Guest allsystemsfail
Here is a little info on the planned social centre, taken from a recent leaflet: The Autonomous Social Centre: What it is, what it involves...We are a group of students and locals who would like to renovate a disused building to be used as an autonomous social centre. This is with a view to increasing local involvement in self-organised social activities. It will be a shell that offers different groups, collectives and individuals to organise events such as concerts, debates, conferences, discussions, infoshops, exhibitions, theatres, film screenings, soup-kitchens, communal meals, work-shops and many more with different aims such as for example raising money, charity, mutual share of knowledge, skills and informations, support local sub-cultures and artists or just to offer people the possibility to come together and have a good time.We hope to encourage a broad section of Aberdeens population to participate in activities and dialogue about a full range of concerns and issues affecting their lives, from environmental to personal to political, charitable or social. It will hopefully act as a catalyst for local voices to come forward with ideas for reclaiming back our lives from the cosumerist reality. Finally, we would wish to promote the cultural and artistic talent of Aberdeen. It could proof a beneficial institution for local artists, young and old, giving them the opportunity to come together, share there skills and offering them a space for exhibitions or performances. Furthermore, different charities, societies, collectives, co-operatives and other non-profit and non-party groups could organise social and informative activities opportunities in such a centre. The organisation will be non-partisan, non-profit making and organised by volunteers. Prices will be ideally free (that means everybody pays what he/she can or want) or at least reasonable.Last but not least, the Autonomous Social Centre will be part of a wider critique of the dominant capitalist and highly commercialised culture. It aims to support and strengthen the critique of realities such as social exclusion, pollution, exploitation, consumerism and alienation and to work on solutions to these problems. In the same time, it offers the possibility to organise in an alternative way and can therefore be seen as a kind of window to another world. As such we would like to abolish the seller-customer relationship. In the Autonomous Social Centre there wont be any specialist or proffesional that provide services, all people involved will contribute and learn in the same time without reproducing the capitalist reality. To make the Autonomous Social Centre as enjoyable as possible for everyone, we will reject oppressive behaviour such as sexism, racism, ageism, homophobia, specicism and other behaviours of discrimination and domination.A collective of individuals takes all the important decisions in relation to the Autonomous Social Centre. This collective is organised in a completely non-hierarchical manner and takes all the decisions in general assemblies, ideally by consensus. Everyone is free to come to these general assemblies (we call them simply meetings) at anyone moment and to disappear when he/she pleases. For more information, contact usASCA@mutualaid.org

Alan Cynic
"Combregating" is ok...it's a group- grooming thing, and is very pleasurable (unless your pals have nits).Sounds like it'll be a great night tonight, and if I can get over being totally knackered I might 'head' down.
