Plato the Greek
An entertaining read to be sure. A new Needles E.P in June? Good news for all who value truth, virtue and rock n roll. Also, it's heartening to see that Dave Dixon hasn't let the huge eclipsing success of his brother's band get him down too much.
framheim
did anyone else read the bit about the needles in the scum(sun)? very entertaining.

framheim
twas a web of lies. but very entertaining ones. dave said that johnny had taken a skateboard onstage and a horrific accident had ensued which left his foot hanging off by a bit of skin. Why would his brother's success get him down? Who's his bro anyhow?
Plato the Greek
I was making an ironic-type comment. Legend has it his brother is lead singer in King Liar and the Brutes although I'm not sure. Anyway, Dave Dixon is a megalomaniac and wants to rule the world alone. He will not let mere family ties get in the way of murdering rivals to his crown.
cow tipper
Robbie Williams is Dave's brother.*awaits Sun article to confirm this*

Guest tv tanned
Metro newspaper (free at Newcastle station) labelled The Needles a 'Glasgow band'.And we wonder why few Aberdeen bands break out.Cunts think the world stops at the Central Belt... Its strange cos I was told over a year ago that an album was forthcoming...
garygilmore
The Needles have been playing a lot of gigs recently...I thought they had an EP released last month? The Needles, like Joesphine, are being picked up through the "Glasgow" thing....Hope they end up like F Ferdinand who became an "over night success" after about 10 years in various different bands! cow tipper
They did have an EP released last month. And they've been recording an album.Er...http://www.drownedinsound.com/articles/9461.html
rondon
Did anyone see the review of there single in Rocksound, they got an excellent 8 out of 10. I was chuffed, I've never seen them, but it was cool to see an Aberdeen band name in a fairly large magazine.
Guest Scott 5FD
is their any previous Needles releases that are worth picking up?i've never seen or heard them, just read good things so i'd like to check them out.
Afro Droid
All of them, The Needles easily piss over 99% of Aberdeen bands.
Guest Tam o' Shantie
any of them? though a few are out of print, like the one that i really want cos it has 'in her arms again' on it!
Guest Bob
It's fucked up, but one of the guys in my Dad's band is the Dad of the Drummer in the Needles. Oh yeah, and another one is the Dad of the ex-drummer of Solinus, but that's not quite as cool.
Comptroller
I fucking love the Needles. The tragedy is that they have so much good material that has never been released and will never be played again, like 'Story of the Needles' and 'Tell Me You Love Me'. Though word is that the next EP will contain 'Panic On Easy Street', which will make the world a better place.

You're thinking of 'Ballad of The Needles', not "Story". It certainly pre-empted Bill Ely and The Catnips' use of "shut up shut up" in a song. The catch was this: it wasn't even a ballad. They are playing a live session on Vic Galloway's show on Radio Scotland this coming Monday. And don't forget they're playing Drummonds with Andre (fucking!) Williams Sunday 2nd May. I don't think that it's quite sunk in that the man who originally wrote and recorded songs like Bacon Fat and Jailbait in the 50s is actually playing Drummonds in 2004. This is a significant thing to me."Made little Richard seem like Pat Boone" indeed.
Plato the Greek
Andre Williams sounds intriguing and tough. Whilst I am excited about the prospect of seeing him, I just wish that The Needles were supporting a spoken word evening with Andre the Giant. I still miss him sorely.
