If someone wants a go at restoring this old Hagstrom/Futurama bass then I have a set of pickups and a couple of other bits and bobs.

  2. im confused why your posting that it just says everything i stated in my first post.

my question was IS THERE A BUS THAT GOES RIGHT TO CASTLE FRASER?

maybe i'm wrong but from the way the info is worded it says the bus goes to dunecht which is 4 miles from castle fraser. i cant walk 4 miles in 5-10mins

I don't think there's any need to be snooty to someone who tried to help you.  Also, why would it be a requirement to walk 4 miles in 5-10 minutes (an impossibility)?  Surely you arrive in Dunecht as early as you need to walk the last bit (I'd say allow a minimum of an hour - 4mph is a brisk walking pace), no?

If being dropped at the door is so important to you then get a taxi or a lift from someone.

  3. Once again, the bass content of this thread has decreased to unsatisfactory levels.  Allow me to present the Fender Cabronita Precision Bass.

This is what having a couple of hours to kill in Glasgow gets you ;)

  4. I got the bridge in the original post. It definitely is both toploading and thru-body

The new bridge doesn't quite line up as the old one did though, as it is slightly smaller. so I think I'll need to drill new holes. Problem being, I don't own a drill. Do I need a particular type of drill, or will any old drill do?

The best thing to use is a drill press to as far as possible guarantee straight holes (perpendicular to the body's surface).  In the absence of a drill press, I use a Dremel with the cable draped over my shoulder and eyeballing down the barrel of it.  For best results, you should drill out/fill the old holes with (hardwood) dowel.

  5. What is the name of that baker on George Street that is open all night?

Thain's.  It's only open all night at the weekend though:

    Opening Hours: Monday - Wednesday 2am - 6pm

2am - 11pm   Thursday   ...and from Friday 2am right through to Sunday 10am

  6. Clementines are sweet and have no seeds. Tangerines are sweet and have seeds. Nectarines are less sweet and have seeds. Satsumas are less sweet and have no seeds.

It's something like that. Clementines are definitely the best, though.

Awa!  The soorer the better.  It's the citric acid that makes it citrus.  Sweet citrus fruit is like 2% beer or decaf coffee to me - a bit pointless and I'd rather have no beer/coffee at all than that pish.

Just my opinion, of course ;)

  7. Don't look forward to it too much , BBC 2 Scotland is showing some pish about Scottish independence instead :(

No worries, got freesat, can change BBC regions.  But thanks for the headsup, I didn't check that.

  8. Toying with the idea of obtaining and assembling this Wooly Mammoth clone:

But I don't really know why.  I've never been much of a fan of effects on bass but perhaps I've been trying the wrong effects and the wrong implementations.  Ach well, it's an interesting caper to get involved in once I finish building my bass cupboard and hand over the Ripper for refinishing - and it's the same price as a good night out on the sauce.
