Och, your correct, I took it way too far! It's a really touchy subject with me for some reason. I guess I just hate it when people are ridiculously into gear and not what really matters, ie. rad chops. It's obviously possible to be in to both though! I apologise, my 'rant' was unnecessary.
Its cool!
I just dont like it when people take things the wrong way and then go on at me about it. Yeah I have a fair bit of good gear, but I was saving up to get a brand new kit and i decided to get more for my money so i ended up buying a few different things second hand. I really dont mind what people play as long as they like it - before I had my expensive gear I played a Pearl Export for years. Was a great kit and I had in Orange so it was kinda funky:up:

Selling my Pearl demon drive double pedal. Has dw beaters. Some marks on the case but everything else is fine. Open to offers. PM me if interested.

My 13x6 Dixon Chris Brady bad boy is the stone cold nizzles. Always preferred 13" snares (got a Mapex Black Panther too).
I bet that sounds sweet. Dixon have some up with some really nice snare drums over the past few years.

Complete bollocks.
Where do I begin with a completely ridiculous statement like this? Granted, I have two (that premier, something or other I bought off you (which sounds amazing btw) and a wee steel one; maybe a Gretsch) but I only need one. The wee one has just been added to my arsenal, more as a trial to see if I have any actual use for it. Seriously though, are you actually a prfessional drummer or something? Do you get sent all this stuff? Maybe then I could understand why your such an unbelievable gear snob... maybe. Sorry to hi-jack your thread as well man, but I really don't like your attitude towards drumming or (probably) music. I think its fair to say that I am perfectly compentent with a pair of sticks in my hands, yet I don't see the need to have all the best gear to complete the task of doing the job as a drummer in a band, or - in reference to the thread - have more than one fucking snare drum. I know plenty of drummers "worth their salt" who have terrible gear, or even no gear at all. They are worth their salt as they do exactly what is asked of them for the band they are in, some are technically very good, some have probably never played the drums outwith a band context. Don't mean they aint doing a good job and earning their salt(?).
Yes, I appreciate a damn good jazz drummer. I even watch videos of drummers on youtube ocassionally, but I still think a drummer only comes into his own when (s)he's playing in a band; which is unlike guitarists and pianists etc.
Sorry, this isn't even a rant at you anymore!! Can you see my point of view though? I struggle to articulate it at times.
So I'm not accused of trolling, my favourite snare is my one as I own it. Pemier Modern classic I believe. Maple? I'm not sure. Its made of wood and metal and i like it.
I really think some people miss the point sometimes. I never said anything about anyone having to have the BEST gear did I? No. And I did not mean that the more snare drums you have the better drummer you are as that would be stupid. My point is that the snare drum is the main part of the kit that tends to change for most drummers - as in they stick with the same kit, cymbals etc but they will change their snare around to suit the occasion. Seriously though some people take these threads far to far........

I have an Omar Hakim and adore it.
It's used on all of the tracks on there. Sounds 'cracking'.
Good choice:up:

Really have to disagree with this comment. Your only a decent drummer if you have more than one snare?
No that is not my point as the amount of snares you have does not reflect how good a player you are. I was saying most drummers tend to have a spare snare and many use two in their set up.
-
Does it have to be 'out of all the snares' we own?
Cos, y'know, for most of us non-millionaires that's gonna be a pretty simple choice...
It can be any snare you like! Own it or not but any drummer worth his salt has more than one snare drum............

Pearl Masterworks, 13x3....ping ping
All these snares sound pretty damn good too
Check this Pearl 13" Omar Hakim model snare in this vid.....sounds amazing

Hi all
Just wanted to know what your fav snare drum is and why? Out of all the snares I own my fav has to be my Premier Modern Classic maple, 13inch by 7inch deep. Its cranked up really tight and so has a really high pitch but also has the depth that the 7inch allows. Love it and I always get the sound guys commenting at the gigs
Whats your fav drum?

While it might not be a tuition website I always find DRUMMERWORLD - The World of Drummers and Drums a really great site for vids and info.
-
Yeah its a great snare drum! Ebay is a good place to start as they seem to pop up from time to time. failing that shops like drumshack are good to e-mail as they normally stock a lot of vintage snares. Good luck!

We just really struggled to find time for practice. Seemed like there was always someone unavailable due to work committments, and I just had to admit defeat with it. I don't tend to play much unless I'm playing with a band, so lately, my playing has basically stopped altogether.
Really hope they manage to find some way of keeping it going, they've written some really nice tunes....be a shame if nobody gets to hear them. Luckily for them, they haven't lost one of their more creative members!
Yeah I used to play with them a while back. Good band and good players but we never really managed to get gigs going.....

What happened to Red Dawg?

Well said lol!

I think you probably have more money than sense. Have you played either of your other kits yet?
It is not uncommon for people who are into music to spend a lot of time and money on it - I think it get it from my dad as he has over 20 guitars...
-
Do you shit 50 notes or something?
Seriously though....why bother? You've got a Premier you apparently haven't used, a DW that is still box fresh, and now this.
What. Is. The. Point.
Lol I don't as a matter of fact and yes I do happen to collect kits. My DW I got over the summer was a straight swap for old gear I didn't use so this is the first new kit I have bought in about 6 years - that ok with you or should I get permission next time?
-
Ok
I just ordered this kit and I cant wait to get my hands on it. What do you guys think?
-
Well the are around 400 to get made so I was thinking around 150ish.
-
Yeah I just bought a 14inch Dixon Brady snare to go with my Brady kit. FVF stuff is ace but I just dont have the space for snares i dont use anymore....
-
Ive got 2 FVF snare drums for sale and on 6inch, yes 6 inch, snare drum buy US company Origin drums (Welcome to Origin Drums).

second FVF snare is 14inch by 6 inch in a camo finish (real army camo material used) with black hardware. Made of maple as well but has many ply's so is really thick.
