Official Statement - 21/11/2005

Idlewild would like to announce that after eight years and four albums they have parted company with their label Parlophone/EMI.

The band had fulfilled their record contract and it seemed like a good time to move on.

More news regarding a new label and a new record will follow. Here's to the future!

Having read Roddy's online diary, I'm a little concerned that he appears to be completely ruling out the sort of musical direction that produced "Warnings/Promises", whatever you care to describe it as. It's a bit silly really that he is keeping the folk stuff exclusively under his own name; Idlewild as an exclusively "rock" band is not a bad thing (because they do rock better than most bands), but it still seems something of a "backward" step....
