man by Luke Rhinehart and a book about The Fall (the band, not the book) I dont know what to read first. yaaay.
  10. People can distribute things which can potentially be used for illegal activities as long as they have a legal use. eg: You are allowed to buy a knife to cut up food. You are not allowed to stab people in the face. I hardly think ASDA would be able to release and distribute knives with a "stab in face" function if it was illegal to do that. oh wait, they can and do.
  11. got a link to this streaming freeness?
  12. I prefer the LED throwies because they are so easy to make. They did a good talk at HOPE number 6: HOPE Number Six (It's just after half way down the page.)
  13. Maiden Flight RANGERS are getting some special help on their way to Israel from rock legend Bruce Dickinson. The lead singer of heavy metal superstars Iron Maiden is flying the official team charter from Glasgow to Tel Aviv! Bruce Dickinson, Iron MaidenDickinson is a fully qualified pilot and regularly flies aircraft for charter firm Astraeus, the company who are flying Rangers to Tel Aviv on a 757. He specifically ASKED to fly the Ibrox men to the Israeli capital when he learned that Astraeus had landed the contract. Dickinson, who has sold millions of records worldwide with Iron Maiden, paid to learn to become a pilot and has passed all of his commercial pilot's licences exams. Rangers manager Walter Smith is a keen hard rock fan and was introduced to Iron Maiden by former Gers skipper Terry Butcher, who is a massive fan., when he joined the club back in 1986. Smith said: "I know their stuff quite well! I remember going to meet the band when they played in Edinburgh a few years ago. "I would never have thought that Bruce would be flying our plane." Maiden have been metal heavyweights for over two decades spawning hits like Run to the Hills, Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter and The Number of the Beast.

    Your current read?

I read 'Notes from Underground' last week and am reading 'The Double' at the moment. (both by Dostoyevksy.) still reading the bible, someone needs to edit the hell out this thing. get rid of all the chapters which are just people begetting each other and replace that shit with a bigass family tree. I also got the collected works of William Carlos Williams (pt 2...dont have pt 1 yet though) and also got 'Alice in Wonderland'/'Through the looking glass' when i bought the Dostoyevsky stuff last week.
  15. which one of them has their heart in the right place? the one using his faith as an excuse to treat other people like shit or the one using his faith as an excuse to treat other people like shit?

  20. let's begin: He's God, He can create the anything in the anything. Just because YOU couldn't do it, doesnt mean he can't. He can do anything, that's why he's God. Thats the point. Many people at the time worshipped the sun and moon as gods because they brought night and day (and therefor the things they represented to the culture: birth, death, rebirth. There is a huge amount of depth to go into on that subject.). The idea here is to make sure that people don't think that the sun and the moon are gods by disassociating them from day and night. He is the alpha and the omega, he is everything. he could have made them in the image of a pandaroo and they'd still be in his image since he is everything and nothing. And if that doesn't float your boat, there are many other interpretations available of what is meant by "made in his image" aswell, perhaps it doesn't mean physically at all, perhaps it means that we are meant to be beings of peace and love, like the G man. see my earlier posts for possible explanations for this. To be honest you haven't really tried to add anything at all to the thread with that post, you have just come in and attacked religion because for some reason you dislike it. Maybe instead of attacking religion you should spend some time trying to figuire out why feel the need to try and destroy something that brings other people happiness.
