  1. So why don't they save the cost of bringing a new manager in and instead make the sacrifice and allow McGhee to spend a little in January?

I'd like to see that. I hope they keep McGhee and he gets the chance to bring in a player or two. I guess he had his playing budget set out at the start of the season and he'll have to work within that but we can only hope.

  2. If McGhee isn't getting anything to spend in January what makes you think a new manager would? Especially after we pay off McGhee?

I think the board would find it difficult to recruit a new manager without offering something of a budget, it would be the sacrifice they'd have to make if they were to decide to bring someone new in. You're certainly right in there would be very little to spend but even if it was to free up extra wages for a couple of loans or a free transfer but they would find it difficult to get their man without the incentive of making changes.

  3. If we are going to bring in a new manager now is the time to do it. This would give time to assess the squad and get a full transfer window to make changes.

Personally, I would like to see us stick with McGhee. From what I saw tonight, it didn't look like the players had given up on the manager and they seemed determined. There are clear weaknesses in the team and the defence is in need of an organiser at centre half but midfield forward I thought we gave it a good go. McGhee is clearly up for it going by his post match interview.

The board chose to remove a manager who had brought us consistency in the league so I think they should stick by their decision and give him a proper crack of the whip.

  4. Just watched the game online, there was actually a bit of determination in the team. We look ropey at the back still but the midfield and forwards put in decent showings. It was a case of "nearly" the whole night as we seemed to be inches away from cross balls and squeezed one or two passed the post.

When you're down, you're down though. Looked a soft penalty to me and two players off injured. Fair play to ICT, they are well organised and stick to their guns and deserve to be flying high. The boy Hayes is a cracking player as well.

  5. I have a memory from a film I watched when I was young and have never been able to work out what it was. I WONDER if any one can shed light on this recollection.

It looked as though it were medievil times, though with a fantasy elements; magic may have been involved. One scene I remember there were people in a tunnel and there was booby traps slowly closing in on them, much like the scene in labyrinth, though horizontally rather than vertically. I think one of them died.

Another, towards the end I think, involved a wizard type pulling someones heart from their chest, but it was glowing hot and he couldn't hold onto it, subsequently dropping it or throwing it over a balcony. I think this scene was set in the mist of a castle, whilst a battle was taking place.

Any help would be amazing. Thanks.

Not sure about the wizard bit but the tunnel scene sounds like a bit from Krull.

  6. That Foster miss was priceless!

"Good job Agent Foster, return to HQ."

More to the point, on current form I'd have Bale in my side. He edges out Davdie Grassi but maybe that's just me. The improvement he has shown over the last season and a half has been incredible.

  7. Instead of worrying about losing the attendance from 2 home games against the old firm they should be more worried about the fact that Aberdeen vs Hearts only attracted 8000 fans. Get attendances up across the whole season and it doesn't matter if you only play Rangers once at home.

Bang on with this. There just seems to be such a short term vision in getting the money in, I suppose they need to survive but it would be nice to see a strategy put in place to improve the game in the long term rather than where the next meal is going to come from.

Scottish football is never going to be of the highest standard but the fans want entertainment and watch teams trying to win rather than setting up not to lose.

  8. The heavyweight division is a farce. I'm disappointed Haye's taken the Harrison fight rather than backing up his talk and doing whatever it takes to fight a Klitchsko. Harrison deserves nothing from the fight and hopefully he'll get smashed within a round.

I read an article a while back about Haye v Harrison and how it is really a business fight. Apparently the offers for a Klitchsko fight were shite financially for David Haye so it was speculated he'll take this fight as he can control the deal and get the finances from it. After that he'll take a deal for a Klitchsko.

I'm going to watch Haye v Harrison though as there is a bit of needle to it so may make good TV. Harrison has a punch on him so if he lands a lucky shot then he might win, similar to his last fight where he got totally dominated and then knocked the boy out with a left hook with about 30 seconds of the fight remaining. I do expect Haye will win though, he'll be way to quick for Harrison.

Seriously hope there is a deal struck with Pacquiao and Mayweather.

  9. The report on the Sky Sports website about the press conference has the following paragraph:

"But Rooney's grievances appear deep-rooted with the United manager thought to be unimpressed at the striker's behaviour, just as the player is thought to be not too pleased at his club's recent recruitment policy."

Fergie - "Fucks sake Wazza, what are you playing at having threesomes with hookers while your wife is pregnant is your baby boy?"

Rooney - "Fuck off, you signed Bebe."

  10. I'd say it was a penalty, it stopped a goal bound effort and his arms were above his head. Player reaction is usually a good indication of whether it was a good decision from the ref or not, our lads gave some half hearted appeals but if they were convinced it wasn't a penalty they would have been in the refs face about it.

  11. Cunts.

I'm currently being frustrated by the Scottish Government. I hate bureaucracy with a passion. A job is available that both my division and I really want me to get, yet due to the Government's ways, it is impossible for me to even apply for the job, let alone be considered. My division's chief is a Senior Civil Servant, yet even he can't pull strings to make it happen. The HR bosses won't budge.

Instead, the division will be lumbered with some fucking moron from Peterhead fishery office who couldn't give two shakes of a haddock's fin about their job, but his line manager hates him so much due to his incompetence that he gives him a glowing reference to shift him out of his office via an unmerited promotion.

    Fuck you, Civil Service.

How can they stop you applying for the job? Doesn't sound totally legal from a HR point of view. May be worth following up on (unless you haven't done so already) to see what rights you have as an employee wanting to progress.

Have you tried typing an email in really big letters to make it sound like you're angry and mean business? It works here so give the fuckers a piece of your mind!

  12. No idea what McManus was doing at the third. If he stayed on Llorente's run he probably would have defended it but ran under the ball. Confusing.

Thought Adam made a bit of a difference with his range of passing and Fletcher came into it more in the second half once we scored the first. Nice to see a bit of fight from our players though and these next home games are going to be huge. Win those and we're still in with a chance of second.

  13. Well that was a waste of Petr Cech's time putting on his skull cap.

We actually defended pretty well last night but that formation was only going to work if the attacking side of it worked and there wasn't even a sniff of it. I'm assuming the players were told once we got the ball to counter attack at pace but that was never on. Mackie and Naismith didn't get in forward positions once we had possession and the full backs didn't get forward so it just became a game of punting it clear and defending once they got at us. 4-6-0 really was overkill when we could have play have played with a man up top to hold the ball and bring others into the game and still shut up shop at the back.

I'll put my neck on the line and say I don't think we'll get rolled over by Spain on Tuesday. A big team coming to Hampden always brings the best out of our players and the Tartan Army so I think we'll give them a game. We've come off bad results and campaigns to compete and raise our game in the past so I can see that happening again.

  14. Dish...

I always fucking loathed Derek Whyte. Fuel my fire further, please.

Apparently a favourite retort of his was "It's only Aberdeen" when asked about poor results. A pal of mine heard this first hand.

Although, said pal once approached Noel Whelan in Soul and shouted "NOEL WHELAN...FUCKING LEGEND!!" so is probably not to be trusted. Now I liked Whelan but legend is an overused term in association football these day.
