  1. Know you're not really looking for Hostels but can I recommend my favouorite, the Castle Rock Hostel? It's got character, situated right at the top of the Royal Mile and you're next door to the castle with some stunning views of the city.   2. Jim started posting old playlists up on his blog. This is the first one he's posted and it's from his time at Northsound. The first in a series of random playlists from the past - July 1993 Category: Music Spot the band later known as Travis. According the Wikipedia "500 copies of the EP were made and were recently valued at 1000 each." Also lots of local bands from Aberdeen. Wonder what everybody is doing now?   4. A bit of a kick in the balls for new music in Scotland with Jim Gellatly getting the sack yesterday. Apparently he's got plans to set up his own new music podcast - so all is not lost.

  10. On the TV coverage when they move from one segment to another they put up a t in the park ident and have about four seconds of music. To my untrained ear the music sounds like the Xcert's 'Do You Feel Safe' - does anyone know if it is?

  14. Your top two results from tonight's Battle of The Bands... 1st - Eskimo Blonde 2nd - Toy Eskimo Blonde open the main stage at the Wizard Fest and Toy will open the Evening Express/Freedom stage. Tough choice, but a very good night.

  20. This week's Sunday Showcase has a live session from Glasgow indie rockers Sons and Daughters. There's also an exclusive play of the Aberdeen band Kashmir Red's new songs and an interview with The Futureheads. It's also movie club time again, as Original 106 movie critic Gillian Martin joins Andrew and Producer Dave to talk about the movies and soundtracks of Danny Boyle.

Duncan Hendry from Aberdeen Performing Arts will be on the show to tell us about the grand re-opening of the Lemon Tree. We'll also have chat with music pundit Dave Milne. All between 5pm and 9pm this Sunday on Original 106.
