Chris
if their guitars are anything to go by then the yamahas are likely to be a superior quality to the squiers (although I've heard they're improving).
Knight of Swords
Squier will have to improve a long way to catch up with Yamaha.
TR!ΔNGL€ T€€TH
Personally I prefer Squier basses to Yamahas... I bought a chinese fender p bass about 5 years ago for 100 and it was far better than a Yamaha bass my school bought for about 300.But these things really are a personal preference, it's true before you buy methinks. Jammer
I started on an Artist Precision copy - heavy duty cheap thing. Followed with a Westone Thunder 1A, Tokia Jazz (which I did not like), Hohner B2A (black/white body - which I loved but the guitarist hated the look of), an Aria Pro 2 Intergra and then my final purchase an Ibanez SGR 800A which is ace. Spoonie
i started on a legend precision copy, then moved onto a japanese precision and since then i've just added to the collection with a stingray, warwick, us precision and japanese jazz special and i think the japanese fenders are the best of the lot. not too expensive either which is a bonus.i had a fodic jazz copy for a while too but i did it up and sold it on. /x
Knight of Swords
I've played a Japanese Precision and it was a very good instrument for the money. It was better than the American Jazzes I've tried.
Jammer
I've never had a Fender, probably due to money reasons initially, but I never really liked the ones I tried either. I like my Ibanez...thinish, rosewood fretboard and comfy.
Snowdog
I bought a Yamaha RBX 775 last year, really nice, comfortable bass to play! Got it mail order from a company in Newcastle called Sounds Live. Tried everywhere for prices and these guys were the cheapest, saved around 100 compared to buying one locally! http://www.soundslive.co.uk/default.aspCame in within 7 days if i remember correctly.
