  1. You could also call or text Pete on 07951 722411 if you can help. Thanks.
  2. I am urgently seeking two tickets for this Saturday's Jethro Tull gig in Aberdeen. Please PM me if you can help at all.
  3. Danilo Soddimo Bangor railway station 1. Oroquen 2. Y 3. Cardex 4. Draconyx 5. San Rocco al Porto 6. Dejan Tomaević 7. Electromechanical organ 8. Phrynobatrachus accraensis 9. Floodgate Effect 10. Love in the Afternoon 11. Arveyron 12. Racer 13. Bellarine Peninsula Railway 80s Indie band I think.. with a train fixation
  4. I met Dion DiMucci (the Wanderer, Runaround Sue) a month ago in London at an after show party - Robert Plant, Dave Gillespie and two of The Coral were there too.
  5. I am selling my Chad Smith Pearl Snare Drum. It is in near mint condition. Would like 150 for it and will deliver in the Aberdeen area for cash. It retails at up to 250. Here's the spec from Pearl's website: Pearl - The Best Reason To Play Drums Chad Smith Model Its sound is very bright and articulate with great body; a very smooth frequency response and a wide tuning range. Our Chad Smith Signature Snare Drum looks as good as it sounds offering an exclusive 14"x5" black nickel plated steel shell, our CL-55 "Bridge Style" minimum contact lugs, 2.3mm SuperHoop II's, our "Gladstone Style" Vertical Pull Throw-Off, and precision-fit Stainless Steel tension rods and solid brass receives for super precise tuning.
  6. Congrats to SNAFU, Mo used to work with us and took a big risk packing up his job to run his own nightclub. Me and his ex-colleagues are chuffed for him
  7. OK, it IS just me then. Anyway, I was reading in the Sunday Herald that they were given a license based on certain criteria. One of things was that they were to play more "album" tracks. However, we've had the radio tuned in at work for the last two days and every track I've heard, save maybe two, has been a single. Perhaps they class Greatest Hits as albums and get away with it.
  8. Has anyone been listening to Original 106 FM or should I say Northsound 3? As The Who said "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss".
  9. We're looking for a lead guitarist to complete our line-up. We have a drummer, vocalist, bass and rhythm guitar in place. We're fairly recently formed but have gigged already with a temporary lead and have gigs and rehearsals lined up in the coming months. All of us are over 40, so we'd prefer someone in our own age group, but if you're not bothered about age gaps then neither are we. We are working on our own material and are concentrating on some choice covers at the moment while we perfect our sound. We'd prefer someone who is not already in a band as we're looking for a bit of commitment. Influences are broad and include, but are not restricted to: Elvis (Presley and Costello), Johnny Cash, Eddie Cochran, Johnny Burnette Rock 'n' Roll Trio, The Animals, Rolling Stones, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Led Zepplin, Cream, Bahaus, The Clash, XTC, Billy Idol, The Cramps, The Stray Cats, Tom Petty, Crowded House. Our sound is a blend of Rockabilly, Rock 'n' Roll, Country Blues and Rock and we have no intention of becoming a pub cover band if that's your concern. Drop me a PM or post below if you're interested having a try out at our next jam at Toms.
  10. Just heard Will Young doing Light My Fire on the radio just now and had to add it to this list.
  11. With you on that one, every time I hear a band cover anything from The Blues Brothers or The Commitments movies I instantly pigeon hole them as utter shite. As for Pav, a man that size was lucky to live as long as he did.
  12. There usually are, subject to availability. Can't see the gig being sold out in advance to be honest, but you never know. (Wouldn't mind though).
  13. The line is as above minus Ghosts Of Progress. Doors Open 8.00pm First band (Fordham Daggers) is on stage at 9.00pm
  14. May not mean a hell of a lot to most of you on here, but if you know your music roots, she was a pioneer. She passed away at 4pm Monday, September 3, 2007. Rockabilly artist, Janis Martin had been diagnosed with terminal cancer and it had spread all over her body. Her husband Wayne Whitt has said that she was napping most of the day in a hospital bed at her home in Danville, VA. Janis had been suffering from severe headaches over the past several months so she found it necessary to cancel her recent booking at the Americana Festival in England. The headaches turned out to be stress related from all the grief she had to endure from losing her son Kevin who passed away in January of this year. Recently when a large tumor appeared on her shoulder, Janis and Wayne headed back to the doctors for tests. The tests revealed that she has a very aggressive type of cancer and spreaded all over her body. To read further about her career, you can google her name or click on this link: MySpace.com - Janis Martin - Virginia - Rockabilly / Rock - www.myspace.com/femaleelvis or Janis Martin
  15. My answer would have to be yes, but not as over rated as 100 other groups throughout rock/pop history, for example The Beatles - the most over rated of them all.
  16. The line up so far is: Andrew (Union Avenue) Cardno with the Big River Band, Delawair, Le Reno Amps, Fordham Daggers and Ghost of Progress.
  17. McFly to headline Just heard from my excited daughter that McFly are headlining.
  18. I'm disc jockying Elvisness again this year - looking forward to getting hassled by Elvis Fans for playing rockabilly records.
  19. Just read through this thread. The venue was my favourite venue in Aberdeen. Took the present Mrs Koolsville there on our first date, some twenty odd years ago to see ace Glasgow rockabillies THE SHAKIN' PYRAMIDS. Fave gig there has to be WEDDING PRESENT who, if recall correctly, were supported by a youthfull INSPIRAL CARPETS.
  20. Thanks to all who replied - we've managed to get a temp for time being.
  21. I've sent you PM with full details. Thanks
  22. This appeal is still live by the way, we're not looking for a Brian Setzer, just someone who appreciates the twangy Gretsch style.
  23. Aberdeen based "mature" rockin' combo are looking for a lead guitarist to complete our line-up. We have a drummer, bass, rhythm guitar and singer in place. You'll be a fan of Eddie Cochran and influenced by Brian Setzer and probably play a Gretsch or similar guitar. Please PM or post here if you fit the bill and fancy playing on stage with us in 4 weeks time!
  24. I happened across the show while channel hopping trying to avoid it. Of all the 2 second segments I saw I have to say I was most impressed by the orderly mosh pit.
  25. May not be right forum to post on as everyone on here appears to be young enough to be one of my offspring! However, nothing ventured nothing gained. If you are of a certain age and a desperate to play live music without falling into the cheesey function cover band genre - gees a shout. I'm into rock broadly speaking, from 50s through to glam, punk, indie, heavy. I'm not offended by jazz, blues and country and would happy just to play before I collect my bus pass. I'm 45, play drums, and sing to an unacceptable karaoke standard. PM me if you're interested, and you young un's, don't take the piss please, it happens to everyone.
