  1. The factory electrics on this model consists of a piezo under the bone part of the bridge and a pencil type pre-amp and socket powered by a 9v battery (it's a fishman gold) , there is no volume control or EQ on the guitar just a balanced output , plug into an outboard pre-amp or straight into the desk , if it sounds good enough for Eric I don't think anyone else will be dissapointed
  2. Martin 00028EC , as new , factory electrics , original case £1500
  3. there were 2 guys almost sat next to each other at the front bidding against each other for it , feel sorry for the guy who won , I don't think he will be a happy bunny when he gets it home and takes it apart .........
  4. When the shop was officially anounced as closing down I (and a few other people I think) was asked if I would like to buy the strat for 5k , I went along with my trusty screwdriver and proceeded to take it apart. I declined the offer to buy , here's why........ inside the case was a scrap of paper stating that the body was refinished (obvious) the neck was re-finished and a replica decal had been applied (not so obvious) the tuners were replacements (obvious , no writing on rear , should have been single line klusons) It was a genuine early 62 neck with slab fretboard , definitely refinished , replica decal was not quite straight and not enough patent nos Body was completely refinisished do no way of dating it or confirming original , no nail holes , no extra routing but who know what was under the paint. The scratch plate was a modern replacement with sticky foil sheilding on the rear instead of the separate foil sheild that should have been there , also the screw holes were in the wrong place for a 62 (this also means there are filled screw holes in the body) Some of the wiring looked original but not all of it was , the pickups looked original but the neck pick up was not working , could have been a dry solder joint or could have been broken. The bridge was a replacement vintage looking thing The pick up covers and control knobs were replacements The winning bid was 3400 but you have to add 15% auctioneers fee and 20% VAT to this giving a total of 4692 , far too much for all the changes / unoriginal stuff on this guitar Here are some photo's : Flickr: BMinstruments' Photostream

  10. ahh , I've just realised , it was your old dodgy combo I made a low (but genuine) offer for and you took offence , sold it yet ? If you think I was trying to misrepresent this bass you are very wrong , I was chuffed to bits when after years of thinking about buying an old fender bass I finaly did it , I am now very dissapointed to think that I might have been had , one of the posters on basschat is going to be helping to check things out and hopefully it will turn out that the bass is mostly genuine 1964 and will be a good buy for somebody. ......usually about now a moderator or whatever sends me a pm about not posting crap other than offers to buy stuff in this forum so hopefully you'll be getting your message soon also , if same moderator would like to delete the whole thread please do so (I don't think I can) as the bass in not for sale anymore until I find out for sure how much has been changed on it
  11. by the way moby , I believe you don't like me : http://www.aberdeen-music.com/forums/equipment/62359-ampeg-svt-cl-sale-sad-day.html#post856253 this must have made you day ......................insert whatever you feel appropriate
  12. I think you are assuming....... I bought this bass in good faith from a dealer it seems I was "maybe" done I know the basschat guys know their stuff , I also thought I did I am not "chancing my arm (and am unhappy at you suggesting it) I am just trying to sell a bass I no longer use at what is a fair price for what I thought it was ........I seem to be the loser here , if you think that's funny , good for you but please don't suggest I was trying to rip anyone off
  13. history is expensive , do a search , see how many pre cbs fenders you can find for less 8-)
  14. wouldn't call it a seeing off , more that people on there seem to know more about old fenders than me and it looks like I got done when I bought it One of the regulars has offered to give the bass a good look over if I send some hi res photo's and he'll tell me exactly how much I got done saving grace is I swapped a seventies bass which I bough brand new for less than 200 and some money for this bass so maybe I will not be too much out of pocket. It's still a really nice bass , once I found out what it's worth I'll repost and maybe someone will get a bargain ps , for anyone interested , it seems that there is a possibilty that the tuners on this bass are not the original ones and it may be a refinish (all be it a very old one) , when I bought the bass I believed it to be all original , it looks like I might have been conned
