Caught Eskimo Blonde for the first on Saturday night. Really good band!

Yeah there was a couple of days. I didnt really care about what the finish was like to be honest, my other guitar was out of action at the time and id have rather fucked the finished on the sparkle than play with it sparkly! So if you do care about the finish dont do what I did.

I had a gold top sparkle les paul epiphone. Got it for 50 quid with a hard case from some wifie in the paper. It didnt have any strings and she thought it wasnt worth anything without them. Anyway I couldnt ever play that thing on stage as I would have been affronted. I just got a couple of cans of spray and laq from halfords. A few hours later it was jet black. I then took it to the globe and played a gig in there, 1 hour later it was Jet black with sparkly gold bits and looked shite! Moral of the story, dont DIY. Anyone seen the film? Whats going on while this track is being played. In my imagination I can see someone who is...maybe frantic, or in a rush to get something done. The pieces start coming together for them and they do it in time. Or a bunch of different random stories being told that all fuse towards the same topic

This episode reminds me of Mr Firth well sort of. He was a complete bastard and scared the shit out of everyone in the room. So he was nothing like Kevin but he did a bit of fiddeling, mmm maybe thats why even the worst kids at school were scared of him!

Yeah caught last nights! I'm always disappointed when the half hour is up!! I never caught the first series when it was on but watched it back to back on 4OD. Loved every minute of it. Especially when Simon gets his car, and they go to Alton Towers

Any preference? I think the inbetweeners is better myself. It reminds me of my school days, the parties, the banter etc etc. The characters are all more realistic unlike skins!!

GBOB Challenge Anyone heard of / know of this competition? Looking at the web site there is no Scottish heat listed. Maybe if there is enough interest from the northeast we could sway an Aberdeen heat. If not I am sure there will be a Glasgow one!

What sort of equipment will be available, could a full band play. Would they need to take anything with them? Im trying to gather a definitive list of all the open mic nights in and around aberdeen

What night will this open mic night be on? What equipment will be available to the band / artists?

Is there a list of open mic nights available anywhere, or can we make one up. i.e Night, Time, Venue & Equipment Wednesday, 10-30 onwards, Drummonds (Dont have equipment list) Sunday, 9:00pm onwards, The Globe, Full Band. (i.e two amps, bass amp, drum kit..) Id settle for some feedback! Even if thats to be told that im pish. Direction, Ctrisism, Suggestion, Advice, pointers from people and other bands so that we can start responding to and pleasing the people that Im slightly confused by your response tho. Im in it for the fun but I wouldnt complain if i were in a band that made it to a top level? Surely you would want to be at the top of your game wouldnt you? Why would you not want to make it?

It brings it to the surface tho! In the responses already we have identified issues making Aberdeen a harder place to be noticed from. No scouts etc, no record industry. Yes you can travel and go round the country but why cant we generate enough noise up here to attract what it is currently lacking? Apart from population why shouldnt aberdeen be a good place for them? Whats lurking beneath that keeps them away?

Well anything thing in the music industry is hostile, its cut throat! One million people waiting for one person to say yes, the odds are low. But then the Aberdeen Reserve makes it a bit harder. If your in Glasgow or Edinburgh and a band is good, people seem to make more effort to praise em and say well done. Pat on the back and all that. Up here even when something is great whether its a band, a painting, an idea or anything really, people are lessed enthused to say well done and are more inclined to ignore it!

Again Silence! There seems to be lots of silence in these forums!

How much chance do you think an aberdeen band has of actually getting somewhere? Its such a hostile place, especially up here in Aberdeen!
