  4. AGP presents TREVOR MOSS & HANNAH-LOU plus support ...TUE 28 JUNE Cafe Drummond, Aberdeen 8pm 14+ show Tickets 6 advance from One Up, Belmont Street, AGP ABERDEEN — Home and Welcome to TicketWeb! -------------- Trevor Moss & Hannah-Lou return with their second album Quality First, Last & Forever! this June on Heavenly Recordings. With Adem and Dan Carey lending their mixing and production talents, the new record marks a defiant leap forward for the married duo who have penned a modern folk-pop masterpiece. A quiet but deliberate statement of intent, the album title itself spells out exactly what the pair set out to achieve with this album; Quality First, Last & Forever. Displaying a very simple and very British stoicism, the new record is brimming with that unassuming confidence and marks a return to authenticity and passion in music and art, as seen through the eyes of this perfectly harmonious couple, as they make their small but important stand against anything mediocre and trite. 6. AGP and BEYOND presents LUCY ROSE plus support ...Wed 8 June 2011 Cafe Drummond, Aberdeen 8pm 14+ show 5 from One Up, Belmont St, AGP ABERDEEN — Home and Welcome to TicketWeb! ---------------------- Lucy Rose is an elfin 21 year old songwriter with a voice that people instantly fall for. In her slight frame she combines purity of musical purpose, a beautifully grainy voice and a passionate songwriter's instincts with a thirst for Guinness, a deranged sense of humour and a disrespect for pop's history which comes naturally to someone born in 1989. She grew up in the countryside and escaped to London aged 19 to lead the life of teenage troubadour, dragging her guitar around town playing heartbending songs to drunk builders in East end pubs. As the weeks went by, magical occurrences started to take place. Her gigs began to fill up with ardent fans. Edith Bowman announced on Radio 1: Lucy Rose is absolutely outstanding. A brilliant, brilliant voice that girl has on her. Jack Steadman from Bombay Bicycle Club invited her to duet on a song for the bands next album. Mumford And Sons asked her to play their night. John Kennedy asked her in for an XFM session. Her Watch Listen Tell video of Nightbus clocked up 128 000 views at high speed and early reviewers proclaimed: We're catching Lucy Rose at the beginning of what we think will be a long and prominent career With her swag bag of songs overflowing , and her shows selling out before a shes released any music, Lucy Rose is poised to become one of the voices of the next decade. QUOTES A voice that could melt the stoniest of hearts. Q Magazine, Net Big Things "Lucy Rose is absolutely outstanding. A brilliant, brilliant voice that girl has on her." Edith Bowman, Radio 1 "Could just melt a million hearts." XFM's John Kennedy, Dazed & Confused Lady La La has arrived. The Independent "Very exciting indeed." The Fly, Ones To Watch "The buzz is just building, get on board now." Direct Current Music. "Lucy Rose writes songs from the heart with a killer lyrical and musical arrangement." Music Week "One of the most beautiful voices you've heard." NewAudioCollective "I had one of those moments where I felt as though I was present as a star was born." BatteryInYourLeg "She combines a melancholy vulnerability with a noticeable underlying toughness that gives her voice a captivating edge." Citylifers "Taking the folk sound thats been prevailing in new music for the past few months and opening it up to a more delicate, raw performance." Who's Jack "If Florence Welchs hollering makes your ears bleed, Ellie Gouldings glistening synths make you yearn for some spit and sawdust, and Marina and her Diamonds just rub you up the wrong way, dont worry, indie girl-powers salvation may have arrived in the form of Lucy Rose." LazyBrighton "I find it difficult to find fault in Lucy Rose." Arkmag
  7. AGP presents ALL MANKIND Suburban Saints Ross Buchanan Tunnels Fri 3 June 2011 7.30pm 5.00 -------------------- All Mankind have gained a loyal following across the USA, UK, and Australia, having performed over 500 times in the last three years to more than 100,000 fans. The band's live success has led to independent album sales in the thousands and award nominations for songwriting and performance in both Australia and America. In 2008, All Mankind went into the studio with noted ARIA-winning producer David Nicholas (Elton John, Sting), and Peter Mayes (PNAU, Empire of the Sun). The resulting EP earned its way onto the airwaves of such diverse outlets as Indie 103.1FM Los Angeles, WRXP New York, MotorFM Germany, KNRK-FM Portland, OR, and ABC Radio Australia, while also gaining fans such as Mike Walsh, Music Director at the famed Xfm (UK). Songs from the band's follow-up EP (mixed by Grammy-nominated producer Brandon Friesen) continued to have a strong radio reaction, and made their way into a number of prime time US television shows. "Open Your Eyes" was featured as the theme song in the TV promo for Emmy Award-winning ABC TV show "Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution." In addition, their tune "Hollywood Tonight" has been heard regularly on MTV's "The Hills." Now this quartet, currently based in Sydney but always on the go, has just finished recording their eagerly anticipated, epic full-length album with Mike Crossey (Arctic Monkeys, Razorlight, The Kooks and Mercury Prize-nominated act Foals) at The Motor Museum studios in Liverpool, England. The as-yet-untitled album was also mixed by Crossey and mastered by Robin Schmidt (Razorlight, VV Brown, Tommy Sparks, Go:Audio) at 24_96 Mastering in Germany. This dynamic and inspiring collection of new music is sure to please the faithful while also recruiting many, many more fans to gather together beneath the All Mankind banner
  8. Well to be fair there are bands playing from up north as far as Inverness and as far south as Glasgow so fairly reasonable to ask where theyre from. And a fair number come from Aberdeenshire and other surrounding areas. STV are aiming to cover around 10-12 of the showcases. Whilst quality of the acts is going to vary, its great to see people paying attention to whats happening. Unlike the likes of Tbreak when it held heats despite largely knowing who they were going to pick anyway, there is no snobbery in terms of bands. Anyone can apply to play and will be given the same time as anyone else - who knows out of nearly 100 bands playing these showcases there might be a gem or two.
