I'm looking for something loud, with a solid top, that's easy to play and stays in tune. Nothing too expensive, as I expect to be playing it in the pub a lot..... A Godin, Epiphone, or similar maybe?
As good a drummer and as sought-after a sound man that he was, Kev will be missed more for his personality. Always positive, gracious and supportive of other musicians, he was one of life's participants- never an onlooker. I wish I'd known him better and longer- one of those rare guys with no detractors at all. How many of us can say the same?
Can I also recommend "Tears for souvenirs" by Ken Dodd, "Distant Drums", by JR and the ever-popular "Please release me" by Englebert? Give your friends a laugh and horrify your relatives at the same time.......8-)
My mother loved Jim Reeves, Ken Dodd and Englebert Humperdinck- ballads, basically. Can't forget the words to some of those songs, no matter how I try. I once played a thrash punk version of Reeves' "I love you because" at a party and it went down a storm:-)
