Tubelord – Night Of Pencils Lots of different sounds here. Sorta At the drive in mixed with Rival Schools. Can't deny the early Biffy influences either. Well poppy in parts. Rival Schools – Pedals When Pedals came out I wasn't a huge fan of the album at all. Nowadays it's never out of the C.D player. Full of tunes. Not as good as United by Fate but then again not a lot is. Lush – Scar I bloody love shoegaze and one band that do it very well are Lush. Scarlet is my favourite track on this E.P (?) as the name suggests its LUSH! Lots of delay, verb and jangle guitars. Lovely stuff! My Bloody Valentine – Loveless I realised this morning I pre-ordered the long awaited remaster of this four years ago to the day! Mental. The Brian Jonestown Massacre – Bravery Repetition & Noise Lovely stuff from the BJM. Anton took the 60's approach to this album. Reverb, 3 to 4 chords, bendy solos and lots of tone. Stand outs include Open Heart Surgery and You have been disconnected.

Agree with all of the above... Meursault were great, but should have played for longer. 10pm finish just seemed a little bit of an anti-climax. I prefer Wounded Knee when he does the looping stuff - didn't really enjoy his set. You can tell he's been working with Alasdair Roberts... Woodend Barn is a great venue and I'm really looking forward to more Deliverance nights! Nice one Dave!

We've launched a crowdfunding project to help us put together an album of new music to celebrate 20 years since the first play was rehearsed at the Woodend Barn. The holes in the roof and walls and lack of a proper floor did nothing to dissuade the players and audience, and since then Woodend Barn has transformed into a thriving rural arts centre at the heart of our community in Banchory, attracting audiences from across Scotland and artists from around the world. We’re really quite proud of what’s been achieved here in those 20 years: the premieres, the big names and the small names that became big names, the fun, the laughter and the shared creativity in all its forms. We thought it would be great to celebrate this anniversary by asking Jonny Hardie (Old Blind Dogs), the musical director of that original production, to bring together a group, nay, a super-group of musicians who have all played at the Barn and create a cd of new music to be launched at a special concert in September 2012. Jonny has invited Orcadians Douglas Montgomery and Brian Cromarty (Saltfishforty, The Chair), Brian McAlpine (Session A9), Mary Macmaster (The Poozies) and Davy Cattanach (Old Blind Dogs, Pictones, Catford) to join him together as The Woodend Barnstormers on this unique music project, using the stories, myths and legends of the north east of Scotland as their inspiration. For this we are counting on your support. We need to raise £14,000 to cover the cost of artists’ development, rehearsal and studio time, recording fees plus manufacture, marketing and pressing of the cd. From simply pre-ordering the cd to pledging for an afternoon at the recording studio with Jonny and the boys, or for the champagne & canapé pre-launch reception with a premium seat at the launch concert, there are a variety of ways in which you can become an important part of the project. Have a look at www.ampmaker.com if you fancy making an amp. I made the PP-36 last year but should have made one of the lower powered ones. It's foolishly loud and has no master volume so you can't really get any form of gain without breaking your ears. The lower powered ones come with pretty good instructions - you can actually see them online before buying. The kit itself is very good. If you make it and it doesn't work, you can phone/email the guy and he'll tell you what to test and source the problem. Definitely recommended. Pete
