dorkusmalorkus
hello. quick question; i was gonna upload an M.I.A. cover i have done on my artist page on myspace but myspace have all those mad warnings about copyright infringement etc which put me off.from my point of view it's just an inane, amiable faff-about but could it get me in trouble or am i being a guipe? i did put a bit of work into it in the end and would like some folk to hear it but.....? has anyone else put a cover on their page and had a problem or not?cheers folks. RF Scott
I'd be VERY surprised if M.I.A.s label had a problem with you putting it up. Go for it, it's not like you're passing the song off as your own, anyhow, or uploading the original recording.
Guest idol_wild
I'd go for it.What's the worst they can do? Sue you? Steal your entire livlihood as a result? It's worth it.What is your artist page anyway? I'd like to hear it.
Tooms
i think it'd be very unlikely to cause any troubles dude. honestly.and if you put "cover of .." or "not original material..>" or something like that on it (which will be obvious anyway) then i'd say that the worst that could happen IF (and a big if) they found it and didn't like it would be to ask you to take it down.especially as you're not making any money off it? jon
A mate and I did a drunken Wildhearts tribute (MySpace.com - The Mildhearts - Edinburgh, UK - Rock - www.myspace.com/themildhearts) and I emailled Ginger just before we uploaded the songs. It's nice to ask, but I reckon it's probably a little tougher to get through to M.I.A.
Jim Stax
No commercial reason for the track is there? If not it shouldn't cause to many questions, if any...
