  1. Has anyone watched White Lightnin what a weird yet brilliant movie. I thought the guy looked familiar who plays the lead role, but when I IMDB'd him saw he's only been on a few movies. The guy played this redneck who was pretty much mentally instable, perhaps the solvent abuse as a child played on that, but it follows his life and demons. It's got Carrie Fisher in it too.

    Thumbs up - recommend!

  2. Some views.....

    - Although it's a rather good sitcom, The American Office is in no way comparable in terms of quality to the original British version which is one of the most sublimely written, directed and acted pieces of television ever.

    - Lost is one of the few big-budget American dramas worth bothering about. Yes it's confusing, yes it's long but anyone who has persevered with it over the last 6 years and really gotten into it has to see that as 00's American populist-drama goes, it's pretty much unbeaten in terms of scope and sheer balls.

    - Columbo was better than The Wire/24/The Sopranos/Any modern crime-drama you can name.

    - Britain still makes the best television.

    - Anyone who thinks television is an inferior medium to film is completely wrong (and I work in a cinema so I see a lot of them). I fucking love television.

    Well said!

I'm hoping they make a 2nd series of Misfits, it was cracking!

  3. Just bought the DVD box set of James Clavell's "Shogun".....

always loved it, and am now about halfway through watching it again.

    Excellent !

(want to get hold of "Roots" boxset next, and watch that again too!)

Ha ha the (50yr old) woman I used to work with gave me a shot of her Root's video box set few years back, brought back some memories (checks spelling....) Kunta Kinte!

I may add that i must of seen it the second tmie round, in the 80's

  4. Agree. I enjoyed Heroes a lot, but the point where it jumped the shark for me was when they created the supposed alternative future, with Sylar exploding after his *son* got killed, and then did nothing to drive towards that supposed ending. Despite the premise being that they were all going to converge there.

I gave up on Lost after series 2, it was already pretentiously silly, but by all accounts it has just gotten worse.

    ...

Lost go great half way through series 3 when they probably realised that people were getting a bit hacked off with it, and started answering some of the questions that just got everyone annoyed.

Love CSI (all of them), gutted about flashforward but can't see how they will make a new series out of it. 24 devastated I love Jack...but again the plots just get a little bit repetitive

I will miss heroes, bye bye Sylar and Peter....I'd much prefer it if they did some kind of spin-off story to these programs rather than just stringing it out, repeating the story in a different plot just to get more interest viewers....

Spin off series I would of liked to see ...

    T-Bag - Prison Break

Some new country version of Heroes

  5. All about Steve - a wee bit funny in places, but got bored and fell asleep, then woke up just as it finished, wasn't too bothered!

Ninja Assassin - really enjoyed this film, quite graphic and fast paced. the use of blood splattering was a nice touch!

  6. Only very recently discovered Thai Cottage on Rose Street for a decent takeaway. What a delight of a place.

Get the Thai shredded chili chicken.

It's a delight, if you go for the set menu C and ask to change the lemon chicken to thai shredded chicken they will.....it feeds about 4 people and is shit hot!!

We got a delivery from Jade chinese at kittybrewster last night, smoked chicken as a starter (very similar to Smoked corn chicken from Saigon) and Kung Po.....really fine!!

  7. Watched Hot Rod last night. Found it in Cash Converters for a couple of quid. Familiar cast from Will Ferrell related films, which was pleasing. Makes sense, since he produced it. It was enjoyable. It was definitely shite, but I like shite films.

Rico was a great character, as was Jonathan, who should've had a bigger part. Will Arnett really can only play one character, but it's a great character.

    c-c-c-c-c-c-cool beans

I Love You, Man. It makes you feel fuzzy inside...

Dick flicks make you feel all fuzzy inside! nice! I quite happily watch this movie loads of times.

    Watched....

Amercian History X - First time I have seen it,nae bad

Erin Brochovich - funny when you watch an old film and find that there is so many US tv actors in it

Primal Fear - a very young richard gere and Ed Norton, great twists

  8. How will you get drunk?
