Spoonie
What is D-beat?
Soda Jerk
D-beat is the Kick-Snare-Kick-Kick-Snare beat used in some hardcore punk, with the double kick slightly jarred. It's known as D-beat, as it was popularised (but not created) by the band Discharge.Funnily enough, a huge amount of D-beat bands rarely even use the actual D-beat anymore, but still get pigeonholed as such.Genuinely one of the stupidest genres ever. Spoonie
I see! So this band will write lots of songs, all with the same beat?
The Milner
I had no idea you called that a D-beat, maybe this site still has its uses!
Wednesday13
I see! So this band will write lots of songs, all with the same beat?No theres a variety of D-beats a drummer can employ. Youtube D-beats check out the vids.
Soda Jerk
They are all very similar, with a similar tempo. Which is why alot of D-beat is mostly generic. Which is no bad thing. I love loads of bands who consider themselves to be D-beat, but it's about as cookie-cutter as it gets.
The Milner
i just cant get over that guy in the video.....
Jaaakkkeee
I'm serious, Dubya won't let me act like an arse but i'm sure I can go pretty mental and basically not play a set because i'm too punk if you let me in your band. I can't pay for practice though.
Malice
we are influenced by probably the same bands you enjoy that consider themselves D-beat and obviously that reflects in what music we want to play but we do like to take some influences from crust punk, grind and anarcho punk bands to mix it up abit in the music we are playing in this band also when did nepoleon dynamite become a drummer? Soda Jerk
Yeah, sorry, I wasn't implying your band were generic, just explaining what D-Beat is... Obviously from your influences, you're aiming to do a bit more than just D-Beat. Great bands in there. I'd be well into it if I played bass, but I'm a guitarer.

threeornothing
I've never heard of D-Beat being used as a genre..used to call it DIS bands... usually because the bands would have DIS in their name (DISKONTO, DISCARD, DISGRACE, DISGUST, DISHCLOTH etc.)Gegen De Dis Bands Jah... I want to play bass in a band but not sure on the commitment front...any mp3's to hear?
