Assert

I would just like to clear up a few of the points made; there certainly was no one with us from 'mid afternoon' as there was no 'mid afternoon' !!! we drove 7 hours straight to that gig so the afternoon had long since gone! so this is nonesense!!!!! i only remember a very drunk person who ripped off his shirt during a short soundcheck and grabbed the mic and seemed to totally enjoy himself. NO ONE was with us! I don't practice what i say to sound 'super intelligent' and i don't say the same thing 'every night' if you see us 'every night' then you would know that! NO WAY did we criticise any support bands, that is just not our style and never has been. After that gig at old Drakes we stayed with Jeeves and he came to see us a few months ago in Kircaldy! as for 'berating' the audience, some people find my interaction with the crowd very funny, others find it offensive, thats why we are all different!!! its all about entertainment or provoking a reaction, a lot of what is said is very much tongue in cheek. The comments from Andrew G, i find very sad; at no time have i asked 'every U.K. drummer' to play for Assert, i asked you to play on the Exploited tour ( 15 months ago ) and you were apparantly 'thinking about it' i hadto ask 'twice' to get a reply, even then you were not not man enough to give a straight answer!! the inference here from Andrew is that no one wanted to drum for us because i am ' a bit too much for everyone' how come i auditioned 3 drummers , turned them down and still get asked by drummers if they can play for us!!! how many people have you asked to play in your band and how many have left? pot calling the kettle black here Andy? so your the man who turned down Assert , big deal!!! We don't use a drummer because WE DONT WANT ONE!

can of worms eh?

not to keep going on about this but in my defense after making the comments i made i wouldnt mind clearing this up as well.

myself and my bandmate met you guys outside the pub when you arrived in aberdeen , but in hindsight it was about 5ish, so sorry bout that.we did spend the rest of the evening with you , right up to the bands going on.cant be arsed having a tit for tat on a public forum about stuff thats long gone but if you want to pm me i'll happily explain my version of events.

Was an enjoyable gig..

I liked state of affairs they were a pretty decent melodic hardcore band, great drummer too.

Assert i wasnt too shure about.. i liked the sound of their music but it just didnt seem live. This was probibly due to the drum machine and lack of volume.. otherwise a tight set and very energetic.

State Of Affairs are always better than I remember them - was particularly amused by "play another song" "we haven't got any..." "well play one of them again then!" :p

Assert were amazing - well worth the time I've spent waiting for them. Britt is an excellent vocalist and a tight and energetic set from the lot of them. Loving the interlude bits between songs as well to provide gaps for the drum machine - most original. Britt shook everyone's hand and thanked us for coming a lot as well thus dispelling my worries that he'd be all grumpy as per some previous posts. Top guy, ace band and a pleasing gig overall :)
