  1. I'd like it if the north-east got a proper festival, maybe similar to something like connect.

Every region in Britain now seems to have a fairly decent festival bar the north-east. I'm not remotely interested in local music, no offense, but it would be great if one or two decent bands could be attracted to a weekend festival.

Connect got Jesus and the Mary Chain, Beastie Boys, Modest Mouse and Idlewild which is pretty good going.

Scotland could do with another major festival, particularly after the absolutely horrendous lineup T in the Park had this year.

Not only would it benefit the local area but it would mean I could come home from a festival without having to travel for hours feeling absolutely depressed and ill!

  2. Who said he's underground? I said 'the majority of Aberdonians have probably never heard of him', which is a valid statement. I'm sure a lot of people seeing the Foo Fighters are not particularly aware of SOAD or Serj. Just because his album is in shops why does that automatically mean that everyone must know who he is? What sort of bizarre logic is that?

I was told this forum is full of hostile pricks, now I see why.

  3. I'd rather contend with a few neds once in a while than go to a club like liquid or priory playing whichever dross happens to be currently populating the pop charts.

At least I still have kef, snafu, moshulu and exodus as possible choices for a nightclub still

  4. As some of you may know budz bar has been closed down. I haven't been in a while but it's a shame!

It was a bit rough in fairness but it wans't all that bad. I used to go there quite a bit on student nights for the cheap 69p drinks and also saw a lot of top acts at the weekend like Rob Tissera, Tidy Boys, Lisa Pin UP etc.

I'm do quite like a bit of hard dance when i'm out and it's a shame that there's nowhere left now. Drum's now Kobe as well.

I'm sure most of you will be happy but I had a lot of laughs in there (and some overly crazy nights)

Aberdeen has a severe lack of clubs with proper dj's.

Here's to snafu and Kef I suppose.

  5. probably going to Erol Alkan.

The only thing that puts me off about Snafu is the horrendously high priced drinks.

How clubs can get away with at the weekend charging 3 for a bottle of apple vk worth about half that always ceases to amaze me.

Is box office collection just in snafu btw? I remember going to Aberdeen Box Office to pick up Tidy Boys tickets, what a tit I made of myself that day!

  6. The View are simply a cheap copy of the Libertines, like The Pigeon Detectives, Enemy, Holloways, Good Shoes (could go on and on). They were ok for a bit but now they're just annoying. I did see them supporting Babyshambles at Barrowlands a year or two ago and it was a pretty decent show. I think that had more to do with the venue though. I wish Aberdeen had a venue like Barrowlands

  7. I haven't been to the mosh in quite a few weeks. Was never really a fan of the tunes on a Saturday night anyway. Usually i'd just sit in the quiet room or whatever it's called, hammered and drinking cocktails . The prices are very good though compared to the awful commercial clubs in Aberdeen like Liquid and Pearl Lounge.

Some of that sounds quite good though eg 2 many djs, Libertines etc.

a bit of Prodigy, Pendulum, 65daysofstatic etc wouldn't go amiss too.

Just so long as there isn't too much of the generic indie stuff like Arctic Monkeys, Razorlight, Kaiser Chiefs etc.

My ideal club would play a mix of punk, indie, alternative rock etc and a bit of drum and bass, house etc!

  8. I thought the ref was actually pretty decent. I dunno if you're counting hutton's claim as a stonewaller but I remember thinking to myself when he started making the run "he's gonna dive here like he did against stuttgart' and I think he did. I don't think there was enough contact to result in him falling over and twisting his body like he always does therefore I think he was just looking for it.

Mcfadden's could have been given but then again so could Shevchenko's.

All in all it was another good performance from the side and it was the first time I remember seeing them comfortably dominate and pass the ball through midfield for large parts of the game against good opposition.

He didn't dive against Stuttgart, it was a stonewaller.

A Rangers player getting abuse on an Aberdeen forum, who'd have thought it...
