  1. Hi, what are your influences and do you have any material written?

    Don't like to speak for the other lads, but my influences come from anything ranging from acousticy happiness (John Butler Trio, City & Colour) through to heavier kinda metalcorey Stuff (As I Lay Dying, Unearth) taking a trip through drum n bass/dancey stuff on the way (Daft Punk, Prodigy). This band is looking to be more on the As I Lay dying side of things. Kinda metalcore/hardcore with a bit of bleepery added in for good measure.

  2. Ello all and merry christmas tomorrow =)

    Basically, heres the story. I'm a student in aberdeen but live in edinburgh off-term. I only have and electric guitar up in the deen so ever since i got back, I've been playing lots of my acoustic, which i couldnt be arsed taking up with me. However, as acoustics are slightly tougher on the old fingers than electrics, ive developed a blister on my left index finger that has been there for a few days now and thus cant really play properly =( Any tips on not getting this again? Ways to build calluses quicker? I heard running your fingers over a candle flame can help toughen the skin, but i dunno.

    Cheers!

  3. Dear Uncle G,

    Please help. I'm a pedantic, arrogant arsehole that likes to pretend im better than others by insulting them on a forum. In order to quench my thirst for said passtimes and to generally make myself feel better about my life, which is of course pathetic enough to have said passtimes, I have started a thread on said forum which supplies me with ample material to console myself with. However, I do feel, that I am infact a dick.

    Any advice?

  4. I'm quite happy to do it. I'm 18 in January and ive got a fair bit gigging experience as a vocalist, but have been looking to play rythm in a powerpoppy kinda band for a while. Im not great, but i could play the demo on your myspace no problem if i had tabs, so if thats the kind of skill level, no probs =) I also live right in the centre of town so i can get places fairly easy.

    Let me know!

  5. Acht i might be up for vocals. Been in a few bands before and ive got a fair bit of gigging experience. Fancy posting some influences/bands your looking for the band to "sound like" (obviously not actually sound like... but u know...) just because, as posted earlier, hardcore is easy to get mixed up.

  6. dude... you copied and pasted that exact message from another post except changed the "my favourite band" bit...

    anyhoo. I'd prob be interested. Ive been in a fair few bands before ranging from kinda flat our rock'n'roll to proper hardcore. Played plenty gigs before from crowds between 10 (literally...) and 600 people. Big killswitch fan, but i take a whole lot of influences ranging from city and colour to daft punk to as i lay dying. If your wanting to keep a cool kinda "holier than thou" demeanor in the band, i wouldnt bother though. I like to go a bit mad on stage. find it much more fun. Im 18 in january. Dunno if thts too old/young, but let me know if your interested.

    cheers =)

    Greg
