  8. AGP presents MAYBESHEWILL plus support Tue 3 May 2011 Cafe Drummond 8pm 14+ show Tickets 6 from One Up, Belmont St - AGP ABERDEEN — Home and Welcome to TicketWeb! ------------- Maybeshewill are a DIY Instrumental band based in Leicester. Their name is a string of pleasant sounding syllables with no intrinsic meaning. They just like the way it sounds. Five years ago they recorded a four-track EP in their spare bedroom called Japanese Spy Transcript, which they pressed up on their own label and sold at shows. It found its way on to the internet, and started cropping up on blogs and forums around the world. A couple of months later it was picked up by Field records in the UK and Xtal records in Japan. A year later they self-recorded and released their first full-length LP Not For Want Of Trying, which received widespread critical acclaim. RockSound, Drowned In Sound and Kerrang loved it and Huw Stephens made it his album of the week on Radio 1. Their second full-length arrived just 11 months later, and received a similarly ecstatic reception. Since then toured as far afield as Japan, Russia and Europe and spent more time in vans around the UK than is probably good for their health. Theyve played Truck Festival, 2000trees, Summer Sundae, Dot To Dot, Brainwash and Off The Cuff and supported everyone from A Silver Mt. Zion and 65daysofstatic to Foals and Johnny Truant. Theyre currently putting the finishing touches to their third LP for release in the Spring Here is the video for their new single, 'Critical Distance': "All of this is incredibly easy on the ear, positioning Maybeshewill as a poppy alternative to post-rock bands that make you work your bollocks off just to be rewarded with a single nugget of prettiness or meaty riffage. Weve all been there; weve all been impatient. Here, everythings laid out for easy access and instant enjoyment, and youll be constantly coming back for more. This full-length introduction to what Maybeshewill can do signals the arrival of a compelling, fascinating talent." - Drowned In Sound (8/10) "Most bands couldn't juggle the collective noise of Mogwai and Glassjaw without exploding... These songs are extremely quick to kick your teeth in when you least expect it" - Kerrang (KKKK) "Mercurial and introspective in mood and devastating in emotional intensity" - RockSound (8/10)

They were the first band to play at this years T in the Park, playing a secret set on the Red Bull Bedroom Jam Futures Stage on the Thurs exclusively for campers and the following week they played to a sell out King Tut's as part of the Summer Nights festival. 10. AGP presents MAX RAPTOR plus support Thu 19 May 2011 Tunnels Aberdeen 7.30pm 14+ show Tickets 5 from One Up, Belmont St - AGP ABERDEEN — Home and Welcome to TicketWeb! --------------- The anthemic candour of Midlands four-piece Max Raptor fuses classic British punk attitude with an astute sensibility to a ballsy riff, forthright narrative and infectious hook-fuelled chant. Having spent the last year touring, playing live and writing and recording debut material, building up a head of steam, a reputation for raucous and energetic live shows and a fan base in the process, Max Raptor are to release their debut mini-album 'Portraits' through Naim Edge Records. Max Raptors debut release 'Portraits', is exactly that: micro-sketches of society, framing scraps of the world around them, painting with ambition, arrogance, anger, disillusion, greed, joy, futility, violence and pride. Portraits is rammed full of short, sharp and snappy portrayals of modern existence. The King Is Dead, Beasts, Carolina and The Alarm chronicle a plethora of dysfunctions with a colour of inevitability, whilst Obey The Whips underscores the decline of our empire with a wry nationalist cry. The unruly mob vocals of Patron Saint (Of Nothing) depict our embarrassing obsession with celebrity culture, the narcissism that it breeds in our youth and the decay it creates when we forget to live our real lives. The convulsive Ghosts is a sobering realisation that (surely) everyone has at least once in their life; I am worthless, whilst the infectious anthemia of The Great And The Good reduces totalitarian rhetoric to a clichd moshpit mantra. Having cut their carnivorous teeth on the live circuit with the likes of Billy Talent, Blood Red Shoes, Oceansize and Ash, Max Raptor supporting heroes The Stranglers on tour in 2010 was like a dream come true. Following on from main-support slot on the Red Bull Stage of Download Festival last year, the band return in 2011 after relentless touring to celebrate the eagerly awaited release of their Dan Weller produced (the Sikth icon who's credits include Enter Shikari and Gallows) debut recording
