Hope no one minds me plugging this on here, but I have a new radio play airing on the BBC this week. It's set in my native Cullen in 1969... cue plenty of period music!

Some details are here:

Anyone listening in, I do hope you enjoy it.

I won't be able to catch it live but will certainly tune in via Listen Again online facility. And another photo and write-up in yesterday's P&J - can't be bad. A' the best

No, although you're looking all deep and meaningful or merely pissed off in it, has to be said! I'll scan it tomorrow and mail you a copy for yer scrapbook.

I've just done a short story set in Buckpool. Awesome place. I've not dared walk through it since I grew my hair long.

Any conversation about the Buckie area should mention The Anchor Bar at some point' date=' Morayshire's least likely brothel...[/quote']

it was quite a place, to say the least. never drank there though - Harbour, Saints and Star were my locals over the years.

would be interested to read that short story.

did you go to Buckie High? I was trying to suss out if I, or my mates, knew you but it generally drew a blank.

PM me your email fella and I'll send you the story.

No, didn't go to Buckie High, I had the misfortune of moving down south for most of my childhood hence the mixed up accent and the lack of a decent education...

The pubs in Buckie generally are death traps, I tend to stick to Cullen these days for fear of being accused of being English...

address duly sent.....

aye, the pubs back home are usually less than inviting - despite going back there every month or two, I tend to avoid them most of the time. There's somehing depressing bumping into the same people still doing the same jobs over a decade later.

I drove through there too :D I'd forgotten just how weird all those little places were.

Do they still have the yearly 'fun'-fair outside of Buckie? I went there one year for some bizzare reason :\
