pogofish
Just been reading about this elsewhere. You would think they might realise that the ferocity of their reaction only serves to confirm that there is something they want to keep hidden? Bigsby
Really helps that they're throwing away cash left right and centre.... but they need to make 50m worth of cuts... hrmmmm. Obviously letting local schools and facilities suffer is alright... as long as Trump and every other ropey developer is happy. PLUS we have local council workers threatening to strike. What genius is in charge of all this and why the hell are they still there? They may all be fair and valid points, but you're getting your councils mixed up, the cuts etc are the city council, Trump and this councillor are Aberdeenshire. You would think they might realise that the ferocity of their reaction only serves to confirm that there is something they want to keep hidden?Even speaking as a supporter of the development, if there is *any* hint of land being given to Trump, then heads need to roll. I'm all for a championship course (the term used loosely, as anyone that's studied golf course design will understand) being built - but not if it's subsidised to the tune of 5 million. The big question, at least to me - what else is being hushed up about this?
pogofish
Yes, if Trump had been slated to pay anything approaching a market value for the land, then there would have been little left to argue over & the paucity of evidence given about certain aspects of the scheme at the enquiry suggests that there may well be more things they do not want out in the open. Agree about the "championship" aspect as well - There is simply no way that can be decided straight off the drawing board.
Pierre Von Mondragon
I thought Trump believed in the Free Market, without evil socialist subsidies. No I didn't, these fuckers always get a sweetener. The Free Market is as illusory as the Trickle Down theory and all the other fallacious concepts peddled by economists*.*Economics; the greedy fake science with no basis in reality that its alright to hate. It would certainly explain why the Trump organisation were talking about NE Scotland (and then Northern Ireland ) so much. Angus or Fife councils wouldn't have entertained them if they were asking for subsidies, at least. The anti-Trump camp made a lot of noise about how he couldn't afford it - and it has to be said, it's starting to look like it's coming true.I think the money now has to be on the development not happening. Pierre Von Mondragon
Easy, tiger. Not all economists blindly believe in the world-healing power of the free market.Just the important ones that run the worldwide financial system. As an anecdote, I work in a large academic library, and the economics students are the worst for stashing books away, its the greedy impulse that demands that others must fail for them to succeed, and that any action that leads to success is justifiable, within the confines of their brains.Cunts.
