Guest DustyDeviada
Talking of shit films' date=' have you seen The Acid House? [/quote']Thought the Acid House was OK actually - probably because I wasn't expecting much from it so was pleasantly surprised. Exact opposite from Trainspotting which had been completely hyped up by everyone in the media at the time of release.
Queen Kong
I loved the book of Trainspotting and the movie. Wasn't so keen on the movie of the Acid House, although the book was good. I remember reading Filth a while ago but don't remember anything about it. Just finished reading Porno which was excellent. I'm not reading the Marabou Stork Nightmares, but as I tend to only read on holiday, I suspect it will take me a while!
JJ 10 Easy Wishes
nah nah it is a novel. it has a central story line which eventually ends when Renton runs off to Amsterdam. The book is also pretty much about him, as his chapters focus on his story as a while whereas the other characters just get little bits about them. I can't be arsed explaining but I'll tell you what my tutor says about my answer when I get it. The poetry questions are alllllll shite
Marillionboy
I never said it wasn't a novel! Its form is of a series of stories whihc aren't all threaded together by one character's story, but that doesn't mean it ain't a novel. the_beastly_one
Yeah' date=' but if she's only mentioned in a small section of it, it would mean searching the book pretty thoroughly.[/quote']I'm re-reading this at the moment: Nina appears near the beginning of the book, around the first 4 or 5 chapters. She's Renton's teenage cousin, and her chapter concerns the funeral of her Great Uncle, when she mistakingly thinks the body is alive, but it's because of the electric blanket, haha. I think she does appear later on though too, at Billy's funeral. On the subject of Irvine Welsh, they're all great reads, but Marabou Stork Nightmares does it for me moreso than the others- it has a more interesting insight to the human condition, and it's a little more abstract, or maybe it's just the way I seen it........... Marillionboy
That's a great sequence: she thinks the body may still be alive because its sweating soesn't she? Bit of a definitive moment for Welsh.

It has some great moments for that, like the one involving the shit in the bed sheets, etc.
Marillionboy
The bedsheets scene is pretty good in the film as Ewan Bremner plays it so well, his reactionn when he wakes up and realises he's not in his bed is priceless.
sebi
Nina is renton's cousin who he tries to chat up if I am not mistaken. It has a central story line which has ended when Renton run away to Amsterdam. The book is amazing and made me to think a lot . I know there is also a movie but unfortunately they made it worser that I have expected. I used to write the essay which is connected with this book but my vocabulary list and correct grammar sentences are not pretty acceptable, so I just simply used the site https://www.essayskills.com/ where I bought the essay and get the good mark of my subject. I still have to improve myself to write quality essays without any help but at that moment it was inevitabity. Wish you good luck. Hope you would write it in a perfect way.
