  1. as promised........

    Chicken Passanda (mild & creamy)

    (prep time 20mins)

    (cooking time 30mins)

    ......enjoy !!

I seem to have all the ingredients for this, so might give it a bash next week. Do you think you could use chicken thighs? ...cheers!

I went to Matthews the Chinese supermarket last weekend, got a heap of spices, so cheap!!

Thai Summer Rolls (like spring rolls however they are not deep fried, served cold) Taste almost like a noodle salad, well tasty....(can be made well in advance and kept in the fridge)

    Chicken breast cut into slithers

    Prawns (optional)

Marinade the above in a combination of fish sauce, honey and fresh chilli, also added a touch of soya sauce andsweet chilli sauce for a few hours.

Then cook the chicken/prawns then in the wok and set aside to cool.

Meanwhile...prepare the rest of the filling, suppose you can add anything but I put in..

    Cucumber - sliced into strips

Spring onions - Sliced into strips

Bamboo Shoots (i bought the already sliced version)

Rice Noodles - soaked in hot water until soft

Once all ready, you can either roll these yourself or leave for dinner guests to do...

Take Rice Sheets (spring roll wraps) and soak in hot (but not boiling) water until soft (approx 1min), fill them with each of the items above and roll!

Serve with Sweet Chilli Sauce or make your own thai dipping sauce which is Soya, Fish Sauce and fresh chillies....

A really light tasty summer starter or snack!

  2. Little story about when I went to cyprus...

For a change to the usual self catered camping holidays to France, my mum booked a package deal to Cyprus one year. 'whereabouts?' I asked. 'ayia napa' my mum replied. I then proceeded to inform her of the UK garage scene and the fact that this place was the holiday destination of choice for late night revellers and drunken idiots (this was back in the tail end of the 90s)

'och itl be fine' she said:

we turned up at the hotel, got off the bus and th first sight we were met with was 2 and a half inches of flappy geordie penis being waved about in front of us, and a loud 'wahey' from it's drunken owner. It set the tone for the rest of the holiday.

LOL thats amsuing! never been to Ayia Napa....probably won't after reading that! haha

  3. Contemplating making my own sausages tomorrow.

    Any advice?

I'll be using fairly chunky cuts of pepper and onion. 1/4" thick cuts roughly.

    Sausage pictures pls!!

I'm having beans on toast today for lunch, with a glass of milk and a side of Cous Cous salad and beetroot salad NOM!

Made lasagne on Saturday, this time included chorizo, four cheese sauce and 3 cheeses on top Cheddar, Mozzarella and Parmesan

  4. Fear & Loathing.

    First time I've seen it.

Definitely requires another watch as it was rather strange.

Brill movie. The books really good too, it gives more insight into whats going through his head, whereas the movie is quite visual

I watch Martyrs French movie about focusing initially on a girl who escaped being abused, how she made friends with another girl who kinda helped her through it. Then jumps to 15years later and the revenge on the abusers...which unfolds another story. All very graphic and quiet gruesome - wouldnt recommend to people who don't like gore.

Still kinda left me a bit uh? at he end.......just got really strange and unexplained

Possibly tartan Asian lovers might enjoy it

Also watched Clash of the titans the original (bought in asda for 4) my boyf had never seen it so slapped it on. Brill I just love it!

  5. Hmm omn nom!

The BBC website has some great recipes. Going to make the chilli with chocolate again tonight. It was great last time. This time round I'll use different cooking chocolate and not douse the mince with raggae raggae sauce.

Chocolate and chilli goes well, fair adds a richness to a tomato n chilli sauce

I made the pad thai, could only get thread rice noodles, added in some extra veg, chicken and chillies too, a total delight

  6. Lovely meal with the wifeburd last night, a leisurely stroll in the sun to uni today, a footlong Subway melt for dindins, practice with The Deportees this evening, and a big ol' bag o' banger to have a toot while watching 24 tonight.

    RIP Renee

ahhh I just clicked that without thinking WHOOPS!!!

Catching up with 24 tonight too but got about 10eps to get through till up to date

  7. So what would be on your Come Dine With Me menu then?

    I think mine would be:

Sweet potato and red onion soup.

    Chicken & white wine risotto.

Blueberry cheesecake with ice cream (I'm not very good at desserts)

Hmmm thats a toughy, I don't cook much starters and puddings but it I had to choose my fave's (altho they don't really go together and prob wouldn't do that for come dine with me) would be:

    Courgette and Brie Soup

Shredded Chicken with egg fried rice and noodles

Pineapple, Yoghurt and honey eton mess

Finished of with Arabian Mocha Coffee and homemade Carrot cake (which is a new recipe but OMG so fine!!)

  8. Keep forgetting about this thread, glad to see it resurface again!

My other recent foodie breakthrough was making the switch from table salt to ground sea salt. Much better flavour! Didn't think I'd taste much difference but after doing a side by side taste test of both salts there's a huge difference between them.

    No salt?

Sounds good though. This thread really needs more pictures...

I shall try and remember to take some shots next time!

I have cut right back on salt over last 2 yrs when I found I had mildly high cholesterol and it ran in the family, and with the chorizo and spices I didn't find it needed any.

I right love sandwiches, me. Especially ones that involve crisps. A Ploughmans multiplies in betterness when you add wotsits.

Egg mayo and salt and vinegar are a good combo!

  9. made beef and chorizo spicy burgers last week, well tasty - added garlic, onion, peppers, egg, black pepper, chillies and Worchester sauce

Only used half a thing of beef mince so used the rest to make meatbas with a spicy tomato sauce sprinled with dark chocolate...nom!

  10. The Blind Side: I thought this film was fantastic. I was slightly put off by the media hype, but the acting was superb and the story was nice too. I enjoyed it from start to finish and it was well worth going to see. Recommended.

I enjoyed this film a lot too!

Harry Brown - Good film, can't believe how old Michael Caine seemed in it

Meet the Morgans - Bit too Rom Comy for me, few light giggles
