Dizzy Storm
BLACK SUNno need for much of an introduction, as those who know, know! but for those that dont.....Glasgow's Black Sun started out life 10 years ago using loops and samples which slowly transposed into the monolithic beast of crushing Doom we hear today. With 4 albums and an EP under their belts which also saw them working with acclaimed producers James Plotkin and Billy Anderson in 2007 on Hour of The Wolf, 2008 has turned out to be an exciting year for the trio with appearances at Heavyfest IV, Supersonic 08, the Unsound Halloween event in NYC, and the unleashing of their 5th album Paralyser on At War With False NoiseMySpace.com - Black Sun - Glasgow, Scotland - Crunk / Other / Metal - www.myspace.com/legionofblacksunFuture Noise v3.0 - Gigs and PR for Metal, Doom, Drone, Sludge, Stoner, Grind and Noise - Volume Over ProfitTHE SONTARAN EXPERIMENTNamed after the legendary Dr Who episode from the 1975, this band has been created to push music to its limits. Crushing doom, blastbeats, harsh electronics/vocals and a beautiful prog feel combine to push boundaries a little further in extremity. Noise artist Stuntcock (Paul Cattan) had been looking for some extreme musicians to accompany his electronic racket, calling on his old cohort Seddon, and two travelling Sontarans, Rooster and Si. After hours of jamming, songs have been structured, all at approx 15-20 mins but as all great symphonies, divided into movements. With a love for the riff and the slow, They Are Cowards do what comes naturally; what happens, happens and the music reflects this. Teabags
This gig was indeed great.Didn't really expect much of stuntcock, but was pleasantly suprised.Noma, Black Sun and They Are Cowards were also terrific.
Guest Jake Wifebeater
That was an all-round top gig, props to Sharon for putting it on. They Are Cowards were ok, but it seemed like they couldn't decide whether they were a trad metal or stoner metal band and weren't really either in the end. Black Sun crushed, and Muggins here spent far too much at the distro stall as usual.Quote of the night courtesy of Barnoff Bin Laden during Noma:"I'm awa' ootside for a fag, hinna heard anything like this since the Lhanbryde Cat Murderer was on the loose"All in all, a resounding and triumphant
