  1. Hi Alkaline. I'm sort of hoping I may be able to help you out here as I use a lot of hardware alongside VSTi's. A JV-1080 is on my wants list (as are a JP8080 & JV-2080 along with many other rack synths I want to add to my setup, ha ha ha). I'm just going by the brief outline of your equipment detailed above, other people may have other ways of working which may be better, but this is how I'd use it in your setup. At the most basic, you should be able to integrate it into your current system via a MIDI to USB adapter, using Logic to control it (unless you have an external audio interface which has MIDI ins/outs, then you should be able to patch it in to that instead). Chances are (from the setup described in your post above) you'd sequence/control it from Logic via MIDI and then record the output from your JV into the line inputs on your audio interface/lappy back into logic as audio (I don't know whether you have an external soundcard/audio interface/mixer/desk or what not as it wasn't mentioned above so am assuming that you don't). I wouldn' worry too much about the size of the keyboard/MIDI Controller your using, after all, once the MIDI data is in logic, you can do heaps more with it, unless of course you want to play it live, then a 4 octave or more controller keyboard would be ideal. Feel free to hit me up and we can hang out/have a look/get it working. Have a gander at my profile for details of my own kitlist.
  2. 100% operational again... Happy days

  3. It's totally cool dude, not a problem at all, didn't take long to sort out. I'm seriously impressed with how it interacts with Pro Tools, Cubase and controls (certain) VSTi's.
  4. I'm happy to say I also have a JP8000 now too, also from someone on here! It's awesome, swapped it for my unused 16/8/2 soundcraft spirit studio desk about a month ago... The internal battery needed replacing ('battery low' & 'memory damaged' messages on startup), but now that's sorted (including a factory reset/recalibrate the pitch bend/mod wheel/ribbon controller), it's like brand new.
  5. Damn, I can't seem to delete my stupidity from here, ha ha ha. What I meant was that I understand how difficult they are to fly and how much skill is required.
  6. I work right next to Dyce airport, have done for 6 years now, right under the flightpath (outside in a pipeyard), and all I see is Bristow heli's coming and going, by comparison I see very few Bond flights. That would definately put me off if it were my first trip offshore too. Thankfully no one was hurt. I fly model helicopters so understand how these machines operate, the skill of the pilot to bring the bird down safely on water is immense.
  7. I have to ask who is maintaining these helicopters? You don't see Bristow on the news...
  8. Just sharing my main haunts although probably not to everyones musical tastes. WEBSITE: http://www.distortedscience.com/ SOUNDCLOUD: http://soundcloud.com/distortedscience ITUNES (free podcasts): http://itunes.apple.com/podcast/distorted-science/id271446953
  9. You indeed have some very nice toys at your disposal, some of those synths made me sex wee Serious old school analogue business. I'm guessing you'd control the synths via MIDI (where applicable) recording them into the DAW as a mono/stereo WAV file for further editing/manipulation/sculpting? I'd love to get pretty much any Virus TI (for the VSTi style DAW integration - though I've read it's still a bit sketchy at times) and a proper JP8000 (I bought Adam Szabo's 'JP6K' VSTi for now). That circuit bent VSS200 looks to be heaps of fun (googled images of the original item), who modified it for you or did you purchase it already done? Do you use the VSS a lot? How do you find it to work with in a musical context? I have a Yamaha PSS-30 (practically a kids toy) and an old Korg DDD5 which are both seldom used, getting them modded may revitalise them somewhat. It's a Virus Rack, essentially just a rack mountable version of the Virus B: http://www.vintagesynth.com/misc/virusb.php
  10. 11. There doesnt seem to be much of a scene here for that kind of thing anymore, just the odd night here & there. I moved up 7 years ago just as it seemed to be stopping, sigh, oh well... Bet that was immense... Just glad I'm not your neighbour, ha ha ha.
  12. I also have a heap of old skool goodness from 1992 onwards. 1999-2001 ish was my excursion away from Hardcore/Drum & Bass into Hard House/Trance, oh, and UK Garage (Gay-Rage), ha ha ha. Probably a good note to mention, I'm originally from just outside London.
  13. I'm personally more inclined towards electronic music, European Hardcore/Gabber, Drum & Bass. Occasionally I dabble in Rock/Pop when artists seek my help with their works, Oh and mastering for various labels, plenty of that going on.
  14. It's my sanctuary from the 'Real World', ha ha ha. I had to post the pics up, I see so many folk with guitars, bass, drums etc etc. Had to redress the balance.
  15. Aye, it sure is. All housed in wee tiny 1 bedroomed flat in Rosemount. Sadly, I'm not rich enough to be able to house it elsewhere, and as I privately rent, can't really do much in the way of acoustic treatment either (for those that spotted the lack of any). One day though, maybe.... hopefully, ha ha ha ha.
  16. Just thought I'd show some pics of my setup. 32/8/2 Soundcraft Ghost LE, connected to the PC via 2x M-Audio Delta 1010LT's. Dell Inspiron 530 PC (quite old now) Intel Core Duo 2.20GHz, 2GB RAM, XP Pro, Pro Tools M-Powered 8.0.5 Various bits of outboard... The DJ'ing corner...