  11. AGP presents CATS AND CATS AND CATS Katerwaul + support Tunnels Aberdeen Thu 9 June 2011 - 7.30pm 14+ show On sale 5 - from One Up Belmont St, AGP ABERDEEN — Home and Welcome to TicketWeb! ----------------- Cats and Cats and Cats stagger their trademark brand of catchy math rock with folk inspired post rock sections. Their debut EP, Victorialand, picked up great reviews aswell as the attention of the UK experimental rock underground. Cats expanded their line up and recorded 2006s mini album Sweet Drunk Everyone, taking the group in a new direction weighting towards a fuller, more ambitious post rock sound. Extensive touring followed with the band sharing stages with luminaries such as Youthmovies, 65 Days of Static, Foals and Blood Red Shoes and performing at 2007s Glastonbury Festival. Cats x3 were soon gaining label interest and, after releasing a split single for Wolf Party Records, found a home for their next release with well known Oxford based label Big Scary Monsters. The Split EP with Oxfords This Town Needs Guns (2007) was a storming success and Huw Stephens invited both bands to record a Radio 1 Session which was aired in early October. The bands debut album If Id Had An Atlas was released on the 12 of July 2010 through Function Records and was warmly received by both fans and critics alike. Cats had a busy, festival filled summer, including a performance at 2000 Trees which was nominated for a UK Festival Award. The band are currently recording on a boat on the Thames and the album is expected to be released before summer 2011. .."Enigmatic experimentation and sumptuous layering" 8/10 ROCKSOUND .."The Boy With The Beak is where Cats demonstrate what truly sets them apart; a track that fizzes with energy whilst still managing to provide moments of aching beauty." 5/5 God is in the TV zine.. .."Violin and trumpet echo over atmospheric and mathy guitars, accompanied by a shaky yet confident voice as the band pounds and crescendos all over the shop." The 405.. .."An EP of unmitigated brilliance. Just buy it" NME.. .."The musical culmination of everything good you can say about Mew and Arcade Fire" 9/10 DrownedinSound "Gorgeous in a ferocious kind of way" Steve Lamacq Radio 1
  12. AGP presents THE WINTER TRADITION DUKE COOK DOO Tue 29th March Cafe Drummond 8pm 14+ show 4 adv 5 door on sale at One Up, Belmont St - AGP ABERDEEN — Home and Welcome to TicketWeb! ----------------- The Winter Tradition are a noisy pop-rock quartet from Scotland. Their energetic live performances are emphasised by various dynamics that excite and involve the audience and they have succeeded in creating their own sound that is instantly recognisable to any listener or follower. The band have previously supported major acts such as Enter Shikari and Hundred Reasons and more recently The Dykeenies and have had national air-play on Radio One, BBCScotland, BBC6 Music and XFM. They have also been featured in BBCIntroducing podcasts, Gill Mills Best of Myspace showcase and were selected as XFMScotlands Artist of the Week. With their debut EP Well Make Our History (Sept2009) The Winter Tradition toured Scotland and were featured in many press articles and radio stations such as Detour Scotland, Glasgow PodCART, Radio Enjoyment, Leith FM and NewFound Sound The Winter Tradition are currently recording their debut album with the release set for the summer of 2011. PRESS QUOTES: Big swooping indie always has a place on the UTR stereo and The Winter Tradition are quickly becoming regulars on our shamefully beat-up tapedeck. Both anthemic and ananthemic, the Glasgow/Edinburgh ensemble produce effervescent, guitar driven totems, tinged with sleak college rock production. The Scotsman Under the Radar One absolute pearler of a lead track that mixes the whole nine yards of power, punch, dynamics, warmth and expansion on three minutes that pass all too quickly. Dead Earnest Scottish Music Blog Pretty darn special.. So many amazing new rock bands emerging from this little nation of ours right now and that is a fine example Jim Gellatly XFM Scotland, BBC Im loving your stuff! Tight as hell! Vic Galloway BBC
